Lol, did you notice the percentage he offered to pay back as interest? Even though some people might be skeptical about the legitimacy of that request from a forum staff, greed can not allow them to make the right decision to dismiss it. Imagine making 25% profit within just three days. People can easily for this considering that the request came from a reputable forum staff. And even involve theymos in his shady behaviour.

NotATether how convenient do you find typing the forum url on daily basis? Angry I have the forum page bookmark and pin in my browser and even when I try to type manually, my browser keeps suggesting the accurate url for me.
That's a good percentage but that doesn't matter. The fact is that this forum has thousands of Bitcoins in reserve. Cyrus and other people should definitely have a couple of Bitcoins in their pocket. Even if they need a loan, they wouldn't ask about it on this forum and more specifically, they wouldn't pin a loan thread on the main page in news section.

Seems, the creator of that phishing website doesn't know the history of bitcointalk very well because if he really wanted to scam people, he would use a different person instead of Cyrus. I ask this to OGs. Do you remember one guy on this forum who would come suddenly, ask for a big loan and then would give you back a huge percent? He didn't really need a loan, he was just having his fun. P.S. Hint: He had a mental issue (maybe not really but pretended to have).
If you guys don't remember who I'm talking about, then I'll publish his name but I don't want to reveal it because I don't want to inspire scammers.

Imagine making 25% profit within just three days.
Imagine also loosing 100% in just a second because the moment you send those funds, it's as good as gone.

Seems, the creator of that phishing website doesn't know the history of bitcointalk very well because if he really wanted to scam people, he would use a different person instead of Cyrus.
I still have my reservation that the person who made that clone knows bitcointalk.org very well and even has a very strong technical background. Hey, did you observe they even used the correct board? Just that their desperation to scam made them look very stupid in their delivery. They used Cyrus since they may think some users would hurriedly want to be in his good books by helping him with the loan and pinning it might as well indicate some sort of urgency.

Like people are actually using good skills they have for the wrong reasons and I am wondering, is it that they won't make money with this topnotch technical skill by using it in the right way or it's just that some persons are just cool in reaping through fraud and scam? Actually they needed someone with famous reputation where forum members won't think twice before hurrying to send the loan and Cyrus happened to be their pick. The internet keeps getting scary everyday.

Hmm; I don't think I've encountered this kind of identical website spoofing but I've experienced similar with the same motive designed to deceive people and targeting website users too.
This one spoofing bitcointalk is so conviceable to be true if you paraventurely unknowingly visit the site and your head is not down to observe their differences.
Let's not keep to forget the importance of verifying Url links is also a watchword to our security concerns in the crypto so space.
Who knows how many the phishing site had harmed given the reputation of this platform negative images.
In fact, I support its track down.

The first thing that went through my mind when I came across this thread was that why are there not many more of these scam websites. Considering there have been a massive number of cloned mixers with similar matching URLs, I am surprised there are not many clones of the forum. I hope innocent people do not fall for the scam.

There is currently a fake Bitcointalk clone with URL bltcointalk.org (L) online with a sticked message (topic ID 5572197) called "Administrator needs a loan". ~
