The Nigeria political landscape often seems dominated by seasoned politicians, leaving many young Nigerias wondering if there's room for them. Let's break it down by challenges youth face:
1. Ageism: older politicians often view youth as inexperienced.
2. Financial Muscle: politics requires significant funding, which youth often lacks.
3.Traditional power structures: Established politicians control key positions and networks.
BUT WHY SHOULD YOUTH CARE?
1. Representation matters: Youth voice are needed to shape policies impacting their future.
2. Innovation and energy: Fresh perspectives and accountability
3. It's a right: Participation in politics is a fundamental right.
WAY OUT
1. Youth-led movement: leverage social media and activism to push for change.
2. Mentorship: Seek guidance from supportive politicians
3. Start Small: Engage in local politics or student government.
Nigeria politics can be for the youth but it takes effort, resilience, and collective action.
One of the key determinants and problem the Youths face when it comes to participating in politics is finance and godfatherim as a Young vibrant Youth who wants to engage in politics and you don't have financial capabilities and backup from elder statemen you go no where even as common as a councillor you won't get, you must have served the politicians for years before you can be considered for the position of a councillor or otherwise.
Besides the Youths of this generation doesn't seem ready to me for them to take over power, all they derive Joy in is becoming Media and Data Boys to politicians, how long will they continue like that and become a voice to what they aim at? It's pathetic where the older politicians doesn't want to bow out of government and give the Younger ones opportunity to lead, the Youths are no longer the leaders of tomorrow as we all sang in primary school so it's high time we take responsibility if we want to take over power as Youths and the key notes you pointed at from 1-3 should be put into consideration.
