I have to create this thread because of how my parents often react whenever I surprise them with gifts, whenever I get something for my mom, she appreciates it no matter how small or big it's, most times my dad feels his entitled to whatever I do for him, this made me understand that mothers appreciate more than fathers, I have come to realize that most parents also act differently due to their personality, not all shows there expression of gratitude it may be as a result of pride or something else, I just want to know if I'm the only one who have notice this, share your thoughts.

not all fathers are the same. neither are all mothers.
some fathers can’t just express their emotions well. i’m not excusing them but i am just explaining that some men are like that. but not all mothers are appreciative also. some are very toxic and hate their children. we all have very different situations and you are lucky you at least have your mother that is appreciative.

Fathers are also happy but they don't express it outside. Especially women are very emotional. They express their happiness and sadness. But men don't express their emotions outside. I gave a gift to my father a few days ago. He didn't say anything much after receiving it. But later he went to his friends and expressed his excitement. We should give more importance to our parents as soon as we start earning and fulfill our responsibilities properly so that they can live a worry-free life.

I think some parents show their emotions in a very different pattern and probably that’s just their personality, it doesn’t necessary need to relate to love. If you take the case of mothers, due to that emotional euphoria they have for their children! They tend to express their inner feeling more like openly being appreciative of their kids, they can display their affections without any apology but fathers are more isolated when it comes to emotions, maybe due to how they were raised as men or just the fact that they reason other important things and the last thing in their mind is being emotionally expressive.

This is not a specific gender behavior because both wife and husband could have this reaction, people are different, when they are the ones that raise you, some would feel they are not supposed to be in any gratitude to you if you presented them a gift knowingly or surprisingly while some will appreciate any little thing you give them even if it cannot buy them a food. If you are giving a gift of any kind do not attached a feeling of getting so much praises because if you consider it and it doesn't happen that they appreciate you, it might discourage you from doing another day, although my parents do appreciate and say good prayers for me in anything I give them.

It all depends on the personality of the person. My mother will always appreciate everything I give to her, no matter how small. They would thank me and pray for me. My dad is also appreciative but not like my mum. He doesn't feel entitled but men don't appreciate gifts like women. Women will shout, dance and hug when they receive gifts. They will even call friends and family to tell them that they got a gift from you. But men will just say thank you and take the gift to their room. Its not pride or ingratitude but their nature.

Be specific, your Dad dont appreciate you better than your mom. It should not be a thing you judge generally. My both parent are very appreciative, they dont feel entitled to anything. Most times, they request I stop doing somethings for them as they feel they are still too young to do those things. I agree that most parents have pride, that they dont want you to keep doing stuff for them when they can do it for themselves. I believe when it gets to the age where they need your help they will willingly accept it.

Mine is the same, they're both grateful to whatever I give them. Even if they're the simplest things, they're so happy that I remember giving them a thing or two. While parents are different, it also depends on the people on how they're raised. If they have come from a family oriented clan, they'd sure love whatever you give them. Because it's not about the expensive gifts but, it's the thought that counts that you have remembered them by giving them whatever you can give.

Is not as if fathers don't appreciate gift that is been given to them by his child but they don't usually show it outside, they like to behave hard to get or let me say man of the house thing and when it comes to the Mothers no matter how little the gift is they do appreciate it.
Okay from what I have witnessed from my parents you see my dad I gifted him, not that he didn't appreciate it but he didn't show it, like he just said to me I saw what you sent thank you and that's it but when I gifted my mum she was all over like it wasn't even that expensive as my dad's own but she was very happy prayed for me. What am trying to say is that every parent has it way of appreciation or appreciating.

Men are not as expressive as women so if your father isn't giving the same reaction as your mothe,r then it is fine, that is how 99% of fathers would react but deep down he will be very happy for whatever the event is about. And often give them surprise gifts is good but you can also talk to them and find what they really need, a father might need some tools for his garage that would make him happiest compared to offering him some flowers.

Your parents would appreciate whatever you give them no matter how small it is. Giving is a display of love and parents are always very happy whenever there's such display from their children. Sometimes children make the mistake of thinking that you must give something very large to your parents for then to be happy but I found out my mum always wants me to gift them no matter how small it is when I was earning very little with the view that when I have more, I can do more. It motivated me to gift them from time to time which made them very happy. I see that it's gives them a sense of pride discussing it with their peers how their children shows them love by gifting them.

Respect to the fathers because they are the real home builders who do not get their flowers because they are always referred to as the head of the family. From your explanation you seem to have a more closer relationship with your mum than your dad that could be the reason why your dad feels you do more in terms of gifting to your mum than him I may not be totally correct but only you can tell if this is the case. Fathers are a blessing to the family if you have the opportunity of seeing them at your age you have to treat your dad same way you treat your mum.

There is a taste of bias in your post which is really salty and someone has to correct it. Your dad feeling entitled to whatever gifts you bring to him doesn't not make it a general culture of Fathers when it comes to appreciation for gifts received from their children. My father appreciates every gift I send to him, same with my mum, together they appreciate it and do tell me that am doing too much for them and that I should focus on my wife and kids the most. May be that your old boy went through hell raising you to who have become today and that makes him feel worthy and deserving of any gift given by you, cause for him it is a pay back for all he had to do for you growing up. Every parents thinks differently.
