Is it possible to bet against the club that you do fans?

I know that some people will prefer not to bet against the club they fans with and even when they know that there is very tendance of losing the match yet they will not make use of the opportunity they have to win money, I'm being honest that i have bet against my club to lose that particular match because i know that my club can't win their opponent and i won the game, so i really want us to share our experiences if you can actually bet against your club to win all times, even when you know that there are some matches that will be so difficult for your team to win or you will not near that particular match because it is your club that is playing then you will prefer placing bets on other teams to win or draw.

I am a Manchester United fan and for a while now, United have been messing up making me to lose confidence in them. For that reason, I don't bet on them and if I see a club that will play against them and win them, I will bet on that club because gambling is fun when you win your bet and not betting with a biased mind. I'm not biased when bet on a match if not, it will kill your analysis skills.

Actually, this is a topic which has been already discussed here in this section of the forum, and there has not been universal consensus from people on this gambling community.
In the eyes of an important percentage of gamblers and bettors it is all about business and getting as much yield as possible, while others would not dare to bet against their own club or national selection, even if they could have the chance to pocket some money out of it.

My personal choice would be to avoid all together to participate in bets or markets which make me feel uncomfortable. And move onto the ones which actually bring me entertainment and perhaps, the chance to win money.

There will definitely be a conflict between our mindset and feelings towards the team we support. But we have to distinguish between betting and our sense of support for our favorite team. 
Generally, when we place a bet on a certain team, we naturally want the team to win. However, in cases where the team we support is not performing well or is facing a stronger team, I can disregard that and bet on my supported team to lose. 
Or if there is a conflict within ourselves, it is better not to bet and just enjoy the match.

There are some club supporters that will not bet on their fan to lose, rather they will not bet on them at all.
To be honest here, I will net on them to lose immediately I see any weakness in them, I'm just another unknown supporter of the club. So why will I bet on them to win when I know fully well that their chances of winning is very slim.
If other gamble supporters will be on their weak clubs to win, I will not do the same. I might not as well bet them to lose or yo win if I know that their performance will not be good and their opponents too is not also good, I will avoid the both of them. But that will not stop me from watching the game.

One of my friends kept betting on Manchester United last season until he became disappointed and stopped. He was a loyal fan of United and decided to support them till the end of the season. But when he saw that the club is not improving and losing games he stopped. Club loyalty would lead to losses if the club is not doing well. I am not a fan of any club to the extent that the opponent will be winning my club and I will be unhappy, I will be happy and I will do the usual things that I supposed to do that day. Form what I have writer already, you can easily conclude that I can be able to bet against my club if they are playing rubbish.

I have many clubs, my clubs are the winning clubs. If I think a club deserves to win the league or the cup of the season, I will choose that club that year. I am not so much of a fan that my club will be losing and I will continue choosing them. I am not like that at all.

It's possible if you're just a regular fan, and you see that your team has no chance against your favorite team, and you are just being practical, but it's different if you're a die-hard and long-time fan of the team; you will have a hard time accepting the betrayal of your team.
For a die-hard fan, money is nothing; all they want is for their team to perform better and win every match, even if they are big underdogs. They just can't accept the team's defeat, because they are die-hard fans.

I have heard a lot of friends saying they are gambling for their money not a club who probably do not know them. And sometimes it makes sense but personally I don't gamble against the club I'm fanning. Instead of making a bet against them I rather skip that match of bet on other options like goals, corner, shot on target.... that way it make me feel more like a true rather than people who support a team because of their winnings and recent achievements. Yes, there is no exclusive rules about betting that we can only bet with the clubs that we support. We're free to support any teams or clubs we want.

And that's the same with betting, we're all free to bet with any of the clubs we want to even if it's against the clubs that we like.

So, there's no need to make yourself feel guilty about it. Because you can bet with any team you want as long as you think you think you're likely to win money on them.

If you consider yourself to be a strategic bettor you wouldn't bet based on sentiments or favouritism because even if the team you support is very formidable they cannot always be in their best form, at some point they might go through some changes that might affect their performance. Betting on them when you know that the chances of them losing is very low probably means that you are betting for funor you are just ready to throw that amount of money away. Betting on your favourite team should only be when you know they have high chances of winning.

Haha, it's a tough decision to make such bets, but I do bet against teams and players I am a fan of. Sometimes it's more in rage than anything else. Like I bet against them and then secretly hope they win lol

Usually, I am a very measured gambler who makes bets without getting emotional about it, but I have to admit that betting against my favourite teams is really hard. Now there is so much NFL around, and I have to make tough calls. Sometimes, I avoid betting on winner and go with over/under when I am not confident in my team doing well. This way I don't bet against my team and still have a bet on the game .

The industry is built on a fan base, if there were no fans for a particular club, we might not see the football industry as big as it's today. I'm not a traitor who only wants money. If I wanted money, I'd have to go to work. When it's the weekend, I'll watch & support the team I love (Atletico Madrid). I will still bet on the team against the favorite team, it doesn't matter about the fans, because it's about money so I have to realistically choose the team that is likely to win.

Maybe there are people out there who are still loyal to the team they support, so they bet on the team they support even though they keep losing, take Man United for example, I won't be loyal, but I see which opportunity is better.

I prefer to either avoid betting on clubs I support (as betting bias works against you) or bet on the club I support. For example, in La Liga it’s easy because I support Real Madrid, but in the Premier League it’s difficult because I support United there   But by the way, United has good statistics against the top teams, so in big games it’s worth betting on them. Real Madrid are consistently good, but the odds aren't that attractive, so if I bet, I bet with a handicap.

team are up against superior opposition and would bet accordingly.

Surely most people would not just blindly back their team even when their chances
are very low. The priority has to be making money over losing it.

Personally I would bet against my team to benefit myself.

I understand why some people can't bet against their own team, because emotions play a significant role. In my case, it depends a lot on the game. If it's a regular match and the situation is very unfavorable, I can even bet against them, thinking more rationally than emotionally. Now, in a decisive or classic match, I prefer not to bet at all, because I know I'll end up cheering more than analyzing.

In those situations, I find it easier to look for alternative markets or bet on other games. Even just to avoid causing so much anxiety.

If you play with your heart you can't bet in a game where your favorite team plays.
If you bet for the pleasure of betting regardless of the team color you do so with the purpose of guessing the bet.
If it happens I bet in a game where my team plays, whether it has a chance of winning and even if it has a chance of losing, the game is the game and you have to know how to live.
Getting carried away by emotions in gambling is a rip-off, so I definitely bet when my Juventus plays too.

I do it often. I may not be a fanatic fan of any particular soccer club, but I quite like Italian soccer clubs because I like the way they get the most out of their players. i would say that Italian teams are teams that do not rely on buying expensive players to build the quality of their team. Instead, they have a different approach, such as maximizing the potential of the players they are able to bring in.

And I like some of the teams there. But I rarely bet on those teams in the UCL. Because I know their limits. Liking a team doesn't mean we always have to bet on their victory.

It's not a problem if you want to bet against your club. Will other fans flame you for doing that? They will only if you let them know about it. Keep that to yourself while your cheers will be for your club but if it's about the money that you can potentially win, you bet against them. You know how things can go and the outcome will be. But if you have this guilt on yourself that you can't bet against your club, don't do it. Your emotional being is more important than of the support you'll give to the team and yet, you are having a breakdown because you're about to miss that potential profit as per betting against them.
