Politics in present day Nigeria is all about tribalism or religion bigot. In Nigeria today if you don't belong to a particular tribe or religion there's is nothing for you. Take for instance during general election that the country is supposed to elect or choose a qualified leader to rule or to lead, a person who can tackle insecurities economical problem employment problem and many more. But based on the fact that that person is not from a particular tribe or religion he can never win. Same thing goes to employment you will see a qualify person that have all it takes to move the company or firm forward but because he or she is not from that your tribe or religion he can not get the job and the other person that is from your tribe or religion that is not competent will have the job and at the end of the day he or she start making series of mistakes that will start affecting the whole society and if not tackle on time it becomes pandemic all because of tribalism and religion . So tribalism and religion has really don damages to our Nigeria system and society

Religion and tribalism has always been the problem with Nigeria and the politicians has been able to use it to their advantage. Religion and tribalism plays a major role in Nigeria politics and it has been like that for as long as I can remember.  Political positions are not giving to the qualified individuals,  but rather its been giving based on tribe and Religion.  You will be surprised to hear a citizens saying he or she is voting for this person, because they are from the same tribke or Religion. This has eaten deep into the society and I don't see it changing anytime soon, because the people are not ready to change it. Sometimes I begin to think that the citizens are the main issue, because even if they see a competent leader, but it's not from their tribe or Religion, they will not vote for the person. Like I mentioned earlier, the politicians are using it to their advantage and I think it will continue like this for a long tome.

The annoying part is that during campaign they will be shouting one Nigeria when deep down their is so much of division due to religious and tribal sentiments, I think Nigeria as a country is too multi lingual, in a state you can see almost more than 20 languages, 4 persons from a particular state can’t here each other, there are also lots of religions too, take the Christians for example we have different religious practices even amongst Christian folks, some see the sabbath as on Saturday while some see it as sunday, some wear white while others wear other colors, some feel like heaven is here on earth while others feels it’s a place that saints will resurrect to. This tribal and religious sentiments have blinded most of our judgements, people feel that a brother is someone from his or her own tribe or his/her own religion and can support such a person to any extent even if the person isn’t qualified for a particular position just because of the persons religious or tribal background.

If Nigeria will grow moving forward i will prefer we have a central language and tribe to help reduce the segregation amongst everyone, America and other leading nations have a particular language that they generally accept and they love themselves regardless of the state of origin, let’s emulate them and in due time our rapid transformation as a nation will occur.

The tribalism in all systems of Nigeria has now gone beyond imagination as leaders are elected on tribal choices and not based on credibility, transpiracy, accountability and other criteria for good leadership. Our Choices of converting tribalism as a criteria for selection is one of the problem affecting of political systems as it makes them bend rules just to justify there corrupt acts and never do things accordingly as its like a brotherly actions when mistakes are made. To transform Nigeria to good, tribalism and religion difference deserves to be abolished and things done based of merit for that is the only way we can receive development in Nigeria again.

This is very true, tribalism na very big problem for dis country, dem de consider tribe over productivity, na so we go de hear about regions to head leadership positions instead of collectively agreeing to choose a person wey everybody knows say e go deliver. Sometimes I de wonder why we de advocate for one Nigeria, wen all of us de de sentimental about where a leader go come from. We don miss opportunities for dis country to elect person wey get integrity and wetin e take to turn dis our bad economy around but because im tribe na minority dem no go gree for am. Until we begin to see beyond tribal sentiments to elect credible leaders we go continue to de see mediocres for majority tribes as our leaders.

The problem of Nigeria started long before now, particularly during the amalgamation, where different tribes where brought together in 1914, and we where all called a colony. If you recall when during the independence in 1960, it was not too long after independence the uncivil war broke out, and it was a major divide between the south and the North, that injuries of the civil war has not been healed up till today, the sentiment has been there and it has affected the fabrics of our politics and how we view things. So our reality of today can be traced to our historical beginning and how we've been unable to live together.
