Truthfully and respectfully yeah;
Fvck PayPal Fvck their management Fvck you too if you refusing to boycott em.
Yeah, I kicked off this post with a bit of aggression and shit I get that, but do you know what it means to be continually treated as inferior?!
● Do you know what it means to lose gigs which could earn you your daily bread and butter all because PayPal flagged all Nigerian users of their services to be scammers?!
● Do you know it means to be rejected for twenty (21) bloody years and still be amongst the top countries on top of the fintech spaces? ● Have you or a friend be affected to this discrimination. I mean, you fund a million naira on PayPal and get the "We're no longer offering PayPal services for this account again" have you?!
Now Nigeria is dominating and thriving, thanks to Bitcoin, Crypto and other fintechs thriving locally likewise like moniepoint ( yall know them ) Now they want to silently chime in?! You can imagine the gutter behavior from these dimwits. When did the scammers narrative change?! Lmfao
Those who have been affected directly at the same time, those who're smart enough to learn from other people's real life experiences do not need to be told what to do. Do you?! And finally, avoid your favourite influencers and bloggers paid hugely to push and promote PayPal again. Learn or Perish!!

So after 20 years, they have decided to give Nigeria a chance. I wish I could ask their admin a few questions, like: why do I need to use their service when Moneipoin, Flutterwave, Paystack, Chipper Cash, Jumo, and TymeBank offer the same services? All these while, I have been using Risevest, without any stress. Unless I am convinced with a good reason to use Paystack, I stand with you.

If Nigerians were smart people, We wouldn't even be considering PayPal at all right now. For the two decades they decided to treat Nigerians as trash, other equally good or better alternatives have been founded or discovered. For three years now, I've been using Payoneer to receive money, and I have not had any issues with them. The Nigerian government may be selfish idiots that don't care about the country or its people, but the citizens have been finding ways to survive, and the fintech industry is proof of that. The traditional banks in the country felt they were gods and refused to improve in their service and customer care, and then came the online banks that have made things easier for Nigerians.
If you need an alternative service to receive money for your freelance work, you can open a domiciliary account with a local bank if the customer doesn't pay in bitcoin. But if you don't want a bank account, you can use alternative services like; Payoneer Grey (founded by two Nigerians) Wise (Transferwise) Chipper Cash Flutterwave. There are many more. You cant be neglected for over 20 years and then still go back to that same person that neglected you when there are so many alternatives.

There were two of them that I needed many times in the past, PayPal ane one other that I do not remember its name. In crypto, I noticed Coinbase started like this racist which is the reason I do not use the exchange till today. I can never use PayPal because when I needed them, I was unable to use them. There are many alternatives that Nigerians used till today.
Although, from my analysis, many Nigerians will use it.

What is PayPal when a decentralized network of bitcoin is there for us, we don't need a payment gateway system because they all work together as a centralized institutions and collide with the government against anything that may be of our own personal interest, you're not safe when your financial economy is solely tied up to what the institution in charge detect, we can't rely on them the way we did on a decentralized network, which is why bitcoin will always prevail over any financial alternative.

Paypal have proven to be a hypocritical company because coming back to enter the Nigerian market after banning Nigeria for over 20 years is shameful. They ought to tell us the reason they banned Nigeria for that long because now we don't need them anymore as there are better alternatives that allow seamless conversion of Bitcoin to dollar and vise versa. In the local terrain, we are fine with Moniepoint, Opay and the rest of them that CBN even expanded their licenses to cover wide range of operations.

Lmfao
Though it feels bad to have had an international Gigs, and the only challenge was a medium of payment willing to allow Nigerians receive and make payments across borders. Because I could remember trying to create a US TikTok account that can be monetized for its creator program, and I was told the only means of receiving payment was PayPal only, and that discouraged me and likewise many others that wanted to venture into international stuffs that were willing to pay online, since their most common methods were PayPal. So when I came across the news of PayPal coming back to Nigeria after many years of wrongly tagging us all scammers, is literally blow in the eyes of Nigeria tech users, and that alone is a sign why people need to avoid using PayPal, because right now we have got many payments methods offering smart and fast payment transactions across users. And if they could run many years ago, it's a sign they can also win run again in the future, and with that, it is a total red flag. Because I rather receive payment with altcoin then use PayPal, if not, I continue with Bitcoin.

I have lost different blog accounts I created online like I could remember one on Amazonkdp that requires PayPal as the payment processor system and I lost it, even with advice pointing to using VPN tools, it is simply banned for this country. There have been others developed in its place like payoneer, of which I tried using, still couldn't give the satisfaction I have enjoyed so far since crypto currency market has kind of made payments easier as a great option.
I just had to abandon these old services and moved forward with crypto currency options, mostly involving Bitcoin and the more notable coins as choice from payment processor systems, when am doing a transaction outside the country or within sometimes.

I still see tags of them around all this Nigerian black market vendors which signifies that they will be using it and it’s not surprising because I know most Nigerians until today do not actually trust the use of bitcoin or crypto and the name the PayPal had since then will still be in echo. Also there some people who actually have love ones abroad where PayPal is actually seemingly attractive I think there other family here in Nigeria will be forced to use it. Personally I feel like if it was even a country with sane government officials I think they would have banned it too when it’s coming back because for me PayPal ban on Nigeria was seriously not only wrongly stereotyping Nigeria but was also more like a racial issue for me and should be barred from the country. There are multiple ways to boycott them now thanks to bitcoin and crypto at large

What do Nigerian content creators uses to cashout their earnings off Facebook, YouTube and Tiktok every month, I thought it through PayPal but foreign PayPal account vendor, I think so, because I'm sure these foreign social media platforms wouldn't allow the integration of any these Nigerian payment gateway.
But why suddenly coming to Nigeria now when we no longer need them, we've been doing the internet payment shit over these two decades without them, they thought we could beg them. We are bad boys who creates way where there is no way.

I wasn't expecting this post here, but i'm so glad that someone brought it up. Since early hours of this morning, I have been following the trend on Twitter, and from the majority of the threads I could gather, the majority were not saying anything nice and I was happy about it. In a society where there is no competition, and power happens to lie on the hands of a particular person/organization, a lot of things are bound to happen, and that's how PayPal has treated Nigerians and other Africans for more than a decade now. But as reality would have it, and fast forward to now, we've successfully had several Fintech companies that has been able to sustain us. Just so we may know, PayPal's stock has gone down by over 76% in the last 5 years, and it seems resuming their operation back was probably their last option at this point. And finally, avoid your favourite influencers and bloggers paid hugely to push and promote PayPal again. Learn or Perish!!
So far, I haven't come across any influencer promoting it, but trust me, Nigerians at the moment already know that there is a possibility of Influencers wanting to get involved, and that might not go down well.
The problem I get with Nigerians be say sometimes, them dey quick forget about the bad things wey all this western companies do to them.. Then I guess they might have to learn the hard way. Some users on Twitter have recently attempted to use it, and they still got ban. Those who attempts to use large amount might have themselves to blame, because it's very obvious that this is just a possible exit scam on Nigerians. Well, I don't have much to say, but I will be there to read and laugh at the complaint of those on Twitter, that chooses to be foolish.

Paypal are just fooling themselves after locking us away from accessing it for years. I remember how my brothers lost their funds because they couldn't access it and unable to get online paying jobs. Nigeria has the biggest population in Africa, and I know that they want more customers to use their platform, that is why they decided to crawl back. Nigerians has moved away from them, we have different platforms that we can use now, maybe they think we can do without them. Yes boycotting PayPal will be the best they think they can insult us and get away with it. Most of these technological or fintech stuffs often downlook Nigerians a lot.

I join you my man to say Fuck PayPal, they’re very stupid they’ve seen that Nigerians can do without them now and now they want to catch up with the market…. We’ve left them behind. The only thing I love about their decision on closing us of is that it motivated our boys in the techie world to brainstorm and come up with better solutions to our problems. There’ are so many solutions that I don’t think anyone in Nigeria would want to use their services ever again.

That’s what you get when you don’t create spaces for innovators to come out of your country. The government should encourage Nigerians with innovative tech ideas and support their business likewise Nigerians should learn to patronize Nigerian owned tech companies. I saw a video of a someone who made a similar app to TikTok and people in the comments were trashing him that they won’t use his platform for no reason other than it’s Nigerian owned.

Paypal is not even on my list of fintech in Nigeria here, and I would not even in my dream think of it after what they did to us, tagging Nigerians such a name was uncalled for, and now they want to trickishly come in through the back door just like a dog eating back their vomit.
I think it is time Nigerians teach them a lesson, and any celebrity that dares help them to promote their brand here should be called out and boycotted as well, and that would teach them a lesson they would never forget so soon. It is time we start teaching these fintechs lessons they would never forget so easily. We have the market strength, and we would use it to teach them a lesson.

You're right. Suddenly the scammer tunes they've been playing over the years has conviently died as they've now realized how viable as well as tons of profit to be made opening their services to consumers in Nigeria. It's almost laughable. While I was fortunate enough to steer clear of their services then, I know of some people that got screwed by paypal. They had their funds frozen and later closed the account. People lost potential gigs and their funds as well, thanks to paypal. Seeing how large and growing the fintech industry is in Nigeria, they're back salivating at the thought of making crazy profits from the Nigerian market. Sadly, some would readily forget how they heavily restricted their services earlier on and go on to welcome and use their services.

I can't forget what this shit of a company did to me way back 2014/2015 when I was a freelancer on fiverr, I was not able to withdraw most of the money I made from fiverr as a result of PayPal wahala, like the op said, they won't let Nigerians in because they believe every body in Nigeria is a scammer, And I want to again, ask same question the op asked - what changed now?
PayPal is already on my forever blacklist of services I will never make use of, cryptocurrency today is every where, they are almost running out of business because every one deals in crypto now, they had no choice but to adopt crypto after banning it on their platform for years, and because they aren't getting as much customers as before, they are now forced to expand their business to Nigeria, a country they once tagged as filled with scammers, sorry to say but anybody who uses PayPal in Nigeria is a fool.

It doesn't matter if Nigerians can't use PayPal. I've already heard about many PayPal scams. PayPal monitors Nigerians because they claim that Nigerians have committed a lot of money fraud on PayPal. But they don't care about the fact that Nigerians have been harassed while using their PayPal. Many times they would freeze money for 180 days if they saw the IP of Nigerians without giving any reason or explanation. Would I as a Nigerian want to use their PayPal? No, because I would never go through with the thing where I have to be harassed and I would never express any desire to use PayPal. I also agree with the OP that PayPal should be boycotted. Because there are many scam allegations against them.
Why should I keep my legitimate money locked in a place where they don't give me freedom. In my personal opinion, this control of theirs seems like a bit of a drag. Yet they have made various allegations against Nigerians of hacking cards and other things. We as Nigerians will not accept this arrangement and will boycott PayPal.
