I was advising a relative on WhatsApp yesterday evening that he should keep his recovery seed safe and he said I shouldn't worry that he use 2FA authenticator, I laughed out loud because he thought that the 2FA authenticator can protect recovery seeds, I can't stop thinking about how many newbies must be trusting 2FA too.. 🤔 🤔
Please remain guided
Don't be fooled.
2FA authenticator can't protect your recovery seed or your private key for you.
If you connect your crypto wallet to a bad link, and your recovery seed got leaked, it's over. If you download malicious software or fall for social engineering schemes say goodbye to your crypto assets. The 2fa won't protect you at that point, and when the scammers insert the recovery seed into their own wallet, they will be able to move all your assets.
Most Importantly
Avoid SMS based 2FA too, the risk of SIM Swapping is still out there in the world.
Using Non custodial wallet Like MetaMask or Electrum does not protect your recovery seed or private key with 2FA, just the login interface I believe.
Your Seed phrase is the one and only ultimate Access Point.
