Many of our youths or unemployed people these days will stay idle and expect some sort of help from the heavens forgetting that they are the only person who can get them where they want to be. Most times, trying to tell somebody about yourself and what you can do isn't really a bad idea but rather and direct form of advertising your skills. Getting to know people and keeping good contacts helps to widen your reach to the world because you don't know who might recommend you to somebody else who may be in need of someone with your skills.

I understand where you're coming from but look at this way; when you've got a skill to do, I doubt that you'd still remain in that circle of poor friends because what distinguishes someone who's poor with a dream but without a skill and one who has both is that while the other was busy dreaming of how far they would go, the other made conscious effort to work towards it and definitely, when there's something you've got doing, your network and knowledge would be expanded.

In my opinion, success in networking also depends on a person's personality. An introvert will find it difficult to have a wide network, avoiding crowds and building relationships with many people will be their choice. This is what I feel, even with my current job that requires continuous interaction with many people, it is very uncomfortable, and I am considering looking for a new job.

It's true that network and connection is really important. Just like what they say, no man is an island. Though I partially agree with you in this, however, being poor is what poor people always make as an excuse not to achieve anything. That's the same reason why the poor stay poor.
Creating your own network as a poor person is indeed a lot more challenging compared to the people in the middle and upper classes. Fortunately, there's always a way for them to reach these rich people who have a broad network. One of the most important things to obtain in order to make this possible is to equip oneself with knowledge. A poor person doesn't need to dress and live as rich people do, but talking like one would be enough, and no, not the kind of talking about boasting material things in their possession, but talking about business and sharing ideas on how to make more money, that is how typical "rich" people's discussions are.
So, no, it's not true that a poor person doesn't have anything to bring to the table. Everyone has their own unique ideas and creativity, enhancing them by acquiring enough knowledge is what the poor person needs to invest in themselves. Everything can be learned through the internet nowadays. Unless being poor remains a mindset, not a financial situation, that person will live and die poor.

I actually knew a lot of people here in our place who were born and raised poor, and now live a comfortable and stable life, and they also now have a broad network, a rich people's network.

What I feel is that building networks needs good communication skills and this might be lacking in many people. It is always a good thing to strike up conversations with anyone you meet and at least keep their contact when going to a meeting or networking event.

A nice conversation and a smile will always make the opposite person remember you and you might be able to use that influence eventually to get a new job or strike up a new deal.

I've been in the market and I discovered that successful people does what society refuses to do, they often fail the rules set by the society and find their way out of the other side of success. Success isn't given, it's earned through consistent breaking societal rules.

We know, society teaches that, go to school, graduate and get the certificate, and then bend into the rat race for longer period of time to end the life like an average Joe.

I have to say that, and it's true.
This is also inseparable from the factor of luck that has been predestined by God through intermediaries, and I believe that the right person is His intermediary.
Once that happens and continues day after day, year after year, it all boils down to the idea that there are no favorite places in life, only favorite people. Because with such people, wherever you gather becomes your favorite place. 
The hardest part is maintaining the relationships formed through such a process.

This is true and is how I landed my current job, it all mainly lead back to knowing the right person who was able to connect me into the job that was needed at the time. Having a wide group of friends, even just making those little bits of effort to stay connected with people who have a common mindset or interest can really pay off massively. You have to also return the favor where you can because others may end up relying on you. There is a danger though that you must only refer people into jobs when you truly know their character. If you are just an acquaintance or a friend of a friend, sometimes that can get abused if you refer the person to a job and they turn out to be useless or don't work very well.
