I have a crucial question have been meaning to ask and I have thought of how to present it until now.
Can a newbie like me who wants to learn much about bitcoin and intend to do personal research, learn more from digesting lengthy PDF text documents and research topics on bitcoin or could it be better and faster to learn from this forum where so many old and recent discussions, theories, topics of value on the subject of bitcoin and the blockchain network has been exposed and explained in so many ways and terms from different opinions for better understanding?

Your assistance is much appreciated.

Actually, if you know how to search, you should be able to find a good resource to learn about Bitcoin.

Which one do you want to learn about bitcoin? Because there are lots of resources to learn about Bitcoin, including this forum that you can see under the sticky thread in this section.

You cannot become a knowledgeable person about Bitcoin in a day, it takes time and research. If you know how to research, then you can easily learn about Bitcoin from this forum and the internet. You have to mention which topic of Bitcoin you are interested in knowing. First of all, I would suggest you to acquire the basic knowledge of Bitcoin. Then you can acquire the rest of the knowledge of Bitcoin through your own research.

I am giving you a link from where you can acquire basic knowledge about the forum, about Bitcoin and about wallets which is very important for a newbie.

You can do both where you find different topics here in Bitcointalk forum for further learning since you will have someone to discuss about the topic. You can also find resources online by making a research but if you fo both then you can start researching and ask here if the information you found is correct and no wrong information given. The link given above should be helpful to you as it is already compiled by someone and all you need to do is choose what you want to learn first.

Dont overthink it.  Start by reading the pinned threads and then jump into the conversations.  You will learn far quicker by participating in the conversation rather than just reading the material.  But, a little bit of both doesnt hurt.  By using the documents/ebooks, you are learning the "how," and with the discussions, you will have a full understanding of the "why."  Books and PDFs gives you the technical foundation necessary to understand topics without all the noise, but this forum gives the opportunity to see how things work in real life.

Tbh . You can’t learn about bitcoin faster in this forum , but it will literally help your growth though if you are active . But if you want to learn about bitcoin more you have to balance it like , being active in this forum and doing your own research too , that’s the only way you can see some effect of your consistency (if you are with it ).

Bitcoin is a broad technology, so it’s not something you can learn overnight. It takes time, but with patience and consistency, you’ll definitely get there.

Regardless of how you intend to learn about bitcoin, be it lengthy pdfs or online videos what matters is your intention behind it. If you intend to study it for the fun of bitcoin and the idea behind it then it would be much easier and you may learn even faster.. any other reason which may include making quick money from the few knowledge you've gather may delay your progress.. my reasons for saying this is that knowledge is a combination or gradual compiling of experience and data. If you are in a hurry to learn, you simply would be wasting your time. You have to be open minded to what matters and not what you would benefit from it..
The forum teaches you everything you want, you just need to take your time to study and and also be active here. Every discussion adds a drop of knowledge. It all depends on your readiness to learn..

I am giving you a link from where you can acquire basic knowledge about the forum, about Bitcoin and about wallets which is very important for a newbie.
Link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5500358.msg64230160#msg64230160

Thank you for sharing the link for this great topic. Once read OP, I remembered that topic and was about to share it but forgot how to find it because I forgot to bookmark last time I visited it. That's why I am wondering why that reference topic isn't pinned at top of beginners board. I think it's much more important than have just few topics pinned which some of them are outdated or their creators are inactive since a long time. The actual pinned topics are already in that guide topic list. I don't know if a request should be sent to the forum admin to suggest this,  however I guess the moderator of beginners board can edit pinned topic list if I am not wrong.

Combining both knowledge is just absolutely perfect, in other to actually learn and understand something you will need to carryout thorough research on that particular topic using any materials you will ever lay your hands on, and please take note; do not just carry any materials so you do not end up wasting your time on nothing just ensure any research materials you are using is authentic that is, it must be researchable, understandable, readable and provide accurate information that helps in better understanding of the subject matter.
Do no just read any materials, some threads here provide accurate information that will help you understand some terminology and provides answers to some burning questions so lookout for them and also go on with your research using other tools as well, no knowledge is a waste.

And with other good resources to learn the Bitcoin world !
Can even be printed as book to be read before you fall asleep every night ....

I think both sides can be useful, so there isn’t much of a point in choosing one over the other. I personally like the structured PDFs and research documents because they do a better job building foundational understanding,  they really explain things step by step, and help the reader understand things easily with no extra distractions.

On the other hand,  learning through discussion on the forums like Bitcointalk will really help you to gain valuable knowledge because you can see other people's opinions in real time, you can see what they think,  what their arguments are,  and what mistakes the people make, and this aspect is significant because Bitcoin is more than just a piece of code.  It is a developing network driven by users who contribute to its development although there are no individuals or entities controlling it.

The best approach is for you is to combine both,  you can start your learning by using some research materials to understand the core concepts,  and you can also use the forum discussions to challenge and later refine your understanding. See speed should not really be your goal in this platform,  If you really want to understand the subject well, the clarity and the depth of knowledge is what you  should be aiming for,  not the speed.

Once you join here, you have two excellent options for learning about Bitcoin and blockchain. You can read long PDF text documents to learn the material in depth and structure, with clear references. But this method can be time-consuming and requires a high level of concentration. In addition, you can also learn from this forum to learn about Bitcoin from the experience and knowledge of other users, you can also get direct answers to questions asked.

I think you can do a combination of both. Start by reading a lengthy PDF text document to understand the basics of Bitcoin and blockchain and learn from some of the links recommended in previous posts. Here, you can also be more flexible in learning about Bitcoin because you can discuss directly with several experienced users, understand various perspectives and opinions about Bitcoin and blockchain, and you can also learn from the mistakes and experiences of other users.

Both are essential, this platform is designed for bitcoin discussion majorly, so you can be rest assured that anything that has to do with bitcoin can be well discussed here and you can learn as well from here as we have different sections that are made for various discussions on this aspects, having another additional materials or platform could be an added advantage to you because you stand a chance to learn more faster and grab the idea the more from different sources, all you just need is to discover which of the learning medium is best suitable for you to start with and how you could effectively engaged yourself in learning about Bitcoin.

I don't know if the OP is 12 or 22 (maybe the former), but it often seems to me that there are a lot of lost people (in general) when that shouldn't be the case given the knowledge that is available online. Besides, if you don't plan to be a developer, you can learn everything you need to know about Bitcoin in one week, just by dedicating 2-3 hours of your time every day.

If nothing else, the OP saved some time looking for links, now the only question is whether he will use them in the best possible way.

In my situation, I learned a lot on some selected YouTube video channels. But I can understand that for a beginner it may be not easy the find the serious one on YouTube.
Need to make first some researches to find the good channel with appropriated and verified content.

But this was a good complement for me, in particular that I was able to watch the videos during my home trainer session.
(So, I combined sport and learning Smiley )

The playlist provided in previous post is a really good start:

If you intend to learn from this forum and want to learn quickly, you will still need to do a lot of reading and that will be reading old topics on the forum that you can find from using the search option. I think you should go through the PDF materials and even join some video resources from YouTube before trying to learn from the forum, because that way you will not only be learning from the forum, but you will also have something good to contribute to us here who are interested in learning from you too.
