He lay there. The young lad was trying to escape from all the things that happened to him (his cousin and dad died). I think he was trying to double the money he had saved over the years.
When a workaholic decides to stop working due to any challenge, the first thing he does is to appreciate the money he has gathered over the years. Betting was this guy's option, so he should be responsible for it.

I don't understand why people, after learning about gambling and the fact that they can lose everything, still gamble with all their money.
In this guy's case, I don't think he learned anything at all, he has never gambled before but just got to hear about stake for the first time and he started gambling. From his story, his reason for gambling was not even because he wanted to make money and he was not even addicted, he wanted to get out off his depression but like you said, he made the wrong decision to have chosen gambling as the only means of getting over his depression. What surprised me in the whole situation is that, when he first lost $20k he did not stop and he lost $50k, yet he did not stop... I don't know what to call such person.

I don't understand why people, after learning about gambling and the fact that they can lose everything, still gamble with all their money.
He has not seriously learned anything from gambling because he if he does, I don’t think he will be ready to make such silly mistakes by wasting a whole lot of money on gambling without getting anything from it in returns. If you want to gamble, gamble for the fun of it and not to take it as any form of antidepressant because it is never going to serve as one. I know that there is nothing that gambling does not cause to someone so it is not something someone should engage in when they feel like they want to work on their existing depression state. But if you are looking at a way to relieve yourself from any form of pain, adding or compounding such pain with another hurtful decision is only going to cause you more and more pains and suffering like it is for the case of this young lad.

People make mistakes when they don't know what they're doing. When a person is depressed, they become too weak to think properly. And the same thing happened with this gambler, this person also started gambling because he was depressed. And in that situation when he started gambling and then he started losing and didn't stop even after losing $50k until he lost all his money. It's a terrible experience, others have a lot to learn from watching this gambler's situation. A gambler must see how much control he can maintain over himself before he starts gambling, otherwise he will quickly find himself in a bad situation.

Just read this, and found it to be relevant for this sub: 175k+ lost gambling, no friends, dad is deadTl; dr: Guy saved money by working >> tragedies happened (dad, cousin died) >> found a gambling site >> tried to escape the trauma by gambling and lost everything. Regret. gambling is not necessary at this stage. the guy should have just look for another alternative to escape the trauma of dad and cousin death, instead of gambling. losing his savings may even worsting the situation because the little saving he had would have been used to sustain himself has been used for gambling and its lost.

He is still at his early 30s. According to how I read it, he is still 30 years old if the post was made on reddit 4 days ago. He still has life, that means he still has hope. He should not be remorseful of what happened, he should not hurt his feelings with the bad past, he should focus on the future and expect a better tomorrow and be social.
It's easier said than done, obviously he is still at his early stage but even at that the experience he had is indeed a very bad one but he shouldn't have make impulsive decision because he still have a very long way to go and just like you said that so Long as there's life there's hope so he should've remember this saying before thinking otherwise. These are the disadvantages of betting with a huge amount of money or an amount that we can't afford because when you loss it you will feel that's just the end of the world because the possiblity of getting back the money is not there.

First, it is not all news that's worth being added to the news magazine, and if it is something that is worth being added to the news magazine, but the people or family involved choose not to have the information on magazine, there's nothing the magazine company can do about it, and this could be the situation of what the OP provided. I added newspaper thing in titie randomly. It's not that deep. Ok. To some of us reading the content provided by the gambler that experienced the lost it is not something deep but to the person that experienced the lost it is some deep and it is enough to serve as a lesson to others gamblers that we should always consider the risk and the chance of winning the game with the inclusion of the house been highly favored for every game before considering gambling as an escape from financial problem when it was designed as a game of chance.

It's truly a huge loss, but I think there's a psychological reason behind gambling. Maybe severe depression. Why would someone who has worked so hard for years to save money want to lose their life savings gambling? All of this happened outside of rational thinking, and as a result of the deep psychological breakdown caused by the losses, all of their savings literally vanished into thin air. It's never too late to get back on your feet, but you need proper rehabilitation. Although it's difficult to go through all this and return to your old life, life goes on, and we don't know what lies ahead.

Dude is still young, and yet he is already thinking that way. He can still do so much in his life, and if he gets older, it doesn't mean the end of the world, especially for men. There are a lot of men now who will suddenly find their partner at an old age, and they live a happy life after that. I think what he just needs is a partner to take care of him and tell him that everything will be alright.
It's truly a sad story, but I think the real problem is him not moved on with the mistakes and the heartaches that he experienced. He might need help from a specialist about depression, and I think going back to work will help him cope with those problems by keeping his mind busy. Forget the losses that he gambled. They will never go back, and I think what he needs is closure to all those experiences and probably a fresh start.

This is deep! Life can treat people so unfairly and make them very unstable and in a very unstable note, people cannot be said to take the best of decisions. This is not an ordinary case of gambling addiction but a case of trying to escape life's challenges with gambling which is a situational error. Dude is still 30 which means he is still very young and strong to start afresh, but he needs to socialize a bit more to have few real friends and should get a new hobby as a fallback plan to replace gambling else he's possibly going back soon as the reality of a fresh start hits him hard.
The person who introduced him to gambling as a solution to his predicament did him a great disservice, that was the worst therapy to be introduced, it is good he's excluded and is working on his gambling addictions, he needs to leave the house and get a new life void of that kind of friend that led him into gambling in the first place.

Totally agree with that rehabilitation suggestion there, because it is clearly understandable that the person involved in the incident is not mentally OK, not that he is mad and needs a psychiatrist or something but his way of thinking needs to be immediately readjusted, I bet if this person should be allowed to continue living the way he is living, the next thing we are going to be reading about him is that he has committed suicide.. I don't understand how a person will claim to he lonely in a world where there are more than 7 billion people all over, it's understood his loved ones are gone but so long as he is still alive, he can raise another loved once again, no body came into this world to live for another person and it's absolute foolishness to destroy your life simply because those who once loved are no more.

The above story teaches us that gambling does not bring anything good to a person, but rather it slowly ends his life like smoking.
You people hate gambling so much but see no problem wearing a casino signature and getting paid for advertising their casino. What that teaches me about you lot is that you don’t mind where your paycheck comes from. I wonder where your moral compass is coming from. It's unfortunate to see that some people are calling gambling bad names for something that they are not forcing you to go extra mile. Gambling doesn't have any problem, rather gamblers are the ones making it to look that way because there are gamblers that are making money from gambling and they are gambling happily without any issue. However, it is only when you are not in fun side that gambling would bring disaster, apart from that there's nothing wrong in gambling so we should try and play safe and stop blaming the game.

Regret. I sincerely feel sorry for the guy, losing loved ones is a huge tragedy! But gambling is not a mechanism for alleviating pain and suffering. If a person is religious, it is better to talk to religious mentors. If not, talk to relatives or close friends. Some people find it helpful to be alone to process what has happened. But trying to numb the pain with gambling, alcohol, or drugs is a sure way to complicate the situation.

It’s just the way it is. I can’t count the amount of topics in this board that are about gambling addiction, losses, and all the downsides to gambling. The gambling board should probably have an anti-gambling sub board so these topics can be posted there.

Read his story, it's quite shocking how he has not socialized in 10 years and the tragedies that have happened to him. But that is natural, he has no control over it, nor can he bring back his past. One thing he can do is start again. Now he has more experience than when he started working. He can identify the issues within himself and embark on a new journey, set a new goal, and maybe, in that journey, he will meet some people who will brighten his days and perhaps his life. Life is unplanned, and we can't control it, but we can make efforts and try to shape it on our own terms.

It requires the extraordinary psychological power to stand up after a long time of solitude and proves that he is a bold person. Although nobody can bring back the past, the issue of understanding personal weaknesses is one of the most important resources towards the future. We need to trust that each new experience can bring a ray of light which will alter our path on the way to the more significant. Attempting to live together in a true manner is the most appropriate approach that will enable us to discover happiness in the face of any uncertainty.

How will he use gambling as a means of escape of his trauma when he his not stable in mind , definitely he will lose everything to gambling because he was not settled but needs money, I don't see him as trying to look for a place of relaxation, because when we talk of losing persons, it takes the mind some times to really accept the reality of life that has just befallen you and adjust, at that period when you gamble, you are definitely going to lose.
Gambling helps a stable mind to be free from stress and we'll relaxed if stressed out.

Just read this, and found it to be relevant for this sub: 175k+ lost gambling, no friends, dad is deadTl; dr: Guy saved money by working >> tragedies happened (dad, cousin died) >> found a gambling site >> tried to escape the trauma by gambling and lost everything. Regret. Ya bro, this is really sad but also like a to the tee gambling version of FAFO. Or FAGFO...... the FAG part is unfortunate but it is supposed to read Fuck Around Gambling And Find Out as opposed to the classic Fuck Around And Find Out. I just think that FAGFO really works here for this and that we ought to think about the coincidence here. Losing a ton of money gambling is also super GAYYYYYY hahahhahaha jk jk jk. I know a lot of people would probably take serious offense to these comments and I am sorry, i'm just really immature and there are fr hella FAGFOs out there.

Such stories are really heart breaking and they help us realize that gambling may be very risky when it is used as a means of forgetting about the pain. The death of a father and other close relatives in the family is already an emotional shock and resorting to gambling as a coping mechanism did not help him at all. It is not only about the loss of $200k but rather the trauma, loneliness and regrets afterwards. I do not entirely agree that he is simply left with no choice but to take his destiny. He has alternatives: to pursue emotional support, get counseling, to be rebuilt a bit at a time, avoid gambling altogether. It will not be easy to recover, though. Most individuals have restored their lives following bad circumstances. He now needs not blame, but advice and encouragement.
