I have been trying to get my head around this. The abuse and the risk it poses is massive. Impersonation is easier, people would easily fall for scams now. And if the essence of allowing such public access is so we can question everything then it's working. I barely know what's real anymore. I have seen Ai so clean that it falls under the side of scary. I understand many fight for equality ands freedom but I think letting the public have access to such is risky especially in the case of images and videos.

Well, it's unfortunate that there is nothing that can be done to censor it's usage.
The AI companies wants to make money, and whatever their consumers choses to use it for doesn't seem to be their major concern whether good or bad. The truth is, AI is killing the concept of originality, and a lot of people aren't even admitting it. Lately, platforms like YouTube, has become so irritating because of the too many AI contents(videos). It seems to be very advantageous to the person who is making money from it, but no one is talking about how it's killing the idea of originality.

Impersonation, Defamation and cases or fraud, are literally big issues on their own that are related to this use of AI. Well, it is what it is. People with negative intensions in our society, are definitely going to use any tools in their possession for negative things, no matter what the tool was meant to represent.

You are concerned about the risk of the public having access to artificial intelligence technology; however, consider what the world would look like if only large companies and the government had access to such technologies, and based on their history would they use these technologies for the benefit of others?

In todays world, there is a sense that people dont know whats real anymore, and tools like Photoshop have existed for decades and social media has always had a curated and altered reality; so AI just scaled the problem a bit.  Its true that scammers may now have a slightly easier job, but the "risk" isnt the AI, its the lack of digital literacy in the general population.

AI is what the controllers are using to manipulate the indoctrination of people they couldn't properly reach through the school system. It's their tool. It is regulated to do what it is doing.

They were flawed so we could still tell the difference and it was usually limited to photos or stationary objects. Ai has gotten to an insane level and it's still growing.

Would the public having access to it make them change? No it barely changes anything. Just looks like a spread in power that doesn't look optimistic in my opinion.

I'm starting to think this way. Even the epstein file some videos went around and images and many couldn't tell what was real or fake anymore. Cctv might even get a murder case and the lawyer may say it's Ai.

What is your suggestion to go about doing that?

The issue is that any approach to restrict the use of AI (even only in images and videos) will be short-lived and the platforms know that, people will want to use AI(mostly for fun) these days, and if your platform somehow manages to detect AI content and ban or suspend accounts based on that there's just a very good chance people will switch to another platform that allows AI usage.

The thing you realistically can expect from platforms is for them to have a certain note/flag under every single image and video generated/modified using AI, I assume that AI should have at least >%95 detection accuracy rate on whether a content is AI generated or not, so that should solve most of the problems regarding misuse of AI rather easily.

Twitter(x) is full of AI generated content these days, both in the main tweets and the replies under it, and what I have seen more often than not was whenever questionable content was posted there was someone tagging Grok in the replies asking whether the content is original/unedited and Grok has really good accuracy there, so most other well funded platforms should be able to do the same.

The rate at which the AI videos are growing is absolutely getting out of hand and sometimes I even wonder what the future will hold when the whole thing have turned upside down because it's not far anymore that people won't be able to identify authenticity from AI manipulation
