Checked up to a user jackg

This forum is ambiguous to know if some users is still active or not..it has been awhile I have not come across of jackg Post/Comment in the forum...

I hope his alright, I'm asking people that is close to him,...why I'm asking these, is because I came across his post and I opened his profile, his last active was on April 13th 2025..I hope is fine or he has retired from forum?

When I knew him, he were kind to the forum members and his absence need questioning, despite that it maybe his wish not to be active...

It happens frequently and countless really impactful members can leave anytime. It just so sadly happens that off forum things could get really pressing you might not even have time to visit for some they get uninterested and bored out as time passes and may gradually get inactive till they disappear.

Well if you have a good relationship with someone here you can partly extend that a little off the forum you never can tell you might even be the reason they stick around longer.

Nice of you to look out for others. People have things irl that may cause them to take a short/long break from the forum. Hopefully, we get to see him online soon.

Jackg is a valuable forum member, so this thread can not be deleted, but Meta is not the right board that it should be posted because it is not about this forum but about one of the reputed users one this forum. So because of this, the right board for it should be the reputation board.

Yeah, I noticed sometime back that he went offline. Perhaps something abrupt happened, or maybe he just decided to move onto a new chapter in life, but without saying goodbye here. We can surely never know unless if there was someone he was so close to and always kept in touch with them on and off forum.

Hey GeorgeJohn! There is something I would want you to understand about the forum..
Here many people may not find interest to continue to be surfing around here, or even joining discussion as we do. There are people who seek for a better place, like a good Job that could take care of their needs or even haven to become a mulit-millionaire with their previous holding on Bitcoin and when the price shoot so higher they could decide to empty it and use the money for something more productive in their life. We see good people here, we also see good people leaving the community, this could be due to one illness or another.

Most people values their family which they can't give up to them instead, they could rather leave every other thing just to spend quality time with them as family is everything one has on earth before they depart from the face of the world. Maybe the user you are thinking of has decided to take his paths, so we can't keep taking records of everyone especially when they are not really contributing to the community positively or technically. Please do not get it twisted; it's actually good to check on someone only if you have direct contact to that person or you knew someone who has direct contact to the person and possibly you guys are From same local community then the communication could be that easier for them.

Most users prefer to show up and interact, then crawl back into their solitude space.They wouldn't break that pseudonymity for any reason. On top of that, prerequisites for a good relationship off this forum is just too demanding for the most part.  

Then again, this is a fresh discovery-- I hate to read that our top contributors in the Dev and tech board are slowly disappearing into thin air, but what's more disturbing is how people have learnt move on too quickly/ get used to the them leaving without a notice! Anyone checked up on him yet?

So many people come and go on this forum it's impossible to keep track and honestly unless you had a personal relationship with a user, it's likely you will never know why they left. Users value their privacy, health issues arise, deaths happen, or they might in general just decide they have gotten everything they needed from this forum and decide it's time to fade away. If they wanted us to know about some of these things that could happen, they would have told us, minus dying of course.

GJ, if you want to know his way about, the first thing should be to Pm him. If his email address is still active, he might receive a notification.

Yes, I almost forgot @jackg, he is a friendly and wise person, I used to communicate with him often.

But I didn't realize that his last visit to the forum was 2025 and his last post was 2023.
I hope @jackg is okay wherever he is.

Well, your testimony is correct and it is evidenced in his trust feedback. Even Vod acknowledged his humility and respect.
Without saying much, if I assume he is your role model, I might not be wrong.

Truly, the forum has produced such great personalities in the past and it now seems that the best days of the forum are gone.

It seems possible to compile a list of people who left the forum but never warned everyone about what happened to them and the reason for their absence from the forum. OP, may I ask, if you don't know what happened to this person, what would you like to know to satisfy your curiosity? Bad news? I'm not sure that everyone needs it. Therefore, let's assume that the lack of news is still good news. All the forum members want to know about the people they were interested in is that these people are doing well in their lives, aren't they? Think that he is alive and everything is fine with him, and the forum is not the place, not the social network where someone tells every time what happens to him.

jackg was a kind person and he comments on a thread he feels to comment..You are suppose to meet his comments, maybes you weren't paying attention...

Yeah, but is not active since last year, even though he receives email notifications, if he doesn't wants to come online,  my pm might not trigger he to come online because we weren't familiar via interaction in the forum...

It's difficult to get such data from people who left the forum..before making such compilation, you most have a mutual relationship to the people that left...while jackg absence is noticeable to me, it's because he were a reputable user for the forum...

OP, may I ask, if you don't know what happened to this person, what would you like to know to satisfy your curiosity? Bad news?

Not bad news" at least we need to ask for the absence of a good user...if you're not active for two [2] days in the forum....many people will be curious to know you way about..You have a positive impact for the forum, that's why people will be feeling your absence...

I often wonder about members I looked up to or had positive interactions with and why they’re no longer here.

After many years, I guess he decided to move on and we must accept it. As much as we might want to know the reasons for somebody’s absence, they don’t owe anybody an explanation.

In some cases we might receive updates from people who had contact with members outside of the forum, but most of the time it’s situations like this, where they are suddenly no longer around.

With his last post being well over a year since he last logged on I would put it more in they stopped posting for some reason and then after a while just stopped checking.
Could be a real life thing happened or could be they just moved on.

I have a couple of forums / boards that I have left over the years. Nothing bad, just other things to due & other places to discuss things online.

That's usually how it goes.  There is one forum I joined over 25 years ago, and I used to be very active on but haven't posted there in over 5 years.  Every once in a while I log on just to see what's new or to check the market place board.  I don't recognize any of the current regulars, and the folks I do recognize are behaving very similarly to me.  People's interests change and they move on.

I hope jackg is well, and enjoying his life.  He was one of the more active users when I first joined and had a very down to earth perspective on things.  I always enjoyed reading his posts.

I remember this user mostly from his contributions in the Economics section. If i remember correctly, he was active in that board and made good inputs through his threads and posts. I also noticed when he stopped posting, but i am not one to meddle in other people's business, you may never know if they just wanted to leave quietly and then you spoil the "party".

That said, i am pretty sure if he had a close relationship with any user here, he would have told them his reason for leaving, or at least that he was leaving. But they'd definitely not post about it here without jackg's consent.

Maybe his set in the forum that have good relationship with him have also left the forum unaware to forum users....Their's one [1] thing i noticed in this forum, people have good relationships in the forum depending the year different they registered in the forum....Secondly, they also relate due to a particular board they post often..you can easily bond with someone in forum due to were you post frequently...

Maybe he has no close relationship with a forum user that he will share his secrets to...You know coming to forum, is a personal determination, so when leaving the forum, it will also be a personal determination...The only people whom I feel that can your away about in the forum....Are people who comes from the same local board...Your local board people are the first to know if you're active or not, mostly for the users who are active in their local boards....
