"My first 'sats' were just stolen again—straight from my PC/Electrum wallet I was advised not to buy a BitBox for such small amounts yet… You didn't explain how your coins got stolen, but if you expose your keys or seed words than it doesn't matter if you are using hot wallet or hardware wallet. What do you mean with exposing transaction? This is already released on bitcoin public blockchain, and you don't need to do anything. It looks like total of 0.00043449 BTC was sent from three addresses.

Let me guess.... this was on Windows, right? Allow me to give you some advice - never store crypto on Windows. All of the newbie hackers are targeting Windows. Because there are scripts and templates readily available to exploit this platform, even distributed freely. It is far better to use Linux to run Electrum on. In fact, you stop almost all hacks like this, besides the most sophisticated ones (where they are targeting you in particular).

You used the word - - again.. Tell us what was the story behind it, that’s when we can only understand what exactly is going on . It could be anything with the tip you just gave us, like using a device infested with malware, even a friend or someone close to you could be the culprit here.

If gets stolen from your pc, then there are some things that is in need of attention First is are you the only one accessing your computer? Are you the only one who have access to your wallet? is your seed phrase not expose or you have put it in a place where anyone who is in your house or keep it in a email account can access it, This are the things you need to figure out, because it might be your family that done it, or your computer is infected with a malware hope this will be able to help you out, sorting things good luck.

If that hack accident happened, loss is forever and the stolen bitcoins are not reversible. It's time to figure out what led to that security accident and wallet compromise but perhaps if you have other things on that computer, you will not have time for checking. It's time for you to change all your passwords of emails, accounts, encrypted files and the most important things are wipe out the OS, and reinstall your computer OS. After completing your computer OS installation, it's time to change all passwords one more time. Make sure knowing how to create and use strong passwords with password managers. But if want to get it flagged, you must report the incident to the authorities.
That is just $30.63. Do you think that can get the attention of the authority? Because the amount of money is too small. All I think is that he should forget about it but he should learn about security and safety instead. The amount is less than what hardware wallet is need for. It is good to know that coins can be stolen through seed phrase. Because of that, he can add passphrase and backup both separately in separate locations. I have lost more than that, not to hackers but some amount to scammers haha it was a ver old story, I fell for private sale scam and it was an old one. Well it depends on the location, amount is amount, if some authorities are giving special treatment to their citizens then they should report maybe this way the authorities will start to dig and maybe in future they would be able to do something. But I know his $30 are not going to recovered, but at least he could report it. If he lost to that scammer then it is possible others might have scammed by him. And yeah bro, he will forget, authorities will forget haha really. But I think he should dig more if he really want to raise flag before getting into another problem that sometimes authorities put. It depends on the country though.

This is not so true, hackers works like Gold miners who find golds anyhow, the prize is what matters to them, some windows OS users still store alot of Bitcoin on their PC, pro hackers know this too. I mean, they knew about Electrum too, they know that it exists only for Mobile and PC, and in today's world windows OS is the most simplest of them all, Linux is complicated and many people avoids it because of this, Windows OS is still the most used OS around the world this is why pro hackers will never underestimate what they could hijack from windows PC.

Op will spend more than the amount stolen to get the attention of the authority but that's a stupid decision. If he has another money to throw up on the case, he should start another investment. No amount is too small for scammers to steal anyway. Even thou the amount involved is small to cause someone to be panic, I like how the Op raises the concern here. He might be planning to get more BTC as times goes on and can afford to lose it. At least he will learn something from this incident and know how to be more serious securing his assets when he acquire new coins. To be honest, this issue of security breach is why many people are still reluctant on taking a step forward to investment.

PC and Electrum wallet including every wallets that can be installed on a PC will never be friendly from now on, it seems that more people keep falling for scams while running their crypto wallet on PC.
You had a plan and you allow some people's opinion to change that, this is the result now, if you would have bought the hardware wallet your PC have no more business with your digital assets.
This is why hardware wallet is the best recommendation for anyone, both newbies and non newbies, many Bitcoin would still be with the rightful owner today if they took hardware wallet very seriously.

As per checking its around $34.18 with the current price of the bitcoin and it seems your device are already compromised have you store your seed phrase offline or someone using your devices, for me basically if you wanted to store your bitcoin funds ideal to use a hardware wallet as a first safety measure if your assets, but if you dont i guess ideal to clean up your device first. Regarding with the filing of report i guess the authority cant handle that thing because at the same time its a crypto they dont have time to chase that address with no one knows where it came from.

I think they should just learn how to secure their wallets and their devices to be safe, but its not that they are newbies because they target windows but because it has flaws that can be exploit, on the other hand, linux are harder to exploit or hack especially if you have harden it, it does not mean its not hackable, but its about the users that is why they are hack more often, they are the one who is careless if we secure our devices properly it is harder for them to hack, but more of the attacks happening are from emails with links, or from the application we have download free from the web with worms/malware.

You are lucky that is not BTC that worth millions of dollars, because you will prefer to lose your life than to live to continue remembering how mistake make you to lose BTC that worth millions of dollar which is a painful thing to some people that experienced it, but don't wish people to experience such thing from BTC. I believe you have learned from this your mistake, because I know you will be verify any transaction before you will send BTC to any address.
I guess you are not the only one that made such mistake in this forum, because I have heard such mistake from some newbies in this forum but it hard for you to experience such from old BTC users, because there are some important things they will like to confirm from the owner of the address before sending the BTC into the address.

There's nothing you can do to recover the stolen funds unless you have someone there that can recover the funds like the police as an example. Since there's not much information you have given then I can only say that you should be careful on what you download and website that you visited as you might be a victim of malware that infected your PC or got phished by a phishing sites that looks like the original or legit websites that you visited. In my opinion, it's not bad or good for you to lost that amount as others have lost millions.

"All of the newbie hackers are targeting Windows" doesn't mean pros aren't targeting Windows as well. The fact that they could just make use of scripts, tools & templates easily as a newbie is what he's referring to (I guess). Okay, I won't speak for him , but that's my point anyway. It's increasing these days because it's quite easy to get the tools without having to build one, so definitely newbies can easily flex their muscles without doing too much work. It can be either of the two. Who doesn't love to be relieved of stress? But newbies take the larger percentage while the pros make more money by selling the tools they've built. They can make more money by disguising malware as a free tool to noobs aswell .
