Phoenix Wallet for mobile has the best UX, it's a Lightning wallet that also supports splicing for on chain payments. Wasabi Wallet for desktop has the best privacy, it supports coinjoin, payjoin, and silent payments. Both are open source - https://github.com/ACINQ/phoenix | https://github.com/WalletWasabi/WalletWasabi

You always being on your phone does not matter in this case. It would have made sense if you said you spend BTC every day or very often, then you'd need a mobile online wallet and keep only a small amount that you need for spending on the go. Take note that anything online is prone to hacking, so you don't want all your BTC in your internet connected device. Asides that, your funds should be in cold storage. Which is either an airgapped wallet or a hardware wallet.

It really depends on what you actually need. If you’re focused solely on Bitcoin only wallet that has the simple interface, is user‑friendly, and doesn't compromise your privacy you might consider the open source Envoy from Foundation. In my view, the best option for you to try a few of wallets suggested in this thread and choose the one that feels right for you among all the candidates.

In addition to the above options, you can also try " Nunchuck [not user-friendly, but it has good features]" and " Stack Duo [they support more cryptocurrencies on their Stack Wallet app]". Note: You can create decoy wallets on both, but I still wouldn't recommend using their main wallets for storing large amounts!

Desktop wallets like Electrum and Sparrow of are better, but open source hardware wallets are safest option. Mobile wallets are fine only for pocket money, but you can also connect them with hardware wallets for more protection. If you are just getting started than Electrum wallet is a good option.

Thank you for the recommendations. Was also doing my own research and stumbled upon this open-source wallet, https://github.com/gemwalletcom/Also supports other crypto. Has anyone tried this yet?

Has anyone tried this yet? Are you looking for "the best" wallet, or are you here to advertise an unknown wallet? FWIW, it's not exactly unknown wallet considering total download and star on github. It also pass all basic tests on wallet scrutiny[1], although they haven't verify the reproducibility. [1] https://walletscrutiny.com/android/com.gemwallet.android/

You might want to consider one more option, which is Leather wallet. I came across it a few days ago, and it might fit your needs since it’s open‑source and available for both Android and iOS. It also has a nice feature that allows decentralized swaps directly within wallet, which could be handy for everyday use on the go.

In addition to being open source, the wallet supports many features, over 100,000 downloads and a wide range of altcoins (iOS and Android). I'm surprised it hasn't been discussed here.

I'm just surprised why it wasn't discussed here (which might be a negative sign).

I haven't, but I did watch a bunch of YouTube videos, and it appears to be missing a lot of good features [e.g., coin control, custom fees, decoy wallets, signing & verifying messages, CPFP, RBF, passphrase, etc.]. Is it safe?
For large amounts? Probably not that safe and that's without factoring in the security of your device, since that could also negatively contribute to the situation! - FWIW, the same thing applies to almost all other mobile wallets on active phones.
