What have you achieved through gambling?

Tbh, I still haven’t had any great achievements in gambling too. Hitting the jackpot isn’t an easy thing. Not getting dragged into something bad just because I gamble already makes me grateful cause many people I saw doing bad things when they lose and I’m still able to enjoy it. If someone has experienced negative consequences because of gambling, it’s better for them to re-assess their gambling habits. I think not achieving anything big in gambling is fine, since not everyone is lucky enough to win big, Instead, any win should be appreciated.

The small chance of getting a lot of money can't be the reason why people gamble. While it's a possibility, it is not really something to handle for that long because it is not going to happen to a million people and only to a single person so why would you consider that as a reason.

The main reason should be fun, because gambling is fun and as long as we have fun that is more than enough. I think it's clear that many people make mistakes in this regard and for that reason it is not easy to make them do something else, but as long as we can handle this well enough, it's a good thing.

Abi oo, gambling is just like entertainment and not anything really serious..  And one of the reason is because the emotional side is real, even just small win can make someone happy and a small loss can still make someone sad.. so that alone shows it is not something stable enough to be depending on..

For me I don’t see gambling as a source of income at all..  If someone chooses to do it, it should be with an amount they are completely okay losing, like just paying for fun..

I think the same thing is experienced by many other gamblers, besides just small wins for a while, they only get entertainment. Funny enough, i have learned a lot about myself and human nature in general. I am fascinated what kind of delusions it brings in people and how smart and educated people lose clear thinking when there's big enough incentive for them. No matter how statistically impossible it is to reach.

I've also learned self-control and budgeting, which i am proud of, even though it should be something everyone handled anyway. I didn't before, and it took quite few blows for me to get importance of not improvising with money.

I see what you are saying,  and I actually think that is a very healthy mindset and I know that most gamblers don't have that kind of mindset.  If someone considers gambling as entertainment,  it may actually lower the pressure and decrease the chance of developing unrealistic expectations.

But I think it is still important to be honest with ourselves, even if we are saying we are gambling just for fun,  the money we are spending is still very real. Losing amounts of money, even if they are small,  when you are consistent that means you are losing a significant amount of money in the long run.  I think that is why we should try and reflect and ask what we are getting from it, once in a while.

I don't expect gambling to make any significant changes in my life or bring some massive achievement.  If I win something reasonable,  even if it's small, and I can actually use it to make a meaningful purchase or to do something nice for my family that alone is enough for me,  things usually get out of control when gambling that is meant to be  "just for fun"  turns into someone trying to get back the money they lost.

You are right. We should not learn from gambling or take it too seriously. Gambling should be done for entertainment. If someone gambles regularly, it will affect his life. No matter how much we try to stay away from its effects, it will still happen. If we do anything regularly, it becomes part of our daily routine. As a result, we cannot intentionally avoid it.

You're in luck if ever you always recover what you've lost and that's an automatic thing. Because with my losses, it's hard to recover them usually and it takes time. Okay yeah, it could be a job for those working in the Casino or sportsbook and for the CEOs or developers that ensures the casino stays functional but, not so much the gamblers themselves.
