As far as I know technically BTC is still a cryptocurrency anyway OP we have probably discussed these issues before but now we are discussing again in our Nigerian local board why Bitcoin is not a crypto. Actually by cryptocurrency we mean all coins but this BTC is completely different from all coins in simple words I can say that this coin is different from other coins because of its integrity, security and decentralization which inexperienced Nigerians like you should know. Also earlier an experienced person Jack Dorsey mentioned that Bitcoin is not a crypto so you should check out these articles to analyze more about this difference.

Thank you my brother for sharing this, na exactly the point I dey try make, we all know say true true Bitcoin na cryptocurrency, the first and most unique, but for segregation sake, we no lump am together as crypto, so we have Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrency, na my point exactly as stated in the article you just shared, although I no explicitly state am for my original post, because I feel say majority of us already know, but so many newbies never understand this point sha, so make ona take note.

Normally, anybody wey compare Bitcoin with other altcoins or even put them for the same league clearly no understand the dynamics of bitcoin. I get your point but e be like you never really understand my own point. No be say Bitcoin no be crypto, but the world cryptocurrency Dey widely understood in different and more broader terms than just the normal digital currency wey you dey reason when you call am. When you call the term cryptocurrency, to people wey don dey very inclined for crypto matter, them fit translate am another way. Rather than classifying Bitcoin under cryptocurrency like every other altcoins, them go rather prefer you to just call am Bitcoin. Due to its unique nature, it’s only fair you completely separate am from every other thing wey dey try copy am because them no dey the same league in anyway.

Can you produce a link to this for us to read where consensus was made in the forum, please? Accept you have accidentally construed your message wrongly  and is normal cause at a point we all made and still making mistakes as we go about learning and sharing knowledge in the forum.

Bitcoin na cryptocurrency and cryptocurrency na the family name for all coins and no be cause them call some altcoins that one go come mean say na only them be cryptocurrency and bitcoin no be am. Where difference deh na by order of value and historical performance.

Permit me to correct you, starting from the title you used, speaking of why Bitcoin is not crypto, which is wrong, because Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency. What you could have said is this: why Bitcoin cannot be considered an altcoin. This specifically explains your idea and the angle you're coming from.

Not back to Bitcoin and the aspect your discussion concentrates on, we can't have any other cryptocurrency that can fill the gap of Bitcoin, because it's all about privacy and everything works under a decentralized network, which we can learn from its whitepaper and also the history it makes right from inception.

In the crypto world,bitcoin is still widely recognized and addressed as a cryptocurrency.But most people don’t find it interesting calling bitcoin a cryptocurrency because calling bitcoin a cryptocurrency look more like calling bitcoin an altcoin.But in my own opinion,bitcoin remains the first cryptocurrency to be established in the crypto space making it more different from other coins other than bitcoin.Op you made a good post on the creation of bitcoin down to it’s whitepaper but you wouldn’t have said that bitcoin is not a crypto,if it were bitcoin isn’t an altcoin then you’re 100% correct.The difference between bitcoin and altcoins are diverse,firstly bitcoin can be used as a store of value for the long term unlike most altcoins that doesn’t guarantee long term rewards rather there are best used for gaming,DeFi and so on.
