Obvious fixing in some small leagues? The line movement says a lot

Match fixing is everywhere, not only Basketball but in all sports activities, especially in local leagues. That is the main reason I stopped betting in the local league of my country since the influence of stakeholders seemed to be a more consideration than the actual team performance.

Games are manipulated so much in local leagues and you can see the reflection in the odds provided by the local bookies as they seem to have fast access to insider information and adjust odds accordingly when they get such info. I've lost bets when obvious favorites ended up disappointing terribly and even when you watch those games, you'll immediately know they were rigged.

You can spot such incident if you are very familiar with the athletes' movements. Because you will know if there's something going on on how they act inside the court. So yes, an audience can indeed spot such match fixing. And they can easily do it in small leagues. But for bigger leagues, if they will do such act - they will be very careful because they can ruin the reputation of the league and a lot of stakeholders will be now at stake.

In this case, the spread movement pretty much reflected what really happened in the game, so I can understand why people are saying there might’ve been a fix here.
Not sure if the same applies to other small leagues though, that’s a different discussion.

That’s pretty much what happened in the PBA before, but now there’s no kind of line movement like that, so I don’t think there’s anything shady going on tonight. We can probably just bet peacefully on the team we like.

No more big line movement in this game, that last game's move was already abnormal.
Now, it closed at -5.5 in favor of SMB, but TNT came out strong in the first quarter and were already up by as much as 20 points, even though SMB is slowly trying to come back.

This game feels really unpredictable because if you just look at that high spread, it clearly signals an SMB win and a cover, but seeing them down this early makes you wonder if that’s still going to happen.

But the leagues are still there and still operating, even though it’s pretty obvious they’re rigged. I think it really comes down to our own choices now, because we already know how it works, yet we still bet on it, then complain when things don’t go our way, and that part doesn’t really make sense.

Maybe if you’re a real fan, that reaction is understandable, but if you’re only watching because of betting, then betting clearly comes first. Our interest becomes biased, we complain loudly when we lose, but when we win, we just stay quiet and move on.
