We all have different expectations when it comes to gambling but the problem is we don't really set those expectations strictly. Yes, I have experienced this before and not just once but many times. I also had this concern. I used to think that I would control myself especially when I get a big win but it seems that after getting a big win the interest does not stop but rather I keep pushing myself to bet more. It is not normalization, but in fact this happens very often in gambling. Gamblers call it greed. Often this pattern will lead to huge losses or even total losses. Almost every person has this problem. The biggest reason for this problem is not being able to control themselves and greed. When a person is able to control himself, if he is able to reach his goal, then he can quit gambling. But the one who is not able to control himself keeps playing more and in the end he faces losses.
