It is sad because they will be discontinuing cheaper models to sell more expensive ones, like ledger did..
I dont have a trezor one or T, but I was expecting to buy one of them if my ledger ever breaks. Looks like those trezor models wont break either, and there wasn't a real good reason to discontinue them... just to sell something more fancy and expensive
Let's compare it with the Ledger Nano S, launched in 2016, as soon as the Nano S Plus was launched, it didn't take many months to them to announce the end of its production and support, it ended in 2024.
The Trezor One, which is the oldest hardware wallet, is still supported to this day, even though it has stopped manufacturing and selling on the official Trezor website. Even so, they will extend support until mid-2031 and critical security fixes, if any, until 2026, users will have plenty of time to upgrade to a newer model in production.
There is a gulf of difference between the two companies.
I still use my Trezor model T, it's super functional and has never let me die on the beach. For now I won't upgrade to a newer model, as this one is serving me very well.
BTW, I'm curious to know if other users are also experiencing issues installing the latest firmware on any of these discontinued devices?
- Mine says complete, but as soon as it restarts, it shows the penultimate version instead!
I believe you are referring to Trezor devices, I always updated my Trezor Model T and it never had this error of showing the previous version even after updating.
