Hipocrisy in Nigeria Politics: Am Open Secret

Nigeria political arena is one of the world showy stages  during every election cycle, candidate arrive dressed in robes of integrity, waving banners of anti corruption, transparency. Once vote are conducted, volunteer and the emerge as winners those robes are folded and are replaced with  the familiar atire of self interest, selective outrage and  double standards. An open secrets every sees many whisper, angry tweet online, and hope few expect to change.

This is not a new performance in Nigeria politics, it is a default settings which needs to be reset.  Most time in Nigeria you see oppositions criticizing the the decision of the government chaired by opposition party. Politician preach what they rarely practice. Making promises  they cannot keep in campaign ground.

The open secrets remain  because very few people have an incentive to close it. Real reform require leader to live by the standards they  demand from others  genuine accountability and putting national interest above personal survival.

Until that hat happens hipocrisy will remain one of Nigeria most political ideology, where one preach against other political  ideas but widely practice same thing they once oppose and most times is widely accepted by the masses and quietly practice.

Political hypocrisy has being one of the major problems in Nigeria politics from time immemorial where it's when elections are by the corners you see politicians who are vying for one position or the other will come out and appear like a saint and you see them in the streets selling akara with a poor woman, you will see them visiting orphanage homes and donating cash for them just because of their ambition and afterwards you see them no more till another election period.

Talking about accountability, no Nigerian politician has ever been held accountable after leaving office or gave account of stewardship before leaving all they do when in active service is embezzle funds for themselves and forget about the promises they made on their campaigns. They are only concerned with their well-being and forget the Masses and the citizens they swore an oath to protect and serve, once a politician was with another party and he defects to the ruling one he becomes a saint and his sins are washed away no matter the atrocities they might have committed while in other other party. The day Nigerians begins to hold politicians to give account of stewardship after service is the day we will get better.
