Seed phrase metal backup

I have searched online stores in Nigeria but I was unable to see metal seed phrase backup, but I saw on AliExpress. I was thinking of buying one to backup my seed phrase but I have seen people  ordered items on AliExpress before, they have a place where they are delivering it to in my town, the same place most of my Oraimo order products are delivered. Many people know me there.

If I order metal seed phrase backup, they may know that I have bitcoin, but I am thinking paper backup may not be enough. Is it worth it buying metal seed phrase from AliExpress and be delivered but I see it as poor privacy because more people will know that I have bitcoin. What I concluded at is that I will only use paper backup and be careful. What do you think about this, should I buy the metal seed phrase from AliExpress?

Well, since you said the place they’ll deliver it to is somewhere you know a lot of people and if they will deliver it there, that will make the people have a hint you have bitcoin then I will say you should not buy it from them because privacy dey very important especially with the increasing physical attack on bitcoin and crypto investors, you can’t trust anyone.

So it is a bit better to prioritize your security and privacy in this case, it will be better if you will use the paper backup and keep it securely or buy from another online store which will deliver it to you in another location.

That’s funny because paper also can be destroyed in a fire. I think it’s a good idea to have multiple backups stored in different locations. OP, I think you should read this thread. You will find that you can buy metal tags on Jumia, Temu, or Shein. Then you will have to engrave the phrases yourself

You do not need to rely on a third party to store your seed phrase and should not take any steps that threaten your privacy. You can buy some metals from the market that are used in daily life and are not damaged by fire/water. Stainless steel, brass, iron, copper, titanium, etc. are such metals.

No one should suspect you by purchasing these metals from the market. In this case, you will have to engrave and write the seed phrases yourself and store them safely. This becomes necessary only when you have a large amount of Bitcoin. For general funds, you can write the phrase on paper and store it in different places.

You did not read what I posted, the question is that is it good for my privacy to buy from the stores because many people know me where they will deliver the item in my town.

AliExpress, Temu, Oraimo are using the same destination where they will ship the items to in my town and I know where they will develer it to which are the same places, they know me there. Jumia is different but it is also located in the same street which I can just walk in less than 3 minutes.

Jumia does not have the product.

The method you plan to follow in conclusion that is correct. Write down backups of the seed phrase on paper and keep them in different safe places where there is less chance of loss. If for some reason the backup in one place is lost, restore it from another place. Avoiding complications is a wise decision because it is better not to take the risk of possible disclosure of confidential information.

It will never be a wise decision to do so. But yes, if you want to make a metal backup, you can go to the market and make it yourself. For example, there are many people who do not know or have not studied Bitcoin. You can make it with them if you want. If you are able to find all those people, then you can be worry-free. But making it from online is the same as inviting a thief to steal it.

And that, is a real risk, mostly locally. As for paper backups, when done properly are not weak. Make use of good quality paper, write down hidden places, and safeguard them from moisture. That usually covers certain real-world threats.

When you can later buy a metal backup locally, travel to buy it by yourself, or discreetly make a DIY metal backup, then it requires upgrading. But for now,  a careful paper backups is a most reasonable and safer choice for you.

It's all your choice OP to decide on which one you prefer based on the circumstances playing around you. I don't go for metal steel plate to encrave my seed phrase on because if you did not encrave it by yourself, you have automatically expose your seed phrase to a third-party all in the name of high quality security which finally made you vulnerable.

 I prefer the local way which is to write it on a piece of paper and make three duplicates and keep them dar away from each other. It's best to add passphrase to your seed phrase to additional security.

Buying metal seed phrase saver doesn’t expose you as a Bitcoin holder since you bought it online and will be delivered to you; it now depend on how you can handle it and how to keep it safe.

Well, I check Amazon store now, the type of metal backup I saw there are a bit big, it will be the same as paper backup or paper backup will even be a bit better to store your seed phrases safe because you can handle you paper the way you wanted, and can duplicate it and store it in anywhere you wanted, so the choice is yours and make sure you know how to keep them safe.

There is absolutely nothing that can't be destroyed but with the mental storage, the chances are higher in terms of fire outbreaks since it's a  mental storage it gonna take an intense fire 🔥 to actually do any damage to the storage plate.

Keeping your seed phrase in multiple locations is obviously the best move anyone can take because it guarantees you lots of chances if Incase you lost one or maybe forgot where you kept it which I believe is not possible especially when you have something valuable in your wallet
