Gervonta Davis was stripped of his title belt and has been reclassified as "Champion in recess" after being inactive in the ring. The decision made by the WBA organisation was also influenced by the current legal issues surrounding him.

If you are curious about the legal issues he is facing. Currently, there is a warrant issued against him because of battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping that happened last October. As far as I know, right now, the police are still looking for him.

I saw a video one time where he was accused of beating up his ex girlfriend or wife or baby mama but in reality he never layed hands on her from the police bodycam video if I can remember correctly, I saw it on social media so it's had to know if it's true or not since the media is fucked up but from then I had this feeling that Davis was going to get in trouble one day, it may not be immediate but definitely and here it is, but I'm sure he will face those charges if his proven innocent he will be back for his title.

For now whoever is going to take that belt is only opportunity to hold it now untill he gets back to fight for it again.

They have to vacate the title if the fighter isn't defending the belt. It's standard in the boxing industry. As far as the charges, if found guilty he won't be fighting anytime soon. Likely looking at a few years in prison minimum.

If you've seen the CCTV footage of him storming inside a basketball game where his ex-girlfriend is sitting courtside, you could clearly see him grabbing her.
Although this incident was not the one mentioned in the alleged domestic violence incident, it still shows what he's capable of.
The fact that he is still not found by the authorities right now tells me he's in hiding 'cause he's probably guilty.

I used to like Davis alot for his aggression and box tactics. He is usually unfazed by his opponent and is on a style way different from other boxers I have known. Am not surprised by charges of battery against him, he has that look, and is more like the personality Mike Tyson was in his teenage and championship years, fighting through the ring and legal issues too.
He would however have to clear out his legal issues first and can then come and fight for his title immediately, with whomever between Floyd Schofield, Luca Bahdi, Lamont Roach Jr., or any other person who is later crowned the champion.

I was really looking forward to the Davis vs Shakur Stevenson unification bout that would have already been set in place in this first half of 2026. However, with Davis' disappearance, Shakur Stevenson would have to face Teofimo Lopez by the last day of this month, January 2026.

How did you come to the conclusion that he never laid hands on her when there are several videos and pictures circulating around that he did. Well, I'm not confirming the allegations but it is hard to prove that he never did that, not even siting AI will convince the jury that he didn't. There is a strong law against fighters engaging in fight outside the ring, he knows that so he would have avoided the temptation. I just hate to see that he is at the verge of losing what he worked so hard to get.

As for the fight, I like Floyd Schofield vs Lamont Roach. Schofield is the number 1, however, Roach is only number 2. While Bahdi is number 2. The reason why I like Roach though is that it looks like it could be a exciting fight between him and Schofield.

He is great in the ring but unstable outside. With the huge amount of money he has and all the lawyers he can pay to settle all of this, he will be back in action in no time, unless he is not interested in fighting anymore.

If he keeps this kind of behavior, he will end up neglecting his skills and eventually be beaten. The boxing community wants to see him fight the best fighter in his era, so he can establish his legacy or get beaten.

I hope he will not go to jail because jail time will harm his skills, like what happened to Tyson.

The WBA did the right thing. They cannot have a champion that they cannot compel ot fight because he is hiding or nowhere to be found. Gervonta is a very disturbed person; he needs to undergo treatment. With all the money that he has and his connections, he can fix this mess.
The boxing community still wants to see Gervonta. He still has the potential to be a great player, but he needs to fix all of these issues that will haunt him inside the ring. You don't want to box, knowing that you have a pending case or warrant

Yep, last I read, his lawyer said he doesn't know where Davis is.

But if the WBA will force their 1 and 2 ranking boxer, then it will be Schofield vs Lucas Bahdi.

Maybe, but based on how boxing organisations like the WBA operate, they might choose Lamont and Schofield to fight since Lamont is the most popular(or at least in my opinion) among the three because of his fight with Davis that ended in a draw.

No  wonder. Belt is up for grabs then. There are lots of fighters considered to be interim in this division, they could just let them fight for it. Lamont did fight a good fight against Davis I think it would be good for him to  fight for the belt this time.
