I just went to Meta today to see NotATether post about a scam site that is a clone of bitcointalk.

The 'i' on bitcointalk is replaced with 'l' (i.e L) on the scam site which is...

...a scam site:
Code:
https://bltcointalk.org/

Do not click on the scam site. If you login on the site, the scammer will know your login details and use it to access your account on this forum, according from what I found outbout the risk.

The site look like this forum to the level that it has all the local boards and fake Nigeria board is also there.

I'm new here, and thank you for the warning. It's pretty easy to fall into the trap, but probably everyone needs to bookmark the forum itself so as not to accidentally enter their username and password on this fraudulent site. AI is quite talented nowadays, and perhaps a duplicate of the forum was created with this particular tool. Be careful!

Wow! This is the very first surprising discovery of 2026, I almost asked what's wrong with you to have call this forum a scam because I didn't even observe that "I" Has been replaced with "L" Until I read the complete post before I realized it. The chance of falling victim to these kind of scam method is high.

Thanks a lot OP for sharing this update here on our local board, because most of us here bearly go meta board. And my advice to each and everyone of us here is to be very careful, because scammers are upgrading their scamming skills from time to time. Further more Nobody knows what was the intention of person who created that fake site to clone peoples Bitcointalk account. But all I can say here is that, the person intention is to use those bitcointalk accounts he successfully clone to scam other bitcointalk users.

This is just one of the many sites that use alphabetical manipulation to scam people, that site is used to hack into bitcoiners accounts and used for loan request then flee the forum or other type of scams but however, it has been discourse in these local board about such kind of websites and someone like has a whole thread about the change of alphabet in sites I will look for it and add to this thread.

Additionally, bookmaking Bitcointalk.org helps a lot as this scammers use google ads to suggest this scam sites first before you can find the main website.

A long time user would have already had their browser keypad and algorithm recognize if a letter is missing from a word used in any frequently visited site like Bitcointalk.org.
A typo error should always auto correct if you use a familiar device, rather than rely on borrowed phone or laptop to access the Bitcointalk site.
It is in such scenarios that a typo error can of course bring out a site like the one forementioned by OP which is of course a scam site. Be vigilant, learn to use smart keyboards and bookmarking is a skill for those who know the value of safekeeping.

It’s so unnoticeable except you’re the type that pays so much attention to things if not you would conclude it’s correct but yeah buddy you are right, Bitcointalk isn’t hidden as long as you have used the devices before but even on a new device you probably shouldn’t be deceived by anyone site because you should be familiar with the Bitcointalk.org.

How terrible is their Scam - those who are new to learning about Bitcoin will easily fall victim to their fraud. And they will fall into the trap of all those scammers.Their one-letter scheme is not an easy matter at all. Those who are old to this site can also mistakenly enter their scam site in a hurry. As you said, their scam site is exactly like our site. And there is also a Naija board on that scam site.

I don't know what they actually gain by cheating people. But they are not doing anything good at all. Can their site be turned off somehow? If ordinary members or our legend members take any action against them, it will be good. I just want their scam site to be turned off, to be completely destroyed. This will at least keep this site and our board safe. And OP, thank you for alerting us with such a beautiful fact.

These scammers no dey sleep oh. Them dey find different means to steal from people. They used an administrator name to ask for a loan of 2 BTC. Them dey aware say Adminstartor like Cyrus na big and people fit give am the loan. Thank God say nobody don fall for this scammers because losing that kind money fit make person made. Thank you OP for sharing this information.
Like the person behind this must be a genius, there's simply no difference between both sites and I'm very sure someone dump would fall for it's attempts. I was surprised upon seeing the site and he even used the admins name and profile, making it look so real.

This is why it's very advised to use the right links when trying to access any site. Imagine putting in your login details on such a clone site, it would definitely steal your password and get access of your bitcoin talk ACC.

Lesson from this is to check the URL of the site you are visiting properly and avoid using Google.. most of the time it would simply give you a lot of suggestions similar to what you are looking for..

You don visit the site? This one u don know say them get naija board for there.

This is a bad way of scamming sef, people dey make that kind mistake when typing bitcoin? Your device autocorrect suppose do em work.
For me that case is very rare unless someone tells you it’s how the site is spelt.

You have really done well to discover this and sharing it in this forum. These scammers are very dangerous in nature and it takes deep observation to be able to identify that the website is a scam because is just a slight difference. With the increasing activities of these scammers, I think it should be a point of duty for us to look out for these scammers and identifying their different strategies in other to remain safe even as we navigate through our Bitcoin investment.

While we are looking out for these scammers and their various misleading tricks, it is necessary we deploy every necessary measure to ensure the safety of our Bitcoin investment and avoid disclosing any of our investment information any where.

Thanks for the warning. It's smart to bring it to the Nigeria local board. More people will see it there.

It is really scary how smart scammers are these days.  Changing the “i” to an “l” is going to be something that most people will miss when they are trying to quickly login on their phones.  It is definitely easy for someone to get duped into thinking the site is legit when they have the same layout with the same sections as Bitcointalk.

This also is an example of how careful we need to be before we log into any site.  Always check the URL,  thank you for sharing this post here,  It might save someone’s account.

Thank you OP for bringing this good information to the local board so that our sisters and brothers will be aware of it, and they won't bother themselves to open the fake "https://bltcointalk.org." I believe the fake bitcointalk website was created to expose people's passwords, so I advise people shouldn't click on the fake bitcointalk website if they don't want to lose their accounts.

Yeah, I actually saw this site and even visited it, it a direct clone an exact replica of this site but there are slight differences anyways, for real it's really crazy, I wonder how they think they can actually get people through this, I heard they are using an admin to ask for BTC for vacation, it's really funny to see lol.
Anyways we all should be careful still cause the Internet is field with experts who are willing to do anything to scam others and make money no matter the means, no matter the cost
