The difference between drugs and gambling is drugs are illegal and sometimes it's hard to get and you need to spend a lot of money to use it. Any type of addiction is harmful for us and it's somehow life threatening in the end. Like other addictions gambling addiction is also harmful and those who're addicted to it could surely attempt to do suicide when they lose huge amount of money that they bet and lost.  I would say that everyone should preach gambling responsibility to some loved ones or friends who're addicted to gambling.

Although, it's fun to gamble but when it's done to beat the house and make $10000's of dollars from it mindset then it's not okay as such mindset can make someone hopeful for no reason and after consistent losses or high value bets one's days could be bad or after huge losses one might can't bear such things and might take wrong decisions and one of that is ending the life.

There's no better gift than life and as long as someone is alive one should be thankful for that, the addict should be taken care by loved ones as those can help addicts to understand that there are something that're more important than money, but surely if those addicts have taken huge loans for gambling then such a situation needed to be treated in a different way.

Reading through the OP I realized that there is a point that gambling addiction will lead to suicide than drug addiction in the sense that a gambling addict will intentionally commit suicide but a drug addict will not intentionally take their own lives. Drug addicts gets guaranteed satisfaction anything they are high but there is no guarantee that a gambling addict will win to get satisfaction. I believe that drug addicts will get more fulfilment anything that they take the substances, as long as they are high they feel good even though it's destroying them. A gambling addict can be chasing loses for hours without getting any fulfilment because they're not winning. Every addiction is harmful, we have battled with a drug addicted relative before, my father was still alive at the time and he locked his brother in a room for a month, giving him food through the window, and only escorted him to the toilet if needed, this was only possible because his brother wanted to break free from drug addiction and my father gave him this conditions, his brother accepted.

After a week as passed it became more painful, because his brother felt like dying, I was young at the time but I have always thought that my father's brother was sick, that's all, until the whole thing was over and they started joking about it in the house, 3 weeks later the desire for that drug started fading away.

Till this day my uncle always thank my father for coming up with that idea to beat the drug addiction, I think gambling addiction can't be broke this way because drug is something humans consume like food and if they don't get it they will suffer for some time. IN reality, it's not always this straightforward. If a drug addict has a million dollars, there is every possibility that he would spend that money in less than 3 years. Depending on the kind of person, it might even be a year.
A drug addiction that is at the stage of "substance use disorder and dependency" would not only spend money on drugs, but he will also spend money on any other thing that may help him "feel good. He won't be able to make rational decisions, so he will make decisions that you can't explain. He wouldn't mind spending the money on things like cars and parties. Reality is always different.

As for the statistics in the OP, where gambling addicts are more likely to take their life than drug addicts, this is because the substance drug addicts take doesn't tell them to take their life; it makes them feel good at that moment. They may be depressed, but the moment they're high, all is better in the world. It may not be the same for everybody, but this is how it is for everybody.
When a gambling addict makes a wrong decision by gambing a way a huge amount within hours, he gets depressed, when a drug addict spends a huge amount of drugs and takes them, he feels good.
Then let's not even talk about the number of people (drug addicts and just regular users) who have died from drug overdoses. I'm pretty sure that number is higher than the number of gambling addicts who have committed suicide.

Drug addiction does not mean the person is suffering financially, so this can reduce the probability of drug addicts of taking their own life except they are suffering financially which can increase the probability of them also taking their own lives.

I don't know about the numbers, but as far as I know, there could be some group of people, with their ethnicity and race that could be prone to suicide because they have some form of gambling addiction. But there could be some, maybe Asians that despite being addicted, they can still find a way to pay. Maybe they will quit and stop totally and then make a U-turn and suicide is not a option for them.

This post reminds us that what addicts need most is understanding. I think there needs to be open discussion about this. Many people hide their problems out of shame or fear which makes things more worse. Addiction no matter what form it takes is an expression of a person's inner struggle. Here family and friends more important because if family and friends create a safe environment many people find the courage to seek help.

Can someone get addicted to a particular food? I don’t think so because it’s something I’ve never experienced or seen from anyone close or far from me before. I know there are certain things that can get you addicted like drinks with caffeine and others, but I don’t know that there is any solid food that can get you addicted also, unless if you mixed it with an addictive substance which people do.

I remember back then in school some students will mix Jollof rice with weed substance as ingredient, because of that, they were addicted to such mixture and will always practice that whenever they want to eat the food. It is the weed content that keeps bringing them back. I am also not ignoring the fact that you can get attached to a particular food because it is your favorite but it has not qualified it to the level of calling it addiction yet where you begin to feel some mental illness because you’ve not taken it.
