In general, it is a lose/lose situation when none get involved in highly addictive drugs like Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Heroine and other drugs which are pretty much illegal and banned in most countries on the planet.

Mixing up drugs with gambling can only lead to bankruptcy and loss of one's family.

Interestingly enough, people who are addicted to drugs seem rather inclined to get into crime in order to acquire their money to consume drugs, instead of going for gambling with the hope of getting enough cash to fund their addiction. They do not risk their drug money.

Try to beat the addict very painfully with the demand to quit drugs. It will most likely be useless. But if you do this with an addicted gambler, he may well give up his passion for gambling. After all, his teeth are probably more important to him than gambling, whereas an addict doesn't give a shit about it, because his teeth may have already rotted from drugs. I don't really know if you can force a gambling addict to quit. I don't think that method will work. You might think you've forced them, but in reality, they'll continue gambling in secret. Personally, I don't believe gambling addiction can be treated by force, but only through the addict's strong willpower.

But with a drug addict, such an attempt is doomed to failure. Therefore, drug addiction is worse than gambling addiction. A drug addict is a dead man - he's a walking zombie. It's useless to talk to him. An addicted gambler has a chance to return to a normal life. And even if most people think otherwise, it won't convince me, because I've seen drug addicts and I know what these creatures are like. Actually you cant blame gambling, the one thing that you would be blame is yourself. Why? you do have your own will on what are the actions and decisions that you are taking into. It would be just that too impossible that you wouldnt be wary about into the actions that you are doing. Any forms of addiction is somewhat you are the ones who do tolerate it out and it is just that too impossible that cant be able to determine into the things you've been dealing into. This is why on the time or moment that you do deal up with something then everything should be that in moderation but of course it would be that limited or excluded to drugs because we do know that even just that a single taste or sesions on drugs or any substance will definitely be that considered to be addicted on which not only that destroys your body but also destroys your mind and this is something we should avoid.

You are the ones who would held responsible into the actions that you are taking into. You are the ones will be making out decisions whether it would be that making bad or good for you. Its just that there are people who dont mind much about the consequences but ending up on having those realizations and regrets later on.

In both cases, it's about chemical imbalance in your system. Whether it's a chemical substance you eat / smoke or inject, or behavior that makes your body produce it.

You can't compare alcoholic or drug addict to someone healthy who can just become normal by stopping. People in NA and AA introduce them as alcoholics and addicts, even if they have been sober for 10 years. You don't hear them saying "ex addict". Because that's a fight they need to do daily.

In both gambling and substance addiction, you are wiring your brains in a way that it learns the shortcut to feel something easy way. And in both cases your brain eventually turns numb to it, and feeling that way seems like a normal way. You have to unlearn that pattern and let your brains fix the balance, and even after that you will always be more susceptible to repeat your bad habits.

This is the hardest part that people do not realize. Even if you have been sober for 10 years, it's still a battle and there is no guarantee that you will stay sober forever. Obviously things to get easier, in fact much easier, there is a betterment path and I suggest everyone to give it a test.

My therapist told me when I was trying to stop "do not see it as failed after six months, see it as success of sober for six months" and that changed everything for me. I never drank or smoked or did drugs, for me it was eating, so it wasn't being sober, it was being on a diet, but the logic is the same.

You've hit the nail on the head about lying and ruining relationships. When I was gambling, I borrowed a lot of money from friends and co-workers. I'd lose it all. I couldn't pay it back on time. People started to turn their backs on me. They'd look at me askance, as if I'd done something terrible. But wasn't that true? Yes, that's absolutely true. I lost trust. At the time, I couldn't even think about such things. I didn't care. Time passed, and I realized what I'd done.

the responsibility is on us. Gambling and drugs do not destroy lives in themselves, life is not about our decisions. Soon loss of control, pursuit of losses, and substances as a way of avoiding problems will be devastating financially, mentally, and socially. It is not always necessary to be aware. Limiting, finding help and when to step out are viable strategies of remaining in control. Discipline and support systems are important, but it is personal responsibility that really helps to ensure that these habits do not consume our lives.

Any addiction definitely has negative effects, because I believe those who are addicted cannot control their desire to do what they want. But the negative effects of drug addiction are more destructive to mental health and overall health than what occurs with gambling addiction. Since we often see people addicted to gambling experiencing ruin, we tend to think that gambling addicts are the same as drug addicts.

Perhaps it depends on what we are addicted to, because if it doesn't cause any negative effects, then you probably know yourself that it's not a harmful addiction.

However, you are right in saying that in these two cases, drug addiction is definitely more damaging to health. There is nothing better than being addicted to these two things, both are equally bad when defined as addiction.
