But now, based on what I’m seeing and searching, it looks like we don’t see it as much as before. Many casinos don’t use it anymore. From what I read, this is because of regulatory pressure. So my question is, what license replaced Curacao now? What license do casinos prefer today because it’s easier to get and less strict?

Licence is just a way for the casinos to tell their customers that they are in safe hands, but they can still go ahead and do whatever they (the casino) want. I also want to ask if there are means to verify a licence online without having to pass through the process of contacting the licensing authority to see if a licence code is real or fake.

The shady there is one reason if Curacao license is now becoming more strict they will head for more cheaper licencing, of course I agree with you that they are generally expensive but not as expensive as Curacao license would be.

you know in everything when a business has already secured a very high level of confidence or market strengths whether they are the best or not people then to head for them and maybe classify anyone which is not the popular one a counterfeit so other companies exist but Curacao is more reliable.

Nothing has replaced Curacao yet. It remains as the topmost destination for online casinos to obtain their licenses.

As a matter of fact, all members commenting before me on this thread are wearing signatures of casinos and betting sites that are registered in Curacao. Rollbit, Stake, and 2up.io are all gambling sites operated by companies registered in Curacao.

All these talks of tighter rules in Curacao have been around for years. Perhaps it has indeed gone stricter but still much looser than other jurisdictions. Or perhaps that's precisely what makes a Curacao license the most sought after. Rules are one thing, implementation is another.

As far as i know Curacao is still most used by casino. It has not yet replaced by other license, but there is also a license called Anjouan license, which was fully mirroring from Curacao. It's also getting huge demand as big as curacao. Beside that the change of license used by casino means nothing to the users. It's because majority of users only thing a license casino = legitimate casino.

However, the thing that makes it different is how hard the way to obtain the license. In example, acquiring DGOJ in spain, UKGC in UK, or gambling license in US is far harder and stricter. So it gives us more protection whenever casino do shady to us compared to the license that easy to obtain.

Yeah I think I did. Curacao used to be the go to license because it was cheap and easy, but the recent reforms made it stricter and more structured, so some smaller operators moved away. Now we’re seeing more casinos either upgrading to licenses like Anjouan or Costa Rica, while bigger brands aim for Malta or UKGC for credibility. I think the change is good in the long run for players, but there will always be operators looking for the easiest route instead of the most trustworthy one.

I mean, if I were the business owner, I would follow the instructions of the current license provider I hold and comply with them. I don't want to make things more complicated than it is.

I don't think any license replaced Curaçao license, as a matter of fact, I still see this license logo in the footing of some casino though I agree with you that it's no longer as common as it used to be before.

The reason why many casinos are shifting from using Curaçao license is what me myself don't know but I think the reason you gave is understandable if actually it's the truth.
And speaking of how this license have helped gamblers, I honestly do not see how this license have helped gamblers but rather, it's helped the casino owners very much since Curaçao license was the cheapest and the easiest to get back in the day, I don't know about now like I said before.

I said this license have not helped gambler in any way because casinos with this license some times turned into a scam and they run away with funds belonging to their users, and there is no way to catch the scammers through their license registration information.

One thing is for sure, though, regardless of where the new casinos get their license (Curacao or not), if there are still no strict laws and punishments for these operators who end up being scammers, players/gamblers will continue to suffer. So, no, a shift in where they get their license means nothing.

Yea we definitely need to see some laws in favor of the gambler and some protection of our money. It's ridiculous how wild west the crypto space still is after what 17 years now? Slowly starting to see some regulation happen but still no protection at this point.

I do not see this to change in years to come. See cryptocurrencies exchanges as an example that regulators are going mostly after, the well known ones are the one following the rules, but there are many more exchanges that have license which are no KYC. If countries are not calling on countries of such significantly no strict licenses, there is nothing that can change. The regulators are also not fully capable, they are only going for big companies.

Yeah this is what happening on early days, especially when regulation start to happen and Curacao license has became a convenient license which can easily get by the casinos. Before it add weight if they got this because many people will see it as good proof that they are legitimate casinos.

But now it doesn't mean anything, since those convenience also destroy its reputation. People realize that license actually does not add anything because the casino obtain that license still became a shady or scam and those regulators didn't do anything with those scam cases.

Still, many casinos use a Curacao license, which is the leader in crypto casinos but definitely, there are other players on the market too. Costa Rica license became very popular recently and I think that's because crypto users prefer an anonymous casino experience and Costa Rica license is the best license for maximally KYC-free experience. I've also noticeda few other licenses but only 1-2 casinos have those, the majority use Curacao and then comes Costa Rica.

I don't know if it has been replaced by another entity, but perhaps they might have overhauled everything. And there could be some competitions or there are alternatives besides the Curacao license like:

1. Malta
2. Isle of Man Gambling Supervision
3. Gibraltar Regulatory Authority

And we all know that Curacao license is easy to get as compare to the 3 mentioned above. And maybe crypto based casinos are moving to them because they are more strict and probably we gamblers wanted a better licensing entity than Malta.

Probably because many people don’t even bother to complain, or they don’t want others to know they’re gambling. And since we’re in crypto, we’re supposed to be anonymous, right? But now it feels like it’s slowly becoming just like the fiat system, full of regulations. So in the end, there’s not much difference anymore, except for the mode of payment.

That’s the sad reality of the crypto space right now. It feels like it’s being invaded by corrupt governments, and little by little, the freedom that people came here for is disappearing.
