According to the post on X you shared, it said the user mistakenly "deleted" his seedphrase.
Meaning, he stored it in a digital form, which is not even the best way to store the seed phrase. Also, it is because of mistakes like this and others, such as fire outbreaks, earthquakes, flooding, etc, that people are advised to have multiple backups in case they lose their device or seed phrase, they can always retrieve it from another location.
So, in a nutshell, crypto is not a bad design. There are information available that can help one better protect and keep his/her assets safe. But, sadly, some persons will always be stupid.
Stupid people often have to learn the hard way and although I feel sorry for the man in this post who lost his seed phrase, but I don't think keeping a screenshot of it is even a good idea.
The device in whole could be stolen or lost and there goes all the coins, phishing attacks could get hold of the information and steal the funds also.
I have always not fancied having a wallet on my device with coins in it, that's why I am trying to get a hardware wallet for my convenience and security before investing.
It's a good story to learn from as a newbie, but one question that has always puzzled my mind is if it's possible to recover ones coins in a wallet on their device after deleting it, despite still being in possession of the seed phrase?
