I placed a sports bet earlier and it lost, no issue there. Later on, I noticed the bet was refunded with a note like wrong market or something similar. I used that refunded balance to bet again and lost it. After that, the original bet was graded as lost too.

Now my account is showing a negative balance and honestly feels weird being in debt to a casino because of their own grading issue lol. Has anyone here had a negative balance before? How did the casino handle it, did they ask you to deposit or just block withdrawals?

I indeed experienced a negative balance on my casino account not only once but twice. It happens when I am playing at a casino where we can spend the deposited amount even without a single confirmation.  So I used the amount and lost it, but the Bitcoin that I sent was not confirmed for many days, so I end with a negative balance. I talked to the support staff and explained the situation, and it was agreed that I have to double-spend the amount of BTC deposited, and I have to send the same amount to the newly generated address from the casino, then contact the support staff after the process is done.

I did double-spend the unconfirmed transaction going back to my own address, and redeposited the same amount of BTC with higher fees to the new address, then contacted the support staff.  After the confirmation, the negative balance was fixed.

Well, that is certainly something that has never happened to me. You should contact customer support and let them know there was a mistake on the way they managed their betting markets.

Usually casinos are very careful when comes to handling the balance of their gamblers, so there is no way for them to have active debt.

You would be in the right if you reported this to the casino, they will likely restore your balance to zero and allow you to deposit as usual. Hopefully something like this will never happen to me.

It hasn't happened to me either, but the case reminded of a problem some telephone companies had several years ago: balance didn't update instantly, so you were able to spend more than what you had because of the the small gap between spending and discounting the balance. Some people exploited it to pay for additional pricing services, then throw away the prepaid card and get a new one.

I'm not sure if that is the case here, but that gap could be a possible reason (and it should be addressed by the casino asap if that's the case).

It's an online casino; it'll feel weird. It's not new in offline casinos, but it's different in online casinos. Once you deposit, they will automatically deduct your balance from your bankroll.
But in offline casinos, you can request a credit or balance check or even request an extension; it never happened to me, and it's an isolated case. Update us on your case so we'll know what action the casino took and be aware.

I suppose it was a system error, but that's easily fixed by adding more money. Just kidding. I'd like to think the solution is to contact your casino, but it would be interesting to see a casino around here with a loan system or no-deposit bets. I suppose that would be very difficult to maintain in the long run, since many people might disappear.

But at least with those on the forum, like loans but for commission-free betting, it would certainly be beneficial for advertising any casino.

That's the best thing that he can do and we'll see if the support has helped him after letting them know what has happened to his account.

Because even if refilling is going to solve that problem, he'll know it if the balance will be the same or not after doing that.

And if it's another problem that's going to give him by doing that, he should just contact it in the first place and see if it's just a bug or an error that needed to be fixed by the casino itself.

How can someone possibly be indebted to the casino? You never lended money from them.
Are they even allowed to put your account on a negative?

How did the casino handle it, did they ask you to deposit or just block withdrawals?

It happened to me on Betfair, they never said a word and I simply deposited $100 and $15 were taken out of it, the balance showed $85.

It was a long time ago and I was depositing money just for the festivals, I had almost nothing left on my account and I said it fuck it, bet on the first race all in, they credited the horse win but the rules for the horse racing is that the result might be amended by the judge of the race before becomign official, so 1 minute after being called a winner the judge said it's a deadheat from 4x the bet went 2x, and the bet I already put on the next horse lost so negative balance..

They never bothered to drop me anything, even a mail or a warning for one week, but again it was $15.

To be honest this is a very big issue that the casino site need to take proper care of because such thing might likely lead to more losses and at last you found yourself owing unnecessary debt. Although it's necessary for us to have a patient whenever we see a refund and leave the money for sometime before betting another, or you look for a way an deposit anyone to avoid making such mistake because most casinos normally do this, some of them can even credit your account when your bet have not settle.

There was no money there, that’s why it showed as (-), I’m sure once I make a deposit they’ll just offset it.
I might just deposit and settle the negative since it’s not a big amount anyway, but if it was like -$10k, I’d probably be tempted to just let it sit lol.


I was also thinking about it the other way around, like what if I actually win the bet and then they reverse it because of wrong market odds, that would make me upset.
In all these years in this vital industry (who got the reference?  Roll Eyes), this is the first time I've heard of a negative balance at a casino, and I've gone broken the bank a few times.

Did you read the casino's terms? Does it mention anything about a negative balance or debt balance? Imagine receiving a visit from Agent Smith at your door asking, "Hello, how are you? Why aren't you answering our emails?"

It would be hilarious, but anyway, it must be some kind of error and you should notify the casino. Take a screenshot or record a video, who knows... they might reward you if they have a bug bounty program and you receive some extra money.  Cheesy

However, since you already mentioned what happened that resulted in the refund to your account, it could be a technical error with how they handled your figures. Probably they were still tracking what was refunded, unless they might have changed their minds after. The only best solution you have is dropping a complaint to their support with evidence. They are the only ones that can possibly give you an accurate answer and,if possible, rectify it.

I haven’t personally had a negative balance before but w/ local bookies this kind of thing can happen since their settlement isn’t always instant/automated, once you deposit again they’ll most likely just offset it & move on, no drama usually if the amount is small. What if I won? part, if they reversed a winning bet after already crediting it I’d be pissed too that’s why consistency in grading is important cause players also make decisions based on the balance they see. If it’s a small amount settling it is probably the easiest path but yeah if it was -$10K, it’s a different story I’d at least be asking a lot of questions first.

You are right that you should never put extra money on a gambling site. Because everyone has the same problem of not being able to control their emotions and they bet a large amount and most of the time they lose that bet.
