BLTCOINTALK.ORG is a scam site

This is quite an important message to this community.I didn’t even notice the letter “L” not until I clicked the content and read it.Scammers are coming up with new strategies that we need to be extremely cautious and updated on their tricks.The issue of fake bitcointalk.org has led to the reason why most users accounts are hacked and compromised.Op you did a great job for bringing this topic here on this local board.In 2024,I created on thread also about fake bitcointalk forum; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5519822.msg64754862#msg64754862
Their intentions is nothing but to steal your login credentials and cause havoc on the main bitcointalk forum by project garbage and scam projects.

Thank you for letting us know of the on this clone stuff. This fraudster should try and rest for once. don't they have other things to do with their life. I am confident that the cloner is a member of this forum for them to have a knowledge as that. We should just be careful on the type of information we'll put out here.

Wow! This is the very first surprising discovery of 2026, I almost asked what's wrong with you to have call this forum a scam because I didn't even observe that "I" Has been replaced with "L" Until I read the complete post before I realized it. The chance of falling victim to these kind of scam method is high.

When I saw this thread, the first thing I checked was my server at the top of my screen to confirm if it was the same as the one the op wrote down, so I noticed that the I was replaced by L, just like the observation you later saw. So op you have really don well to bring this update to our notice because not everyone in this forum have that luxury of time to scroll through the forum and visit every board in a day. Person like me, it might have taken up to a week for me to even notice such a thread since I don't visit the meta board more often. Some people only visit their area of interest and just move on after that, so op a job well done man.

This is wrong. When you share the link to be clickable, many member will get tempted to click and sign into their account.

The scam link will save your password and username in their registry. That account will be lost.

No one should sign in, using the fake talk link.

I just went to Meta today to see NotATether post about a scam site that is a clone of bitcointalk.

The 'i' on bitcointalk is replaced with 'l' (i.e L) on the scam site which is...

At least, two observable features to look out for, there's a wrong spelling in the address as it was indicated by OP and secondly, the entire letters appears in capital letters, I see a need to learn more about punycode scam which members have discussed more about from existing threads, learning more about this kind of scam attempt will make us to be more aware that this is truly happening and we scan prevent ourselves from fake website.

Why will someone just see a link and click it without reading the entire thread?
Besides many people including me have clicked the link to see for our self. Someone who's very dumb will be the victim even after seeing this thread and the other thread on the Meta board. Unless they are not active on the forum before they will make such mistake. I am sure that other local boards are also aware of this clone forum so they will be careful to check the domain properly before they login their account.
Funny enough when I check the clone forum below is what I saw and I was laughed because it's obvious we all know that forum can not be so poor to ask for a 3 days loan 😂

Things like these are really encouraged because person wey no know, fit click on am and that's the end but I get small questions to ask like who later click come enter the site make we know because if we click on the site and there are possibilities of getting scammed, na who take these risk for us and who found out say we also get Nigeria local board for there?

But before you login, you must sign up and if a site ask you to sign up, you supposed know say, something dey wrong. Because you have already signed up in the Bitcointalk Forum and not to sign up again. But thanks for the information. Scammers are doing everything to dupe people in the world. And places like bitcoin and altcoinstalks are some of the major targets for them. We should be careful.

Only looking at the site common sense will tell anyone who is observant that the site is fake as the spelling of the site is wrong. When ever we are about visiting any site we should ensure that we look out for the right spelling of such sites because, from what I have come to know and understand even one word that may be missing or replaced by a different word just like the one that we have here may lead to you visiting a different site entirely which may be a scam site.


There is always one scam that these scammers are trying to develop with the aim of defrauding people of their money so we really need to be vigilant when on the Internet because just one click on the wrong site can make all the difference.

Is like they have also mentioned it as a scamm by some other people on the forum so actually I didn't want to risk it opening or clicking the link because I don't no what is on the other side, as it is already a scam link who knows if is safe for anybody that opens it so actually is good they all avoid it. The way this scanners did it was very surprising and a lesson that everybody should be sure not only by looking at the name but also on the letter one after another because from this from link the scammer just replace the area of i to L and is very hard to notice so actually I really thank those that discover this because they have saved people from potential scamming.

I checked the website, and it seems it has been taken down. Kudos to those who reported it immediately because many novices and newbies would have fallen for it so easily, thinking it was the real Cyrus they know here, when we all know he could not do such a thing.

This is just to show you how desperate scammers can be whenever they are determined to wreck any original website. They could create a fake to imitate the original, and people would think it is the real website, and put their real login details, and the scammers would get it and use it to hack their real account on the real website, taking over it, and they would lose control over their accounts.

I think I came across this topic on the other side of the forum.. At English board how it was mirrored and anyone who is not careful could fall for the traps. Again, we shouldn't try to click on that link as everything seems to be the same, I mean very identical where you could fall for this scam. I do not even know why that domain was approved knowing too well that it is a mirror site to impersonation the original site.

People go think say na minor thing, but sometimes u go make mistake if u dey try access forum, and u go do mistake enter that kin scam site na so u go take lose ur account if u login for that side. Why though? When a suspicious link is shared on the forum, you don’t open the link and try to play detective. If the site was still active, you stand the risk of compromising your safety. Its always good practice to avoid suspicious sites, like the saying goes, prevention is better than cure.

That's not proper you know? trying to open a suspected link that has been confirmed and displayed, you would have lose your account assuming it was still active or functioning.

However, their are somethings we shouldn't risk at all because going through the stress of building an account isn't something to compromise on.

Good update, first as a measure to keep yourself safe from all this scammers and hackers is to make sure that your browser log in us permanently sign in, this way you get suspicious of anything asking for your user name and password, secondly looking at the domain name, only a newbie will fall for this trick unless someone old that is very careless if bot the red spit in this is clear and privelent to notice.

Keep yourself safe and never click on any link sent to you regardless of who is sending them unless you generate or request for the link yourself.

Hacker's will never give up their attempts to get your account and for that you need to also activate the 2FA security measures.

So far the site has been seen as scam and reported already, I do not think anyone should be affected because they have already known that the site is fake. Most people that posted on the thread will also click on the site to know what the OP was talking about as the link is not directly written but posted as a code.

If it is a malware site, it would have been different, although malware is not just install directly on people's devices, it has to be given download permission and be downloaded before the device can be infected. I think nobody will do that when they know it is a malware.

However, their are somethings we shouldn't risk at all because going through the stress of building an account isn't something to compromise on.

What that is most important now is to stake your bitcoin address and you can always check your IP logs. Many people are not doing this but it is better you always check you IP logs.
