Guys, I have a Trezor Safe 3 and have been using it for BTC, but I'm going to start using it with other networks, mainly ETH and SOL
I have a simple question, but I'd rather ask first and be sure

If my Trezor fails and I need to recover my EVM or Solana wallet, and I don't want to buy another Trezor or need to access my wallet in the time it takes to buy and receive another one...

Do I need to do anything besides the Seed?
I've been reading that if I don't have a passphrase, I can access my EVM networks on Metamask itself, otherwise only with Exodus or MEW (and Phanton Wallet for Solana?)
Is that correct?
Has anyone ever had to do this?

Thanks

Yes, as long as you have access to your seed which you can import on the noncustodial wallet that supports the coins like those ones that you mentioned, you will be able to have access to your coins.

But I will recommend you to buy another Trezor than to import your seed phrase on an online wallet but it will work.

Base on my little technical knowledge if the wallet is actually set with passphrase been added to that seed phrase then there is no way you will be able to recover such wallet with the seed phrase alone because That is an entire different wallet on its own

1. Wallet is seed phrase alone is different wallet.
2. Wallet with seed phrase + passphrase is another separate wallet entirely.

The master private keys of both wallet are not the same so you are not actually recovering the same wallet if you remove the passphrase

According to how I understood rdluffy question, passphrase is not used to extend the wallet. He knows already that some wallets do not support passphrass and it is common to multi coins wallets. I think when I tested Metamask few years ago, I did not think it is supporting passphrase.

Wallet like Unstoppable wallet is supporting passphrase and it is supporting both ethereum and solana. Cake wallet is also supporting passphrase and also supporting both coins.

Wallet like Unstoppable wallet is supporting passphrase and it is supporting both ethereum and solana. Cake wallet is also supporting passphrase and also supporting both coins.

Now I get the question, yes metamask doesn’t supports the passphrase it uses a 12 word seed phrase which it calls the secret recovery phrase and it’s same with the Bip-39 word list. So as you rightly said the seed phrase from the Trezor wallet will be able to recover all the EVM Chain coins for that wallet.

I had thought the wallet had passphrase and OP was looking to actually recover it with just seed phrase

That's right, I didn't set any passphrase, I just created the 12-word seed and didn't change anything

I've been reading up on it and in some places I saw some questions about passphrases, paths, etc., but I just did the basics of the standard BIP39 seed

I should have tested it beforehand to see how compatible the seed and current wallets are. It would have been easier, hehehe

Alternatively connect Trezor Safe 3 as a hardware wallet within the Cake Wallet app. This way you will keep your keys stored offline and use Cake Wallet same as imported wallet seed.

Importing Trezor Safe 3 wallet seed into a hot wallet will make your use of hardware wallet useless and you should generate a new seed.
