An athelete don't just go and keep playing everyday, they just play on the game days but they prepare for that game for entire month or years the same applies for being a trader, you can do just one trade for a month but you are just preparing for that one trade is what makes them a trader.

There are two types of traders disciplined and undisciplined traders. The undisciplined traders are the one who think that trading will make them rick overnight, with this mindset they trade and end up losing everything they have. While the disciplined traders prepare them self for trading first and they understand the risk associated with trading. The disciplined traders can be compared with finest athletes who are well prepared for the job and perform well when it matters the most.
Everyone has to start from the scratch so I won't blame them for doing something we consider as wrong but they also need to make use of their common sense, when they are new to something the first thing is to learn about it rather than expecting the profits so getting familar with trading then going aggressive can make sense compared to just start heavy and lose all of a sudden.

There is one important mistake, totally wrong association from many other (or even most) professions:
drivers drive (almost constantly, vocation time excluded),
teachers teach,
nurses nurse,
beggars beg,
cooks cook,
sportsmen make sport
and so on.

And we conclude that in order to be a trader, one have to trade as well...
No !
Our profession is fully different in this aspect - we are more similar to poets whose main work is rather to be (to BE as awake and curios and sharp, eager to perceive, find and exploit every opportunity outside and inside) than to write, writing is secondary, there are great poets who have not written a single word and many who have written ridiculously little.

Our main task is not to trade, but find, study and judge opportunities. And actually trade only in this relatively rare occasion when the opportunity (for example strong undervaluation or overvaluation of the asset) is judged worth exploiting.

Totally agree. Many fall into the trap of thinking trader = always trading. But really, most of the work is invisible: reading, analyzing, waiting... and only acting when everything aligns. As they say, patience isn't just a virtue, it's a strategy. Good reflection

The more experienced people are in trading, the less involved they are. This is why experienced people prefer to look for momentum when trading rather than taking positions every time. Trading is a choice and perhaps not everyone sees opportunities based on their skills. Some people engage in trading simply because they are driven by the desire to make money. However, not everyone is successful in trading, especially if they lack sound knowledge. It's better to take fewer trades with much greater opportunities, such as capitalizing on the right momentum to trade after thorough analysis and adopting a much more effective approach.

Traders do not have to trade "all the time", because if there is no good trade that you can find that fits your setup then you can spend days even sometimes weeks without a single trade. However, if you are not trading at all, like never, and just hold, then you are an investor and not a trader at all.

I would say that it's clear that many people are missing the point of trading, because trading isn't something you need to do constantly everyday all the time, that is not going to work, it's something that will be done only when you have some time and you find something that fits your setup. This would still require you to trade of course, but only when it is something that you are willing to do and not something you do just to be a trader.

I think you can become a trader as long as you can survive in the market with your skills and experience and be successful in trading. It is important to have some qualities in a trader and if you have all these qualities and can control some of your actions then you are definitely a skilled trader. We know that trading is a risky system here if you cannot take risks then you will not be successful in trading so you have to take steps only then you will be successful. Since you are a person who analyzes different judgments and is quite skilled and experienced about the market then you can definitely say that you are a trader.

Don't you think you're contradicting yourself? Everything you mentioned here is a necessity for a good trader. You don't just trade blindly, you must definitely look out for an asset to trade (find) and then study the asset movement to know when it's good to enter or to observe and finally make your judgement on the entry position, leverage, stop loss or take profit position and the exit plan. These practices are what makes you a trader, not just the buying and selling of assets. But yeah, we can't take away buying and selling from trade, it's the major components. Regardless of how you want to make it sound, you end up buying and selling because that's what basically makes you a trader.

That's what people think of what traders should do, they should have never end the day without doing any trade at all. But that's wrong, trading can be done in a few times and what you're aiming is to profit and not to trade a bunch of it that's dealt to lose your money. And even investors, we also have to trade when we're about to take profits and that's what they need to understand that in either of it, investor or being a trader, trading is always needed and included.

At the end of the day no matter how exaggerated you define a trader is, he need to execute what he had all done by trading.  Trader., yes, analyze stuff and exploit any advantage they see on the market, but jow they can exploit iit? The trader needs to trade.  Trader can never be called a trader if they don't trade.  That's it.

I liked your comparison of traders to poets, even though there's a huge difference between poetry and trading. Poetry relies entirely on emotions, while trading must be completely devoid of them.

However, I agree with you regarding the similarity in seizing opportunities and not trading all the time. A poet waits for inspiration to strike at the right moment to seize the opportunity and produce their best verses, and similarly, a trader must wait to seize the right opportunity and make their best deals.

To be a trader isn't just a days job. One has to have patiently learnt the process and best risk practices to stay safe and enter the market as much as when to use stop loss and exit the market.
There are merchant traders who have dedicated time to trading full-time over years and have so much experience and insight than just normal traders who are just starting to gain little experience and who trade part-time.
Analysis and analytics won't just help mostly now when there are Ai bots that make trading swifter. So a trader must learn to upgrade their skills to stay relevant and increase their profit else be swept under the rug by liquidation if they are stagnant in upgrading knowledge and skills.

You need to focus and be patient very well in trading if you want to understand how he goes, you're right you can't just go into trading and says you will be profitable easily you need to get more experience and knowledge before you can succeed in trading. If you're trader you can't just says you will be trading everyday but I know of people that make trading as a source of income they always try to get something a day before leaving the market such people are already perfect in trading and they are ready to risk any among even they lost they always get the believe that they will win in there next trade.

Very interesting way to look at it and I have to agree that trading is not about placing orders and being active all the time in the market. It is more about observation and analysis. It is exactly what separates professional traders from the ones who only chase action and say crypto is not for everyone like the way poetry isn't for everyone.

But unlike poetry, we need practical exposure and without actually being in the market, and taking positions, it can be hard to build the instinct that comes from a real trader.
So yes, the main task in trading is to wait, search, and find an opportunity, don't chase hype.

Great thanks for all proponents and opponents ! As I have seen I went too far to the other extreme almost saying that a great trader can not trade at all  Smiley
Therefore I have to explain that if you wait ONLY super opportunities like this flash crash https://br.tradingview.com/news/u_today%3A73be1a13a094b%3A0-bitcoin-crashed-from-17-to-0-01-14-years-ago-today/ , you probably can invest too little and though you will get the world top profitability, it is not economically sensible and is too risky.

I will start to buy somewhere in the middle of the last weekend $60K dip and above mentioned super opportunity. I try to stay on the golden mean.

Similarly those who engage in less trading try to consider many aspects each time they enter the market to trade. This is done carefully to identify opportunities that can be exploited making their trading engagement much more effective. Actively engaging in trading all the time doesn't guarantee maximum profits especially for those without adequate knowledge which can lead to more losses.

It's better to engage in less trading, but the potential for profit can be much greater because before entering the market, we conduct a more in-depth analysis based on our trading skills. This way, we can limit ourselves from excessive trading and avoid trading activities that can cost us more money.

No !

Our main task is not to trade, but find, study and judge opportunities. And actually trade only in this relatively rare occasion when the opportunity (for example strong undervaluation or overvaluation of the asset) is judged worth exploiting.
At the end of the day aren't you trading? Even you are holding it; it's kind of trading as well. It's normal; when you see the opportunity, then you will take entry on the trade. That's what everyone has been doing: a few trades daily, weekly or monthly. It's all about your own strategy. 'Trader' doesn't mean you have to trade the whole day or week.

If you don't trade ever, then there is no chance to call you crypto traders.

I agree with your sentiment here because what you said here are the pure truth. More trading doesn't guarantees making more money, instead it increases your chances of losing more money than you never planned for, that is why those that takes less trades, makes more money in the market because they tend to take only the best available trading set up, unlike some traders that trades anything they saw in the market, which is a terrible way to make money in the market.

All my time trading, I have come to understand that when I seat by and wait for the best set up, even though I took only a trade in a day, it's more better than taking plenty random trades that is not 100% guaranteed.

If you are a trader, you mostly will trade and not doing other jobs. That is your choice selecting trading as your main job so you know what to do. Trading is an activity of buying and selling so that called trader.

But if you works in office, you are worker and also a trader at the same time. But being a trader is not easy. You must have good skills to make money and only learning will be the way.

Most traders don't take it as their only job it doesn't stop them from being called traders, you can be a part-time trader and still be doing your other job becit an office job or others so long as you understand the process and you have time to enter the market to buy and sell to remain in profit. Your office job doesn't stop you from trading and if you do not have knowledge of what you do it's better you focus on your job till you have the knowledge to trade because the skills is required if you must be a successful trader just like the knowledge you need in your other office job.

Not trading at all is also another form of trading, just as been silent is another means of communication.

Staying sober for sometimes from trading lets you studying the chart from another dimension and practices something new most times, as it gives you the time to reflect on the trading journey by giving oneself an insight more.

It is better to keep your capital safe so that you don't lose it due to the rush to enter the market and look for some trading pairs to start executing trades with. Trading should not be seen as trading when loses will be the outcome.
Traders have to keep their capital until they see trades that will help them to become profitable with losing too much.

I get your point. I believe what you meant was that traders don't have to trade often (all the time), right? I perceived it from that which I bolded in your comment. I align with that too. However, if you meant no one has to trade at all to become a trader, that's wrong.

The trading market is a place for survivals full of risks . Those who have the funds to risk and stay consistent and also acquires quality educations about crypto and risk management
Until we clearly understand that every aspect of life, not just business, is full of risks too; we aren't going to stop looking at trading as a demon. People have died in their sleep. People have died on their beds from building collapses. People have died from driving their own cars. People have died dancing or singing or any sought of fun, etc. People have lost newly purchased vehicles to accidents. That's a whole lot of cash gone down the drains. These things are too numerous to mention. Risk is everywhere.

Traders have different perspective to the trading profession. Some trade every day because they can always identify opportunities to make a profit. This set of traders can make little profit consistently and also experience losses. Some traders wait for big time oppurtunity to make a high profit. They could determine through analysis that taking a certain risk is worth it because it could bring huge returns. Since I have a full time job, I prefer to trade periodically when such oppurtunity shows up.
