If you look at these numbers, do you naturally notice these calculations?

It was pretty much allowed on the previous thread, in case people didn't notice their own records and would like to see it. Those who submit records shouldn't ask/expect any merit for it though. Maybe the rules should also be stated here just to be clear.

Seriously, after posting a screenshot and collecting a merit or two will they even bother either looking at it again or even bookmarking it for nostalgia sake?

If bullrun2024bro stated he was not updating his thread and wanted someone reputable to create another, why on earth was this not self-moderated? That alone would have been enough to convince many account farmers to not bother taking screenshots and upload images in the hope of a merit or two.

Also, if there was a clear clause stating members were only allowed to save their own merits screenshots rather than others members, that too would reduce the number of posts here and stop a lot of the spamming and/or unnecessary posts.

I MENTIONED  more than once self moderation is not allowed in meta.

And I have halted merits as of yesterday.

Remember a person posting a good merit total is actually making a real contribution to the website.

It is actually is work to do so.

Negative anger at merit is something we all know will always happen on Bitcointalk .


Maybe you could make a thread asking for me to have modding on this thread as an exception to meta rules. That would be a positive action.

Maybe I will open a set of  threads about the good and the bad about merits like I did about bitcoin.

I disagree, any member posting a good merit total is not making a real contribution to the forum. And, I think you are exaggerating as there is nothing in my post to do with haters and/or hating.

Furthermore, creating the thread in the Reputation board would have solved the inevitable spamming issue by being self-moderated. Having said that, if this gives you joy then I am happy for you.

That's a genuine question, the thread title name shows that "save your nice merit records here" and that means someone should save their nice merits records.

But sometimes a member miss his/her nice merits and that's the reason why others find those merits and capture a screenshot of the merits to save a nice merit record.

They then share the screenshot here and mention the member who has achieved that nice merit record, it can make a member happy who has achieved a good merit record and was captured at right time by someone and shared via this thread.

We should either be okay with the name of the thread or OP might change the title of the thread by making it "Save nice merit records here" as that will be a better title for the thread.

I think the title is fine. OP has already mentioned this earlier in the thread, and to be fair the members were posting the merit records of others in the other thread as well so it’s not new. What I find strange is people going through the trouble of making a casual merit number special, like adding the merit, post count and activity to make it seem “special”. It was cool when it was a one time thing but it could turn into something else if it’s encouraged.

which is why i ended the merits.

btw any one can look at the threads to see those posting often and decide if they are merit farmers

much like the other threads I did in economics. So a  perfect way to discover merit farmers is now shut down.
