I wanted to login to my Bitcointalk account just now through the captcha-bypass code which I use everyday to make the login easy for me, I was unable to do that but I saw this after it failed:





I did not have many login attempts, I did not enter the wrong password because I copy and paste it anytime I want to login. I do not know what could have caused this.

I was able to login with the same password after I solve the captcha. I wanted to change my password before, but I first tried login without the captcha-bypass code and it was successful.

What caused this?

What caused this?
If your password is the same as you told that if you login without the captcha bypass code, you could log in your account successfully, it is possibly that your backup file of the captcha bypass code was edited or it was a mistake when you copied and pasted it. Another reason can be you reset the captcha bypass code somehow but forgot about that.
You can bypass the CAPTCHA on the login page by bookmarking this link and using it to login:

This link is unique to your account. You cannot use it with other accounts. It only works on the login page.

If someone else gains access to your unique captcha-bypass link, then they could try to brute-force your password. In that case, you should reset it:

Have you also checked your network strength because sometimes if your network is not strong enough you could definitely find it very hard to login because most time I also experience same login issues, but when I switched my network to another it login automatically. Then again, when the system keeps telling you that capcha said this shows that you must pass the verification process before you would be allowed to login, even the captcha bypass you need to have login before then you could go back using the bypass otherwise it won't still work for you.

The admin recently changed that message, because I often type in the wrong password, and before it said something like "incorrect password, non-existent user..." Again, now that you say this is happening to you, sometimes it seems to me that I entered the correct password, but it still gives me an error when I try to log in.

This seems like some kind of protection in case someone manages to get hold of someone's bypass link and try to brute-force the password with it.

Your account can be logged out automatically if someone log it out in another device. If it is your case, it's time to check your email security and change email password, 2FA, your forum account password and its 2FA as well.

Bitcointalk has feature when you logout on one device, all current login session will be logout in any device.

I mean my browser or maybe the forum has signed out my account before I posted the second post, I had to login again to post it. The code worked when I login the second time.

It might be just a browser bug.
Are you always signed out every time you close your browser? It might be a browser issue since you enabled the always stay logged in option; it is supposed to be logged in when you open your browser and access the forum.

I suggest try to clear the browser cache and check if there's a new update about your browser. If you are using the Chrome browser, there's a new update recently, so it's possibly a browser issue. So update the browser by going to settings > help > about. It will automatically update to the latest version.

Don’t you think you might have put wrong password? Like as you said you changed your password, on a normal when a password is changed and a new one is set you must make sure to also saved the new password and possibly jutting it down could be more better than just carrying it off your head. Although have never find much difficulties accessing my account maybe it could be that my network is extremely strong without me having to face issues while login in. However, I have not used the bypass link or code to access my account as I usually login through usual methods.

I'm not a fan of that captcha bypass code even if I understand that captchas can be a ton of headache sometimes. I've not used it before but don't you think it might have probably expired or something related. If you've previously cleared your cache it may have contributed also.

However honestly it's the first time I'm seeing this particular error message though. If it was a password related issue you'll get an incorrect password message instead.

I'm not a fan of that captcha bypass code even if I understand that captchas can be a ton of headache sometimes. I've not used it before but don't you think it might have probably expired or something related. If you've previously cleared your cache it may have contributed also.
You can use your captcha bypass code or don't use it for your login, it does not change anything with your account and its security. It only gives you smoother experience with your login action especially if you are using Tor which usually results in harder captcha solving.

You can get the captcha bypass code of your account but you don't have to use it, it's only an option for logging in your account when you want something faster.

As I wrote in a previous post, it seems we have some new measures in place - at least I haven't seen anything like it before.
I hope the forum isn't fighting against privacy too. Similarly this is actually the very first time I'm seeing this particular error message on a login page. If this becomes an issue for tor then it may concurrently happen to those using tor because you have to login every single time manually.

Aside from this the moment your channel is changed you'll most likely get logging out because of a change in IP address. To add to this tor is slightly slower because of the rerouting.

Or, and I'm just guessing here, it could be those measure have always been in place, and someone recently started using Tor to attempt to brute-force accounts. That seems quite futile though. I'd expect the captcha to limit attempts.

The "your captcha code can be invalided" thing always shows up when login fails and you're using a captcha code. The error message is intentionally vague to avoid giving an attacker any additional info. If you're not sure whether it's a problem with your captcha code or your username/password, try it without the captcha-code and see. You have to fail logging in 50 times in ~30 days before your captcha code is invalidated, though, so it's not likely to happen accidentally.

If your password seems to stop working, I would strongly lean toward thinking that it's some problem with your browser or password manager. I don't see any reason on our end why that'd just randomly happen. Somebody reported to me recently that they noticed some possible login weirdness with Chromium, but it's hard to look into this sort of thing without a lot more info.

The IP ban has been lifted, I am able to post now. My browser was able to log me in with the same IP some hours ago. But the browser has changed the IP this night.

I will not login with the captcha-bypass code anymore which I think caused what that happened. The first issue was because I used code, I was later able to login without the code until I used the code again which caused the second issue. I have another code generated already, but I think I will not use it.

If you only have one forum account, you won't need to change your IP address or do anything else, and you're unlikely to encounter login issues. This happens when people have multiple accounts, use the same browser, don't clear their cookies, but persistently try to log in to their accounts under different usernames. Grin
No, people with multiple accounts cannot have this problem, you are getting it wrong. That thread was locked by admin or a moderator, I would have replied you since some hours ago but I have just thought about to quote you on the locked thread and post it on this previous thread. This is not about someone having multiple accounts because you get the whole thing wrong. I have a browser that I use to login on this forum, the browser will generate the IP for me but I noticed it is just one IP address. This issue started which I posted on this thread and got me to another issue which I posted about on the other thread. If you understand what I posted, you will know that you posted something that is entirely different and not fall under both of my topics. People that have the technical knowledge understood what I am talking about.
