Does anyone here actually use self-exclusion in casinos?

Most casinos now have a self-exclusion feature. On paper it sounds good, but I’m honestly curious who actually uses it.

I find it a bit useless. If someone is already addicted, do you really expect them to stop and apply for self-exclusion?
At that point the priority is to play and try to win back losses, not to fill out a restriction form.

So does this feature really help, or is it just there so casinos can say they’re being “responsible”? Curious to hear real experiences, if any.

I don't use it and am yet to see a single casino with this feature, but if you think there's one you have to show us and we may see, but come to think of it this way, how possible casino will put a measure that could be a hindrance to their business in place, when they are not the one to be responsible for any abnormal use of their platform for gambling purpose.

Yes on multiple occasions.

I self excluded myself on casino like Winz.io since they excluded me on all of their promotion including bonuses and VIP benefits so there’s no point on continuing to play in there.

My last self exclusion is on coins.game after losing on their house game with unbelievable losing streak. I will never have any confidence on playing to that kind of game that gives an extreme case losing streak.

For a hero member you should know better how to keep the forum free from spamming,  creating repeated threads make the whole discussions boring and repetitively, we already have two running threads on this topics of self exclusion and it effects on the gamblers just lick this one and we continue the discussion on the other threads.

It's a useless feature too, in my own viewpoint, and the casino just added it just to feel safe in the hand of regulators, or it's part of the licensing requirement; if not, they themselves know it's not working.

This feature helps gamblers who are aware that their gambling activity is becoming excessive or crossing the limit. They still have control to use it and stop for the duration they set. For those who are already addicted, of course, there is no hope that they would activate this feature. They tend to ignore it because it restricts their gambling activity.

There's nothing special about this self-exclusion feature because it's almost the same thing as uninstalling casino app, which you can install back in either Playstore Store of Apple Store and continue gambling from where you stopped. The self-exclusion feature isn't enough to help gambling addicts, and any gambling addict that is solely relying on self-exclusion to overcome addiction isn't ready to solve his or her problem.

I don't think that addicted guy to stop. When he's still remain addicted and has no willing to leave from his addiction. Even if he's doing self-exclusion 100 times, it's all won't work. The cycle is that he's doing self exclusion, then find a new place to gamble with.
That feature only help someone who has willingness to leave from his addiction, fully stop to gamble, and bring back to his normal life.

Beside that it's also wrong to put gambler's addiction as casino's responsiblity. If the gambler did responsible gamble, they would not be addicted.

That option is there so that certain entitled people dont come complaining that the casino is promoting the gambling addiction and not doing anything to curb it. Similar to having links to gambleaware.

If someone really want to exclude themselves, they need to control their habit of visiting the site and depositing money there. If this is controlled, why is there a need for exclusion.

The real control is from the player itself, not the casino.

Self-exclusion is an important feature of every casino. It might seem useless to you because you have not used it. But to others, it has been helpful in their quest to avoid gambling addiction. I have seen many people with gambling disorder who have used this feature and it has been helpful to them. Unfortunately, I have not used this feature, but I wouldn't say it is useless.

I have not used it, but I'm fully aware of its existence. I'm not looking forward to using it, because it has no effect; you're the only one who can control how you gamble and how much you limit. It was placed there for people who play exclusively at that casino and want to take a vacation.

But if you're addicted to gambling, exclusion is useless, as you have the option to open an account and play at other casinos; you've just fooled yourself into thinking that self-exclusion is a way to get away from gambling.

I actually used it a couple of times, just like what @dimonstrationDT2 said, I used it when I experience a couple of unrealistic lose streak (which I know is possible) and before I fully exclude myself I actually try another one and if it's the same unrealistic result, that's the time that I exclude myself because I know that there are tendency that I will try to win back or test that game again. Not only regarding that but there are times when I was new in gambling that I couldn't control myself to deposit whenever I'm losing and the only way to stop it is to exclude myself in the site before I make more damage to myself (financially).

I guess the feature is not for the addicted. It's for those who can still control themselves. Those gamblers who cannot anymore stop the urge can't be saved by this simple feature. Addiction is already the extreme lack of control, which this simple prevention mechanism likely won't address. They need no less than professional intervention.

I don't think the feature is entirely useless. To somebody who is aware of his worsening situation, he/she could take advantage of it to divert his/her focus on something else.

I was addicted to gambling before, I know all the stages. I will let you know that the feature can not help, who is going to later become addicted to gambling will later become addicted to gambling. The person can go for self-exclusion but he will be the one that will make use of another gambling site. This will only make him use more gambling sites instead.
