If these things are that shown in public or tons of people eyes then it do shows on how rampant it is and also one of the contributing factor on why these kids or youth do get involved is that there's no strict control. Well, there's no way that we can eradicate drug addiction no matter how tight the regulation would be as these things could be done without anyone knowing. Symptoms or signs could be seen but well there's nothing we can do about it. True true both drugs and gambling can spoil person life if they do not handle it well..  it is small small it normally start most times, person will say it is just cruise or fun, before you know it, it will turn habit that is hard to drop.

Well, you may be absolutely right maybe, but I think it also has to do with the person involved, and also maybe the type of hard drugs.
Some hard drugs don't kill or destroy their victims that fast, what kills fast in hard drug is abuse and overdose, aside this, it's very possible to someone to be taking hard drugs and still clinge to life for several tens of years.

And speaking of gambling as well, it kills also, but gambling doesn't kill directly, it has to be first abused and for a long time also, then what comes from the long term abuse of gambling which is addiction, is what brings about what usually may lead to loss of life which is depression and suicidal thoughts.

To be frankly speaking, gambling addiction is far way better than drugs addiction, I am saying from experience. It's better to be a gambling addict than drugs, at least gambling addiction can cause several external damages but not health, drugs causes both external damages and health also, the negative effects of a drugs addict are very bad, you could be doing silly things and getting out of reality to living a fairytale lifestyle that seems impossible to achieve.
