Some time last week I was just trying to sell off some of coin to suite some of my unexpected bills at home, along the line I got a buyer engaged and when it was time for him to pay so I can release the coin he mistakenly pay me twice,  immediately i noticed  he has payed me twice suddenly I got a call from a strange number when I picked it was the online vendor demanding for a refund that it was a system glitch.

So i asked him if we can chat on Whatsapp that where I was I can't talk so we started chatting and he sent me his account number which I later transfer his balance to him .

I transferred a total sum of 57,836.79 to his account as the total funds that was mistakenly sent to me to clear up my conscience.

However, this is a situation that not everybody would have loved refunding back due to the hard economy in recent time but regardless I just think I did what am surposed to have done by refunding back. So guys have you ever experienced such, and how did you handle it?

My experience with one of them sometimes last year was a different one, the vendor was busy trying to look for a way to scam me by short paying me with about 5,500 which after I confronted him through chat he left the msg unattended to for hours which I also did not answer him until when he chooses to and later ended up paying me extra as he sent 55,000 instead of 5,500, I also returned same favor to him by not responding to his message even when he contacted me on WhatsApp, it was after 4-5 hours when felt like I have returned him enough favour I decided to send back his 49,450, it’s supposed to be 49,500 but stamp duty no be me go pay am for am I gat remove am.

You have done well by refunding, it shows a high level of contentment and mark of trade. Sadly not everybody is inline with this same concept and understanding. For some persons, this will only be seen as an opportunity to enrich themselves of a few dollars.

Funny but you also have some level of "i no go gree"
If na me enh, Of course i go return the money but na the next time day i for reply am. Nothing i detest pass these boys wy dy try pick pocket for bybit. So annoying for real. They have a platfrom you are already but your aim is to look for unsuspecting hardworking people.

You did well, it shows that we still have men of honor amongst us

Not necessarily about the economy, some can withold it as a form of revenge for the fraudulent acts and manipulations constantly orchestrated by his fellow P2P merchants on the exchange against innocent and unsuspecting victims. It's very good you kept your integrity though.

I know how the buyer/vendor will feel when he finds out he has mistakenly paid you twice, but thank God you have a good heart and you refunded the buyer/vendor his money at ease. There are some persons that will have such opportunity and they will not even refund the over paid money to the buyer/vendor, and they will be giving excuses upon excuses just to make the buyer forget about the money, so i commend you for returning back the over paid money to the buyer/vendor. Even if the economy of Nigeria is bad at the moment, if people receive double payment in p2p, they should make a refund to the buyer/vendor, and the hardship in the country is not a valid reason for people not to return the money.

You did the right thing because it was not your money, I have never been in such situations before, either the buyer delays or they fail to send the complete payment. But, even though I find myself in such situations, I need to ask myself, is this my money that I don’t wants to refund it to the person who made the mistake? Why would someone sit comfortably and eat someone else money that they did not work for? There are not other options but to return the money to the owner.

What would you feel if you were in his shoes and the person refused to refund your money after you mistakenly credited them twice? You will also feel bad about it, so if you don’t like it when someone does it to you, don’t try it on others. He mistakenly credited you twice and you returned the money, and that’s good because some people may play stubborn to return it.

The vendor should be thankful to God that we still have people with integrity in Nigeria. If it were you, who released the coin when the buyer has not paid, I doubt the buyer will send the money or run away with it.

That aside, my concern here is why you chose to show the name of the buyer and his account number, when you should have highlighted it, the same way you did yours.

What if you were used to launder money? I do not trust any vendor and yes no body is above mistakes but I will take no chances, you did a good thing to return the money to the vendor but you did not do it the right way that will exempt you for any possible problems if there will be any.
You traded with the vendor on Bybit so if any mistake happens you and the vendor should discuss and solve it on Bybit not on WhatsApp for you to have a strong evidence.
If I were you I will tell the vendor to chat on Bybit and we discuss there.

This must be kind of you and truly portrayed the person you are, I've been seeing a lot of people engaging into P2P and messing up the whole thing because they are not trusted but in this year case you prove to them all that even amazed other people that cannot be trusted someone like you can be well confided with trust, the person you ever did this to will always remember you for good because seeing this happened to him will also be a lesson that he will never wanted to cheat any other in his life since you was never cheated before even at the peak of the mistake he did, this is more about moral discipline and taking things the way it should, because the Nigerian P2P have to be carefully looked at if you don't want to enter into a trap.

Innocent me, am not aware of these if not for the fact that you just mentioned it now but I know God wouldn't let me run into any problem since my hands are clean. Anyway Thanks for the knowledge.

Its a good thing that you refunded him because there is always the likelihood that he could have reported the issue and bybit would have made it impossible for you to use their services again, taking the conversation outside of bybit wasn't really a good idea if you ask me, provided that you want to be transparent the best thing to do would have been to keep the conversation with the app, that way bybit themselves be privy to everything if things went side ways and you would net be affected in any way, he was lucky to have met someone like you though because sometimes a report would have done nothing to you especially since the mistake did not come from you.

Had it been everyone could be like this, they use of Bybit exchange for p2p could have been a better experience, but I have this hidevice for us all, always try to make use of the filter option to set for your trade with any merchant you will be dealing with, because the filter option helps you to select the verified users block advertisers and those that has good reputation in trading over time there are no scammer, but when you feel to thick in the filter option to select for the available adds, to you may be having lots of unverified advertisers that are mostly scammers.

Don’t worry. I don’t think you’re used for laundering, as far I know, you’re free from any allegations as far as you transferred back the exact amount to the same account you received the money from.

I doubt we will see anyone come to this thread and say they stole money from a p2p trader and risk their reputation.

However, this is a situation that not everybody would have loved refunding back due to the hard economy in recent time but regardless I just think I did what am surposed to have done by refunding back. So guys have you ever experienced such, and how did you handle it?

You did great by refunding the money.
Hard economy aside, some people won't refund even if the economy was very good. On a few occasions, people just do certain things because of who they truly are. And I noticed you had to refund the money to the same account, which is very smart of you. Sending it to a different account might not have been the best idea considering how crazy dirty money are being passed around these days. And to the question..., I haven't experience such.

I think this kind of a thing is not unusual, it is a common error that occurs during financial transaction and sometimes could happen as a result of network error. Particularly myself, i have not gotten such experience in bybit exchange, not even in any other cryptocurrency exchange. As a matter of fact, such mistake can happen to anybody, so it will be a wise decision if you  refund such money and to me, any body that refuses to refund such money is seen to be a fraudulent person. Furthermore, bybit exchange has a report center, if such matter is being reported to bybit with evidence, the person involved might be banned from using bybit exchange.

Innocent me, am not aware of these if not for the fact that you just mentioned it now but I know God wouldn't let me run into any problem since my hands are clean. Anyway Thanks for the knowledge.
I don't think so, unless the buyer's name from the exchange doesn't match the bank account that was used to transfer the money. The knowledge should be there already to check if the name corresponds, if it doesn't, you have the right to question the buyer, and however, you are not returning the funds to a different account, it has to be the same account that was used in transferring to you.

However, this is a situation that not everybody would have loved refunding back due to the hard economy in recent time but regardless I just think I did what am surposed to have done by refunding back. So guys have you ever experienced such, and how did you handle it?
It does not take so much to just show an act of kindness and humanity to someone even when you have the opportunity to do otherwise. the little good you were able to return might be same reason why you will not fall for scam while carrying out your trading. believe me that as small as 50k might be to most of us, there are people that are ready to receive negative review of their account rather than refunding the money. there is nothing more satisfying than passing a simple test as this.

You have done well op for returning back the excess money sent to you, and it's a good practice that you didn't pay back evil with evil, because I know how many times most people have been scammed through this p2p services in bybit, by their vending.

These p2p vendors don't understand that it's not by this criminal activities they are trying to do most times when trading with them, is what's going to make them rich. Their is more to life than that, but funny enough they finally made a mistake by paying twice. They are just luck that they met a very good citizen of Nigeria like the op, kudos to you yablee0

Not everyone would love to refund but they will risk losing their account on the exchange you used in doing the p2p, because if the p2p guy fit report you say in pay you twice the amount way unah agree and that you have refused to refund, the exchange will ask for a proof from him and will also ask you to bring your account statement, if you don't provide your own proof, they can block your account with the funds you have in it.

The person can also report your account with the right legal documents and the bank will block your account and give you deadline to respond, if you failed to respond, they will reverse the money back to the person.
