I have used Trust wallet in 2025 and uninstalled again because I wasn't ready and today I decided to give another shot but I was met with something different, instead of the old way of generating recovery seed I was given a extra option, so my discussion today is about this extra option. It's called Swift Beta, for anyone who is familiar with Trust wallet. https://talkimg.com/images/2026/01/30/UE6x4o.jpegThis option gives users the possibility of creating and recovering crypto wallet using Face ID or Fingerprint, they claimed that this is done with device passkey automatically. Is this even recommendable for someone who is new to crypto? Is this better than the old method of writing seed phrase down? Can someone also teach how to upload images on here? I would have dropped my screen but I don't know how. Thanks.

AFAIK, using face ID or finger print is for your passkey which is different from your seed phrase. So you are still going to be given seed phrases to write down. It's an additional security kind of. Can someone also teach how to upload images on here? I would have dropped my screen but I don't know how.
Thanks.

-snip- It's called Swift Beta, for anyone who is familiar with Trust wallet.
I wouldn't recommend Trust Wallet for beginners or average users under any circumstances. Most recently, their extension wallet had a serious security issue last month. Instead, use the ones listed here. -snip- Is this better than the old method of writing seed phrase down?
I wouldn't rely on my limbs to back up my keys, even if I just remember them with my brain. The ideal key backup is to extract them to physical media (tamper-resistant is recommended) and store them in a secure location. I use talkimg.com for this forum image and pictures, it works pretty well, all you have to do is copy and paste the link on here and it uploads straight away. Although you are still a newbie, you will need to get to jr member atleast before pictures will show up in your posts, you can still drop the link in your post and people will still be able to view the picture. Trust wallet has been really disappointing, for starter it's a closed source wallet, I won't advice you to use it, if you don't have money for a hardware wallet right now you should find a open source wallet like Unstoppable wallet. Trust wallet teams are ridiculous, they are even allowing cloud storage of recovery seed, this is a big red flag because this is not how recovery seed should be kept. They should know better, that recovery seeds are only safe offline, not online. And now they bring this Swift Beta shit, don't use it if you must use Trust wallet, better you stick with the normal recovery seed method that every reasonable crypto wallet are used to. The image you uploaded even said "recommended" to the first option, it is better if use the first option.

I don't recommend it, as it eliminates any recovery process.
If you lose your passkeys, you won't be able to recover your coins. It's similar to local wallet encryption, and decryption is done via biometrics (Face ID/Touch ID) and passkeys.
Device loss or failure means you lose your coins.
Creating a new wallet is necessary every time you want to transfer your coins from one device to another.
Closed-source and may not be cryptographically secure.

If you are not sure about the new feature that trustwallet have then you shouldn't use it and just use the other option which is the seed phrase. I haven't tried that Swift beta myself and I don't know if there's also seed phrase or not but if there isn't then you shouldn't use it as if you lost your phone then you will lose your wallet or the chance to recover the wallet without the passkey on the device used to create the wallet. I am not sure if it also has seed phrase but I think there is and only use passkey to make the recovery faster than normal. Anyway, just wait for your forum account reach jr. member rank or have copper membership before the images will display using bbcoden or it will only display in url mode or link only.

Well to start with, if it's trust wallet well I'm not recommending it no matter how fancy it sounds. If you want a better level of security use an open source noncustodial wallet and if you like you can use a custom see in addition. Biometrics on your wallets is not very safe in my opinion. It's very easy for people to broadcast transactions mistakenly if they can confirm the transaction broadcast without having to consciously type in a PIN or password.

Trust wallet is one of the most friendly beginners Wallet with strong security and unregulated meaning it keep users Privacies. It is very much easier to swap and process crypto transactions safely which I don't think should be powered by Binance too. I don't know the other option about writing of recovery phrase down. I think I know only one during then I came into the system newly while using trust wallet then. It is just after creating your wallet address then you will be generated your seed phrase for recovery. So you you can just write it anywhere of your choice while safety should be a prior.

I had a terrible experience using Passkey, I will never recommend.
What are you going to do if you don't have access to your device anymore? The last time I used a passkey and I updated my phone to a new version by installing a custom ROM I couldn't login, the app kept requesting for the old ROM/Phone and I don't even backed the ROM up, this was how I lost access to my account.
It does have this advantage of protecting people against phishing scams or poor passwords hygiene that most people still practice today, but that's it .
Passkeys use a private key stored securely on your device and for your device only and a public key is saved on the website server, this prevents human errors and the private key never leave your device.
Here is the catch, cloud backup and device synchronization either through iCloud or Google allows you to access passkeys across all your devices., this means that something can still go wrong, I still smell cloud storage type of nonsense here and this makes Passkey a bad idea for crypto investors.

I won't even recommend using Trust wallet in the first place It would be better you use electrum or cake. And on the face verification isn't that just them introducing kYC to their wallet And they still aren't ashamed to call themselves non custodial. Find a better wallet. Trust wallet isnt worth it.

When I was navigating with convenient wallet to use in the crypto space as a beginner, honestly I was very much comfortable with the trust wallet because it is a user friendly platform. But I had to dump or because the security parameters can not be reliable. Especially when have plans to hold for too long while Trust wallet is programed in the public infrastructures, so electrum is privatized and stores your seed phrase and keep wallet storage offline. It is also of new update to me today that the so Trust wallet had moved on to include Kyc to their system. That wallet must be broken by now because it all plays like a joke. A decentlized platform like that requiring facial verification? It is a failure.

This option gives users the possibility of creating and recovering crypto wallet using Face ID or Fingerprint, they claimed that this is done with device passkey automatically. Is this even recommendable for someone who is new to crypto? Is this better than the old method of writing seed phrase down? Can someone also teach how to upload images on here? I would have dropped my screen but I don't know how. Thanks. Though Trust Wallet might look very common amongst crypto beginners, but on the contrary, I still can't recommend Trust Wallet to be used as ones primary wallet for storing your Bitcoin, since their is a claim that users don't actually have full control over there funds, despite offering seed phrase for security purposes. So when it comes to this new feature, I think integrating face recognition and finger prints as a medium for unlocking wallets is actually a welcome development, but not to be relied on, since it's very possible that if you mistakenly have an accident and you probably got crash or wound on your face, the face recognition might not work effectively again, or probably you have an accident and your fingers got cut off in the process, it will be very difficult to later have access to your wallet. Hence, I still emphasize that 12 words seed phrase should be a priority for Bitcoin investors.

Which promises they say are not important as the vital point is whether their wallet is open source or close source. By disliking Trust wallet, you knew that Trust wallet is close source that is true. While in cryptocurrency, there are many wallet brands to choose including open source wallets with good histories as well. So why don't choose them rather than pick Trust wallet and put your fund safety in a close source wallet like them.
Face recognition and fingerprint check look to be cool features but they're risky feature for verification. You will become dependent on physical operation of your device from camera to sensor for either face or fingerprint verification types. That destroys the utility and important of private key or mnemonic seed, that if you have it, you can access your wallet easily. Hence, I still emphasize that 12 words seed phrase should be a priority for Bitcoin investors.
With any method, it's super important to back up your wallet. Let's read how to do that properly especially newbies. How to back up a seed phrase?

Face ID and Finger print are only device sensitive, they are not the control measures to our coins on the blockchain, because the asset we had are not stored on these wallet used, instead on the blockchain, so anything that has to deal with device specific should not be seen as a control measure to perfect security of our wallet, we should waste our time on what is not,

In December 2025, the Trust Wallet Google Chrome extension was hacked. Hackers used a leaked Chrome Web Store API key and distributed a malicious update via the official account. https://trustwallet.com/blog/announcements/trust-wallet-browser-extension-v268-incident-community-updateIn 2023, a low-entropy issue was reported, indicating that Trust Wallet lacked strong security.

I would still prefer seed phrase, because fingerprints are unique to everyone but it does not mean that it can't be stolen but that is a good option for short term wallets instead of securing seed phrases of such wallets, anyone can use their finger prints but what if the device in which you are holding your funds stolen by someone else, or what if it resets, or what if someone else adds their fingerprint in the device, or what if the fingerprint faces issues and stops working. There are many things that can go wrong, which is risky, although with face lock it is even riskier. That's why I would prefer seed phrase option, no doubt the seed phrase security is found to be an issue for many.

Man, just avoid the Trust Wallet passkey-based wallet called Swift. Aside from not having a seed phrase, it is worse than I thought. Here's a shocking revelation about the wallet by a Reddit user: https://www.reddit.com/r/trustwalletcommunity/s/XXXjvKUarJIf you need a multi-coin wallet, Unstoppable or Cake Wallet are much better than Trust wallet.

If you're a beginner, it's best to stick with recommended apps - personally, I'd recommend BlueWallet/Electrum. There's no need to use a fancy wallet, even if it claims to have more advanced features or the latest technology, but you simply don't know how well it's tested. Also, Swift Beta doesn't have a seed phrase option and relies solely on device based passkeys for security, meaning you don't truly have full control over your private keys like you would with a typical non-custodial wallet. So, it's best to avoid those if you want to be safe.

Seriously, it’ll be issue to see that you use something you don’t understand to store your money, so use what you understand to for wallet, it’s not advisable to what you don’t know, this is one thing you should understand if your money is gone, you won’t get it back anymore it’s better to use what you know. However, the swift beta you are saying I don’t even know about it, I haven’t heard anything like that. If you are going to use it, make sure you learn about about it and know what you are doing or using.

Trust wallet is one of the most friendly beginners Wallet with strong security and unregulated meaning it keep users Privacies. It is very much easier to swap and process crypto transactions safely which I don't think should be powered by Binance too.
I have read many threads from newbies who were complaining about some of the challenges they faced while using trust wallet so i don't think it is recommendable for beginners. You talked about swapping coins on trust wallet, have you ever tried swapping any coin to another and it worked? The last time i used trust wallet it was full of bugs and the most annoying part was when i tried withdrawing my bitcoins and i was seeing an error message which reads ''UNABLE TO TRANSFER DUE TO DUST UTXO ERRORS'' but when i switched to electrum wallet i didn't experience anything problematic.
