That's because most altcoins are driven by hype. Not real utility. Once the excitement ends, it will be bye-bye to altcoins for good. Only a tiny portion will survive. That's why it's always best to diversify your investment. Put most of your money into Bitcoin, while keeping the rest into alts.

For short-term trades or seasonal hype, altcoins do wonders. Whales and insiders often know the rules of the game, which is why they're always so successful with altcoins. The rest of the people aren't that lucky, because they're blinded by greed. The majority selects a random altcoin with the hopes of getting rich quick. All without doing prior research. Most of the altcoins are just created and they lack what we call promotion, people who are promoting this altcoin so more people can invest in them, since the solemnly depend on bitcoin to thrive is always a very difficult situations for them to crash whenever there is downturn in the market.

You should know about the volatility of the crypto market because here you will not only see pumps but also you will see many big drops. The previous altcoins market cycle is already lost because there has not been an altcoin season for many years. If you are too optimistic about investing in altcoins then I disagree with you. Besides promotion, most altcoins also lack utility. Because a vast majority of them are only driven by hype. People often see altcoins rising to the moon during periods of hype, making them believe the pattern will continue for the forsseable future. The "get rich quick" mindset will never go away.

The OP is right that we are not ready. Even seasoned crypto users like myself can make mistakes sometimes. All because of the highly-unpredictable nature of the crypto market. Unlike Bitcoin, altcoins are much more volatile and less reliable. Newcomers usually fall for the trap, and end up getting "rekt" in the process. Everything is a mystery in crypto land. Better diversify your investment, to prepare yourself for the worst.

Same obsevation here, let see if that's going to happen as there are new projects that will be introduce and old projects that will lose support and be forgotten, it's a cycle inside that crypto traders and investors are watching around, finding decent assets that they think that will give them decent benefits but the fate of the entire industry relies with how investors and traders will follow and support the project.

Given that OP posted that at end of January, when markets were already dropping fast for months, end eth dropped right after this, i am not sure what part you are waiting for. Sure there could be another leg down but people seem to already be preparing for that. That wasn't the case for many people when OP posted this and many of the holders saw what happened before this as some sort of dip. Now that they are out of hopium, it actually rises my hopes, because people are always wrong about the chart.

We should not scare the people all because of the bear season, it's well-known already that we have such coming and at the same time we could also enter into the bull season, everyone should prepare for this so that it won't happen in an unexpected manner to us, cryptocurrency has always been volatile and many things are happening to determine the rising and falling and we also have to be more careful to ensure that we invested on a coin that has visible utility.

I have a friend in this category of those that put a lot of hopes in their altcoin investment and, each time I have conversations with him, he is always talking about how rich he want to become through his altcoin investment, he is holding near for sometimes now, and when the coin pumped in price recently, I advice him to take profits but he was expecting something out of the ordinary until he lost all the profits that came along with that pump market, now the price of near have dropped.
