Has anyone noticed whether memecoin Telegram groups are still alive in 2026?

A few years ago these groups were popping up everywhere, but lately many of them seem inactive, bot-filled, or abandoned shortly after launch. I’m curious how others currently find active and genuine memecoin groups — whether through manual searching, recommendations, or tools/aggregators.

Why do you consider a telegram project as unique and a determinant to know if a project is still alive or dead.
There are other platforms crypto projects may not do without and I don't think that Telegram is among them and before now, telegram was not created for cryptocurrency projects alone but a general community where people can talk and share ideas in a open group.
Most successful crypto projects do not even have a a telegram space to accommodate users and participants that which to join the group.

Why do you consider a telegram project as unique and a determinant to know if a project is still alive or dead.
There are other platforms crypto projects may not do without and I don't think that Telegram is among them and before now, telegram was not created for cryptocurrency projects alone but a general community where people can talk and share ideas in a open group.
Most successful crypto projects do not even have a a telegram space to accommodate users and participants that which to join the group.

What I mean is that during previous cycles almost every memecoin project was aggressively shilled across Telegram groups and Twitter (X). Telegram groups were full of nonstop promotion, bots, raids, paid posts, and hype-driven discussions.

But in 2026 the situation feels very different — there is noticeable silence. Much less visible shilling, fewer active Telegram raids, and far less organic hype around new memecoins. This raises an interesting question: where are memecoins now, and why has the noise disappeared?

In my view, memecoins haven’t disappeared — they’ve migrated. Promotion has shifted:

from large public Telegram groups to private alpha groups and closed communities

from mass shilling to short-lived launches on-chain, especially on Solana and Base

from long hype cycles to fast pumps driven by insiders, bots, and influencers, often lasting hours, not weeks

Twitter (X) is still used, but mostly by a small circle of accounts, not broad community discussion. Telegram is now more about coordination, not open promotion.

So the lack of noise doesn’t mean memecoins are dead — it likely means the meta has changed. Less public hype, more speed, more automation, and more insider-driven launches.

That’s why it feels quiet, even though activity still exists — just in different places.

And I wouldn't be suprised if it would change up again in the coming months and years.

Telegram mining apps season has passed already, and nobody is hearing about them any longer. When there was hype, you just going to be seeing different telegram mining games popping out, which most of them turned out to be scam, just few paid well, and some paid rubbish amount of money.

The hype only lasted for a year. The next year, 2025, the hype died down. Even before 2024 ended, the hype had already started to die. I remember Notcoin was the first, and it paid really well. After that, the Telegram airdrop boom, which caused Telegram’s revenue to soar. But where there is hype and opportunity, scammers also go there. Even before the mini app trend, Telegram was already known for being a place of scammers. Of course, not all, I still use Telegram to get some updates, but not for memecoin hunting.

Right now, there isn't any interest for crypto in general (let alone altcoins).

The X algorithm has all but completely stopped recommending crypto posts to people as people either A). Aren't interested in altcoins (memes inluded) that have gone down -95% or B). They are somewhat interested but have no money to spend. Our X view count and follower number have decreased with this latest bloodbath, even though we're doing the same number of posts/replies.

There will be better times though. We'll need to see ETH break new all time highs before we can even think about "rolling memecoins like we used to".

If we speaking about telegram group signal or discussion group for memecoin i have to says it is still alive but the difference is for some people the group is private and only small members which still survive to support memecoin and why i am saying that because since few months ago i have joined private group on telegram for memecoin although we only small communities but for each days we always talking about the potential coin which possibly will give us the profit and so far i have very satisfied for these groups so, from this proof i just wanted to says it is still alive and on going

People already have lost interest on all these scam telegram tokens, when a number of people already participated last year and got the biggest disappointment of their lives by not being rewarded, after some even used their money to buy stars and many others, i can only say of my own self as of now, that i never revisit those shitty projects and mining again.

That’s exactly why I stopped using them — at least two people I know never received their rewards and were extremely disappointed. It’s a sad experience, and I really feel for them 
The whole thing feels highly unreliable, so it’s better to look for other options.

Of course, X is probably even worse,,, at least Telegram you can talk to people, share files etc but now I use email for that but X is pure garbage social media.

The creator of the www himself calls social media like X and Telegram as the shitty corners of the internet,,, now he said this 10 years ago I cannot imagine what he says today if he sees memecoins and shitcoins and dogcatanimalcoins

He seems to have pull the plug and move on to other things, because according to him, new projects are total shit, as they're only created to waste their time. Maybe this  could just be the endgame for these types of scams projects. Like I said before now, I would be so surprise to see people getting involved in things like this, in 2026.

your friend is experiencing the logical outcome of a permissionless system with low barriers.
the projects aren't designed to waste time; time-wasting is a profitable byproduct. the actual scam is the narrative sold around it - the community, the alpha, the insider access.

people aren't buying a coin, they're purchasing the feeling of being early. the entire system, from social platforms to dex interfaces, is optimized to manufacture that feeling. telegram groups get purged, so they migrate to twitter spaces or discord.

the underlying dynamic doesn't change. the SEC's past crackdowns or twitter banning crypto ads didn't stop it, they just shifted the channels. so in 2026, people will absolutely still be involved because the human drivers-greed, fear of missing out, the desire for belonging-are constants.
the technology just provides a new playground.

those who get burned eventually learn to read the terms of service of the internet: there are no guarantees, and every 'community' is a temporary alliance of interests. your friend didn't leave because projects got worse; he left because he internalized that the game is rigged.

At the end of 2024, it was already clear that such projects on Telegram were heading in the wrong direction. In fact, even then, they brazenly asked for donations and then handed out meager drops, which in the end were even less than what users had donated. By the way, many of these tokens have already been removed from exchanges, and honestly, it's unclear what people who are still active there are thinking. In fact, it's a waste of time.

If you are following those groups, it should basically be for one reason which is because you invested on their token, if you didn't invest on their token, I don't think you need to be in those groups because that's where some scammers will get to you after sending you a message. Before this time, when you want to invest on some memecoins projects, you will check how active their social media groups are and telegram is one place people always check too, so back in those times, it was relevant to check but right now, I don't invest in memecoins and I don't even know how well those groups are doing now.

I can't even see if at all they have been active, because I hardly visited this memecoins on the telegram channels anymore, once I was blind now I am well informed and can't afford to be in the dark as before, they are nothing than scam, not only that they are disaster awaiting for calamity to fall, but also, they are straightly a waste of time, money and efforts.
