Nigeria today is filled with politicians who have stained their hands with many things. I know we dont have good or faithful politicians anymore. Those days have passed. Now, if you want to have power, you must be willing to do many things that are inappropriate. Another thing is, if you dont want to do those things, you will be forced to do them, or they will eliminate you.

Take, for instance, the River State Governor. Nwesom Wike drags him because he refused to do his bidding. I know politicians embezzle the nation's money. OP should understand that the money belongs to the nation, not the government.

To start with, politicians don't have nothing. Everything they have belong to the people including the money they still give back to the society whenever they go out for campaigns. Do they embezzle money? The answer is a direct yes because there's no way they can be living the kind of life they are living from the pay they are supposed to be entitled to.

A typical politician takes up money meant for the execution of project, spends at least 40% of it and use the rest to carry out project that are completely substandard and most times those project ends up being left abandoned or pushed to the next administration that always neglects it also. we are where we are as a nation basically because our government have failed us in executing projects that should have been of help to the society and have rather moved the money meant for such project into Thier private purse. If that act is not an act of embezzlement, what then is it?

Politics encompasses good and bad people at the same time one person cannot be a government. The kind of money this politicians are embezzling is really alarming, if our politicians were using 40 percent of the income they get monthly or on yearly basis for the development Nigeria would have been a better place by now. Even most of the governors we feel are working like Alex Otti and others ain’t even using up to 20 percent of the money they are giving for the development and betterment of the state, they are just using a little fraction and are busy eating the rest. Tinubu’s administration is giving each state governors 3 times what Buhari government was giving them but nothing to show for it. He has also given local government autonomy so that development can get to the grassroots but still yet nothing to show for it.

See the yearly budget presented each year, if they can just decide that this years budget will be for roads alone and they genuinely follow it just imagine how beautiful our roads would have been, if a governor is able to use 50 percent of the budget each year for a particular project within 8years he would have concluded 8 key projects and just imagine the level of development that will have sprout up in this country, our own leaders are doing the opposite, instead the president will borrow from overseas then share the money within himself and the governors and they won’t invest in any key project that will help the economy, that is why we keep on retrogressing as a country. Our electorate is also not helping matters because they are corrupt and the adverse effect is what we are experiencing today, our politicians are just too corrupt, I fear for the future of this nation.

Let's be honest in sharing our thoughts and review of this topic, so far politics is concerned there is no sincere politician that is ruling or in corridors of power, all of them are steals and heavily embezzling public funds meant for development of the country, once elected they seize the opportunity to enrich themselves and their families forgetting to empower the citizens whom they are serving, leadership is not all about power, people voted this politicians to serve , that's bringing in change, development and providing social Amenities in the rural and Urban areas not to embezzle funds.

So for me there's no sincere politician that doesn't embezzle public funds, you will see a politician having flips of cars and building mansions overseas but I don't really blame them because they buy the votes so once they gain power they use that opportunity to recoup what they spend buying votes during campaigns and election that birth them into power so don't expect anything good from politicians because they are just there to embezzle funds not to better the lives of the citizens.

Embezzlement is still the reason why a country like Nigeria that is full of plenty mineral resources is still struggling with under development and the painful part is that, these politicians only embezzle this money and run to other countries to go and develop those places instead of using the money to develop Nigeria where the money is coming from.

It is true that not every politician out there is corrupt, but that statement only applies to politicians across other nations!! certainly not like a country called Nigeria. Op, I no support waitn you talk oh, and I go tell you why... In politics, seeing is not the only way to believe. You don’t need to physically see money being stolen when budget records, audit reports, abandoned projects, and corruption convictions already tell the story.
I don’t agree that collecting palliatives should justify voting for anyone. From my knowledge, a small handout cannot balance years of insecurity, unemployment, inflation, poor healthcare, and failing education. To me, palliatives feel like temporary relief used to distract us from long term failure.
Also, I can't accept that politics should be “give me and give you.” Personally, I believe leadership should be about service, accountability, and performance. When we accept barter-style politics, we lower our standards and encourage the same cycle to continue.
While I believe faithful politicians still exist, my view is that the system makes integrity difficult to sustain, and that is a reality we must honestly confront.

As it stands, i can only boost of few reputable politicians with a good record, Alex Otti and maybe Sim Fubara, i said maybe for Sim cause he's switched to the corrupt ruling party and could be used like a puppet for his new political godfather, Tinubu. Alex is so far the best and he's setting a good standard that others could emulate but corruption won't make them do the right things.
 It's become so bad that many people are so desperate to go into politics so they'll comfortably steal public funds without giving account  for it since they belong to the ruling party, Nigeria is a shit show and the only way things can change is serious reformation. As for Wike his karma is near.

Embezzlement isn't only in Nigeria but it can found in every country. There is no politicians in Nigeria who has occupy public offices that haven't stolen money. Were you expecting a politician to come out and tell the public that he has embezzled money?
Just have at the back of your mind there's is no politician in a Nigerian who is clean and without corruption stains. Since they cannot occupy public offices without stealing, at least they should work well. If politicians are embezzling money and the same commission projects, that would been somewhat better than stealing and not executing projects.

I don't think we have any faithful politician in Nigeria,  but if we do, they must be very rear as you have mentioned. Nigeria is very corrupt and the politicians are at the top of it, so I believe that every politicians in Nigeria are corrupt are they keep embezzling the funds that are meant for the development of the nation. I would not have been bothered if they steal some money for themselves,  but my issue is that most of them spend years holding public office and they will not do anything for the citizens and that's where I have problem with this politicians. It's okay if you take some of the money for yourself, but let the citizens see or feel your the impact of your stay in government.
