My electrum wallet was compromised

Hello i lost all my btc from electrum Wallet.

I'm pretty sure that this situation occurred because of the fishing application in the appstore.
Here is my letter to apple support:

On February 1, 2026, I downloaded the Electrum Wallet app from the App Store.
When I launched the app, it asked for my seed phrase. I already had a wallet on Android and merely wanted to access my account. I entered the seed phrase, but nothing happened.
The next day, I checked my Android device again and discovered that all my funds were gone.
Transaction ID: 3753a790dafbe1b7fc7a70fd70160725697cdd290a7f677ac5f95e6494718318.
I have suffered significant emotional, psychological, and financial damage. I would like to seek compensation, as I believe Apple is partially responsible for this incident. If I had been able to download the app’s installer directly from the official developer’s website, this would not have happened.
You are damaging your own reputation—and the reputation of Electrum—by allowing such situations to occur.

Do I understand correctly that there is no chance to return the funds?
I also contacted the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Do not blame it on the fact that you downloaded the wallet from Playstore, blame it on something else that you do not know about. There is nothing that happened to the Electrum on Playstore. There were times that there were many fake Electrum wallets in the store, bit that is not happening again after we kept reporting them few years ago.

Can you post the link of the app on this forum? If it is this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum, it is not fake. I mean the one that has the 100+ downloads.

Although, I will always recommend people to download it from the Electrum official site instead.

OP can you go in details how this happened so that we can also learn. Download directly from the official site is the best and also verify the GPG key for authenticity

He said App store not play store. I believe that I have read news on how one or two investors lost their bitcoin through the wallet downloaded from app store in the past but I don't know if that has been fixed by apple. There's a topic of such here in the forum.

It's true they have a similar name and logo to the Electrum wallet, but it's difficult to remove this app because they claim in their description that it's:

The best thing to do is leave a negative review and hope someone reads it before downloading this fake app.

Sorry for your Loss. I looked up the transaction hash and both addresses are quite similar. However considering your explanation it's very possible the app was a modded one but it's very unlikely but not impossible for a modded app to be on the official app store. You should have at least double checked with another wallet when it didn't work.

There's nothing you can do once the transaction sent out of the wallet already has been confirmed if not you could use RBF to cancel but in your case it's far too late.

There is no official Electrum app in Apple App store to begin with, so any similar app you find there is run by scammers and that is why you have lost your funds, sorry about that. You should have asked here first if you were unsure of what you're doing, it would have saved you your funds.

Why did you want to have your wallet in two devices, two online devices for that matter. Doing that only exposes you to more attack vectors. I don't know how much you lost here, but the best action is to take it as a hard lesson and learn more about wallets and opsec in this forum.

The thief won't return your bitcoin, and Apple won't compensate you (at least I haven't heard of any). If they did, many similar schemes would be created, hoping Apple would give them money. Learn from the lessons and move on.

Do they (the developers) have a control over if anyone would post a fake app named Electrum there? No, but Apple does.
I know you're in an emotional state right now but something like: linking "not including a certain binary" to "an occurrence of said fake binary" on a third-party platform isn't justifiable.

And based from the context, it seems like you've already checked the website and saw that there's no iOS version available nor a link to AppStore there.
Then it's puzzling why you thought that a random Electrum-named app in the AppStore is safe to use.

I like to believe that anything online is prone to hacking. Expensive device or not. Experienced user or not. There are stories of developers even falling victim for scam through social engineering and other methods of attack.

Yeah true. That is a whole lot of money for anybody and it is sad that op has such a huge amount of money in BTC, but lacks the basic principle of operation security. There can only be one outcome in such combination.

First and foremost, I'm sorry for your loss.  Unfortunately, this was a very expensive, but preventable lesson.  Hopefully you'll be able to recover the loss but the chances are slim to none.  I highly doubt that Apple will accept responsibility for your loss and compensate you.  They are certain to have terms of use in place that protect them from malicious uses of the appstore by third parties, and I can guarantee that their lawyers are quite qualified to protect them from being accountable for situations of this sort.

Going forward I suggest you don't use hot wallets for amounts to costly for you to lose.  I don't keep more than a couple of hundred dollars in cash in my wallet, and by extension I treat my hot wallets thee same.  Use off line storage such as cold wallets for long term storage, and hardware wallets for medium term storage.

The bad thing that OP did was he didn't verify the GPG first before installing it and create a wallet using the iOS Electrum app.
In the first place, if you go directly to the official Electrum, there's no Electrum that supports iOS.
And it seems Electrum developers don't have plan to add iOS version, according to their comment here

This does not really apply in this case. Op was not using a custodial wallet, neither did they intend to do so. Op has a seed phrase that they tried to restore their wallet with, so they are surely using a self custodial wallet and in control of their coins.

Yeah, that is op's shortcoming, poor operational security. And general lack of knowledge, nearly everyone in this forum knows Electrum has no ios version, so there is no chance of falling for this kind of scam.

But the app name is "Electrum App Wallet Management" plus its logo is very similar to Electrum, so higher chance that Apple will take it down. The big question, is why Apple allowed it, besides its "very strict" verification on app uploading on Apples store, still such malicious app have been successfully uploaded there.

I check the address many times but they don't even look similar in any way.

Both addresses are Taproot if I remember correctly an over 70% of newbies that haven't used Taproot addresses before would think that the bot of them are quite similar because only very few people actually cross check when they want to broadcast a transaction others just hit send without even bothering the check.

I've seen cases where a newbie even assumes once the first 4 characters are the same and the last one is same too it's safe to send... Lol it may sound crazy to you but you'll be surprised the number of people that think this.
