Is Amory compatible with Bitcoin Core 30.2?

It's been awhile since I've synced my wallet (2021).
I'm on Bitcoin Core 17.1 and loading for the last week. The old computer is Windows 7

One of the gift wallets I gave in 2014 wants to cash some and learn to use it.

Can I transact with 17.1 once synced?
He will likely use Kraken and then a lite wallet.

Any advice for sites he may find interesting?

I used to have Bitcoin Wisdom running all the time but now JM Bullion tracks the things I pay attention to since Ounce.me is no more
CoinMarketCap.com and CoinDesk still seem to be functioning but are those sites going to be useful for a "new" user?

No, at least for version 0.95.5 or lower.

Also please note that 0.96.5 cannot talk to Core RPC starting 0.28.x

I don't use Armory, but i have 2 warning.
1. Windows 7 last updated on 2020. So there may be security issue.
2. Since 2021, Bitcoin blockchain grows a lot (especially UTXO/chainstate size). So sync time may take very long if you use HDD to store blockchain data and you don't allocate much RAM for Bitcoin Core.

Any advice for sites he may find interesting?

I just checked CoinMarketCap and CoinDesk, but i unable to find beginner/newbie section. I'm sure CoinDesk used to provide that in past. My personal recommendation is part of Beginners section on https://learnmeabitcoin.com/.

Armory is v.96.5 and shows the restored paper wallet as available to spend (but I've gotten hung up in those types of transactions before).

You have to disable pruning and blockxor for Armory to be able to read the chain data on disk.
