Although, poker is part of gambling but there's skill involved in it and those who're skilled poker players can easily make money from it. However, in rest of gambling the games are purely luck based and only those who're lucky can make something by playing those games, while in poker luck is also needed but skill is way more important then luck alone in poker.

That's the same with drug addiction, the sensation that it brings to someone's brain is assuring that they like what is happening. But it's all a way to distort the reality because once the addicted person starts to see the true form of theirs, they'll see how broke they are. They're trying to escape the reality and for so many reasons why a person becomes addicted, it's usually about the money that they are wanting to get from it. And even so, they're not able to tick on that reality because it slaps them when they experience the harshest of it about losing more often.

I believe it is drug abuse and uncontrolled gambling that destroy people's lives.  Drugs and gambling, when use properly is not that devastating.  Drugs can help people recover from diseases and illnesses while gambling gives entertainment and boost mental health of some people. 

I agree that illegal drugs can harm people and worst drug addiction coupled with gambling addiction can ruin one's self.

Very painful reality! Gambling and drugs!
As a child in my abode, the most common drug/intoxication among people was alcohol, cigarettes and snuff (how about yours?) but nowadays it's something great that ancestors who took snuff and others can't bear.
But if you look at nowadays and even years ago you will see personal inability to control situations. No person is an Island we all have one thing or the other to offer one another yet people get so carried away wanting to escape their reality of which much of it is created by themselves.
The inability to take control of situations which will enable one to take gambling and or drugs for what it's (fun or moment not reality ) is the major problem.
Some gamblers use drugs to escape the reality of their loss which will do nothing but cause more lose and by implications total loss.
Gambling and drugs of any kind is already a social issue.

Gamble can only destroy you if you're not discipline, I know for a fact that there are people who started gambling just to have fun but at some point they start looking into the other side of it and that is because they are not discipline enough to stick to their decision. If you maintain the rule that says " gamble should be treated as fun and entertainment"  then, gambling will never destroy your life.

People are often so quick to blame it on gambling but almost never consider why exactly these persons are in such habits, they do not bother to look at the chances that these addicted fellow could be the problem for not wanting to quit already despite whatever it is they are going through as an addict, rather they just want to keep up with the satisfaction of their feel gambling.

You're right about that, it affects the whole family and all the friends , but in the end it's good because everyone gives them positive energy, and that positive energy is seen in the support, in the companionship, that's where it all is, in the good things they can do for the person who is affected, in these things it's very likely that they will improve quickly , but it Depends on all the possible help.

Addiction in both can ruin one’s life, that’s it. But in gambling, as long as you can control yourself and not go beyond your means, you’re good to go. With drugs, even if you consume very little, the moment you try it, there’s a higher chance you’ll repeat it. There’s no such thing as moderation. Unlike gambling, where you can play in moderation, only using money you can afford to lose. You set aside part of your salary for savings, bills, and other responsibilities, then play. For me, the difference between them is that with drugs, you destroy your health. They may be good at the beginning, and you enjoy them, but in the long run, your body will charge you when you overuse them, you can get sick, and you will feel bad in your body because of too much abuse and use.
While gambling, you can have a problem financially, especially for those who don't know how to control and just bet until you run out.

Drug addiction is a very big major problem in the society and it can be seen affecting the person physically, which makes it even more visible and symptoms noticed quickly. The problem with it is that once you’ve started seeing the symptoms from the person, it’s already a big sign that the problem may have gotten worse internally and it is then the solution will be looked for. Despite prevention being better than cure, one would still have to settle for the solution because at that point, preventive measure is not what to be looked onto but solution is more needed.

Your comparison is quite accurate because both of the addiction deals with the person mental health which can lead to depression and when not handled well can also lead to destruction of the person’s life. Gambling overtime have not being given more focus on prevention and awareness as drug addiction, but since it’s not seen and felt physically as drug addiction, less concern is given to it on how people can deviate from them. Sensitization programs just like how they do about drug should be encouraged also for gambling addicts, risking what you can afford to lose is very important to pay adherence to in gambling and once people don’t do that, the whole narrative changes and leads to addiction gradually from there.

Pointing at drugs and gambling is just an excuse, anything and everything can destroy ones life if the person is lacking discipline. You can't fault sugar for your diabetes when you are the one consuming it, sugar works just like sugar is supposed to work, consuming too much of it will kill you eventually.

If you do everything too much they will have a negative effect on you, to me this equals to everything we choose to do, eating, consuming and others, let's use the human body for example.

If you don't have sugar in your system at all you will die, if you drink too much water you are killing yourself, what does this tell you?

That too much of everything is simply bad.
