Youth Involvement In Nigeria Politics.

Nigeria is a country with a lot of youth, with the youth making up to 35%of the country population. For many years now old people have been in control of Nigeria politics. But things are changing with more youth Involvement in politics, now with the help of social media youth now talk about politics and even go ahead to create forums  online on politics, some even went as far as occupying some government positions.

Not long ago the Government passed a bill called "Not Too Young To Lead. This allow the participation of youth in politics, it gave young people hope that they  can lead the country. The youth are now able to ask for accountability  from the government. The are now able to contest in all government office.

Even with these progress youth still face so many challenges, one of the major challenge that youth face is money, considering the cost of campaign it is hard for youth to the cover the cost of election campaign, and secondly political parties tend to support rich old candidates instead the more qualify young one without money.

Still youth Involvement in Nigeria politics is very important, because youth focus more on jobs creation, energy and technology. They bring in new innovative ideas that can move a country forward.

To help more youth Involvement in politics. The high cost of campaign should be reduce and parties should select candidates base on the ability and credibility to move the country forward and not base on their financial status.

That would have been one of the thing that will happen in Nigeria, the political system of Nigeria is covered by alot of old fashioned people leading the people with same old ideas which the best would happen when there is change in the political structure. The presence of the old men in the political sector of the country is the reasons behind Nigeria's backwardness in all rectification and most especially in development and infrastructure. As for the way the leadership system is runed in Nigeria now and the absence of youth with vision in the system, it  will be difficult going above this level as they channel all there attention and focus in stealing and converting all to there's instead of doing the right thing.

The moment real change will come to Nigeria is when the youth start going into politics and start dislodging this old wicked politicians out of power, because it seems like these old folks are ruling the country anyhow they like because they knows that their time is almost up, so the earlier our youth go into politics and wrestle this country out of the hands of this old politicians that are ruining the country and running it like their personal business the better.
It's no longer a time to seat still and be hoping or praying, now is the time to seize back our country from this old wicked politicians.

Youths are involved in Nigerian politics but we just seem to focus on only one direction which is the office of the president, take a look at our governors almost 90% of them are youth, so what is do you want the youth to do again because already I see they have covered almost 70% of seats in Nigeria. The office of the president is also important if youth can lead but in this regard they are governors who are youth and they are having the same mindset as the old politicians that are still in this system.

I also respect your points but in this regard youth are involved in Nigerian politics already, but they are not showing any impact because they don't have good mindset, so is better we look into ourselves because maybe the youth will have already are not determine to bring progress to the nation.

We have a lot of old people in this Nigerian political system who feel they must rule. Reason why we don't see the youths competing for top position is because these old men have consolidated a lot of power and they feel that the youth are not mature to lead them. That is one thing that is dragging this country backward. At least even if it's not the presidential seat , the youth should still be able to take up governorships, senatorial seat. That bill that was passed is scam. They won't allow it, if the youth were to lead it will really be good, because they have fresh minds and their goal will be for development.

Nigeria will keep surviving but do I hear about development? Completely not because Nigeria is a nation ruled by leaders that have zero empathy or plans towards their subjects, they do as they like. Nigeria can not change especially when we have these old men in charge of the affairs of the country and they're in massive numbers in the government. Who can boldly stand up and face them? I know it's definitely not going to be a fair fight because the best is yet to come. These old men are completely outdated and don't know how to act swiftly on actions. There's absolutely no going back when there are huge power in the government.

Youth are mostly involved in school politics and community politics, they dont want to interfere with the big boys in the field. Remember, each party has to appoint someone to represent them. I doubt the men ruling each political party will allow a Youth to take over power from them. This is very similar to every country. We hardly see a Youth pushing for the presidency or governorship. Even if they do, they wont have much support.

The reason why youths are not too active in politics is because the old politicians used money and big contracts to shut them . During campaign period a youth would be campaigning for a political office and the next the news we hear is he has step down and redirected his supporters to vote for an older politician. These older politician can't win elections without the youths. They may have the money but not the numbers and what matters most in elections is the numbers. If every youth drum supports to credible youth candidates irrespective of tribes and work together, the presidential seat can be won.

For the development of the country and to make it free from corruption, the youth society is needed, without the youth society, the development of the country cannot be expected. The old politicians have a lot of money but they do not have the people. On the other hand, those who have the manpower do not have the money, the support of the common people is very necessary to win the elections, it is very important to support those who are actually qualified and honest, as a conscious citizen, it is our responsibility to stand by the youth because the youth are the future, if we all become aware and stand by the youth, then the youth can win the elections.

It's a known fact that the old politicians has not been good leaders and they are so corrupt that they are only interested in enriching themselves,  rather than developing the country and improving the life's of its citizens,  but I do blame the youths that are not ready to be actively involve in politics,  rather they prefer to be used by this politicians for their dirty jobs. Some of our youth just follow this people blindly,  based on they are from the same tribe or religion.  The youths are not ready for leadership positions and the old politicians knows thus, so they just use them to get power and do whatever they want in the country.

Sowore has been pushing for president for long time and he's a youth, but we don't support him because he's not sharing money like those Thieves is doing every election.  Don't say youths are not pushing, they're pushing but Nigerians are poor and they only vote for money not the best candidate that's why they keep crying after election.

The politicians won't let young people overpowered them that's why they always cause division among the youths during election, and we Youths don't have sense, we keep helping these old fools to control us with peanut after improvised us for years. Untill we keep personal benefits aside we won't get things right in the country.
