Leadership they say is a very vital role to play when it has to do with a nations economic development and underdevelopment, when the leadership sector fails everything in the country fails as well that is why Nigeria is going backward even with the presence of various mineral resources on ground. The failure in our leadership sector has lead to series of challenges which insecurity that we all know can be handled if the system is pure, lack of infrastructure, failed administration, high rate of unemployment and so on.

I still always think that the problem of our country is not just the leaders, it is beyond that. The problem of our country is more of incompetency. Our leaders are so incompetent to the extent that they do not know what is required to move the country forward. The country also lack funding support for advancing technology and education.

What our leaders know is politics, but if it is about economy, they are incompetent.

One of the cultures in our country has been to earn money through politics. They are elected by the people but they are busy with their own development. Due to corruption and mismanagement, the common people do not get the development they desire. Most of the people in our country do not want much, they only want the right to fulfill their basic needs through work. We need a good leadership who will be a patriot and will work for the welfare of the country and the people of the country compared to his personal interests. Our country has resources but there are no effective steps to prevent corruption. Politics they say in this part of the world Nigeria is a game of interest and every politician that has power only cares about himself and that of his family, here politics is seen as a wealth elevating course that once you get elected into any political position they tend to empower themselves and can't fulfill their promises during campaigns, bad leadership has made Nigeria gone backwards in terms of development and economically even though we are rich in various minerals resources, we don't have competent leaders that would utilize it into good use to benefit the nation.


Effects of bad leadership are numerous  which has led to the Youths to dive into crimes such as kidnapping, stealing, human trafficking and rituals just to survive because if the government had done employment and empowerment schemes to eleviate poverty and all the Youths were engaged such crime would be minimal even if it will still be, having a visionary leader that has human sympathy and willing to make policies that will help Nigeria economy grow and create employment is rare as the ones we have are after their stomach and not the well-being of the masses.

The leader has for so long been blamed to be the problem of this country but even looking beyond that, one can see that it is not only the leaders that needs to can get their way of thinking and their mentality towards how they treat their followers. We the followers also have a role to play from the grassroots level when given a task to handle, we should not allow our leaders mindset to override our integrity because if it does, when tomorrow we’re being given another chance at a higher level, we would want to take advantage of that and behave like our predecessors. This will only make the change never happens and the blaming games continue on the leaders only.

Bad leadership has several negative effects on both the nation and citizens, it weakens the foundation of the country making it difficult for any sector to thrive. Take for instance there are certain businesses that are driven by constant power, due to our bad leadership power shortage is yet to be handled over the years and it is making it difficult for certain businesses to thrive, bad leadership is even slowing down our development as a nation because key duties that are supposed to be performed by top professionals has been compromised because of bad leadership, the right people don’t get in because of bad leadership in the country.

Our corrupt leaders lack the foresight to invest on projects that will help transform the economy of the nation instead they invest blindly just for there selfish political interest, our hospitals and schools too are poorly equipped and this is resulting in half baked graduates who can’t fit into key offices, the poor hospital infrastructure is also leading to many untimely death. We really need to wake up as a country and get things right, we must first handle foundational issues as a country so that we can produce qualified individuals to take over the leadership of the country, that’s the only way things can change.
