DiscoPacks.com exit scam

It seems that more and more new gambling sites are popping up on Bitcointalk nowadays, and even when their forum rep seems active and responsive, it can be just a facade for a scam.

On February 1, a new pack-opening site, DiscoPacks.com, appeared on the forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5573180. The ANN thread was fairly active, and there were no complaints about the site at the time. So, about a day ago, on February 22, I decided to test them with a small deposit of 100 USDC.

Even the deposit came with issues:

I decided to give this platform a try, however, my deposit (!) has been pending for over two hours... This is the first I've seen manual deposit approval. I'd suggest launching the site only once deposits work and work quickly.

They only credited it manually. In hindsight, why would they bother building a proper deposit system for a scam?

After that, I played a bit, got lucky with some watch packs, and ran my balance up to 2,000 USD. At that point I decided to withdraw. Needless to say, I haven't received anything. By today, the website went offline, presumably for good. The ANN thread was locked as well.

The only clue points to the user @Mandoy, who at one point replied as the site's representative. As someone noted in the thread, they likely forgot to switch to the @DiscoPacks account (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3745563):

I could be wrong but my first feeling is that you posted the quoted part but you forgot to switch to the correct account, writing style is very similar and you speak on behalf of the site : seems to me beside this one you own also original poster's account or you are anyway part of Discopack management or you are  a representative or what?

If @Mandoy could clarify how he is connected to this scam, it would be greatly appreciated.

The amount lost wasn't huge, so this is mainly a warning to everyone to be careful with the recently spreading exit scam sites.

Sorry you lost money, and yeah, their website looks different now, so they won't be coming back for good.

I am curious about Mandoy, his post made it sound like he is part of DiscoPacks team, and if you ask me, there is no way to twist what he said to make it sound like he isn't part of DiscoPacks's team. Would love to see what he has to say about it. Also, I checked DiscoPacks's representative's posts, including the archived posts, and they don't have a post like that, so it couldn't be a quote mistake.

I read it several times, and the sentence's structure implied that he is part of the team. I highlight the part that implies he is part of the team. He uses the words "we" and "us." We all know that these words imply belonging.
I also like to read his explanation before judging him.

Sorry to hear about a lose and they are already offline (just a target scam and probably you wasn't the last guy scammed).

There is already another service that has the same business model/even retro style... by selling "scratch cards" without providing house edge or explaining how they will split potential prize for users. No I don't mind they are the same but I like coincidences too.

Exit scamming for $100??? Seems like they would at least go for 5-10k if they're going to exit scam. Wonder how many others were affected? I tried signing up to check out the site and encountered errors even doing that so there was no way i was putting a dime on the shithole.

Maybe they'll comeback but I am waiting to see the rep response from mandoy.

He clearly logged and posted using the wrong account, I don't think whatever explanation he would want to provide will change my mind but let's see. What make me so sure is he avoided to reply when I quoted his ambiguous post and asked for an explanation.

I think a proper answer is now due from Mandoy, and also with a certain urgency, considering he is enrolled in Bitz.io signature campaign and the manager may not appreciate that one of the participants is involved in a scam and has a been redtagged for it.

Sometimes, you have got to laugh at the level of thinking that scammers have. They could have easily made a good amount of money if they had stayed in business and not just trying to exit scam

Read the bold part of your statement. Really take the time to read and understand what you wrote. You are promoting them if you are working for them in some capacity and supporting their announcement thread. You are helping them to stay relevant and possibly help new customers make deposits and scam.

Now, it's obvious to me that you are pretty ignorant as far as you have no clue. You're a desperate person just trying to make a buck(which I am not against), but you need to think before you make bad decisions.

1. What kind of business would pay an employee $20 per week to help out? Not 1 that is too serious.
2. When you offer to work for someone, you are in fact promoting them. Don't act ignorant and think that you are innocent.

I will make my tag a neutral as it's obvious to me that you aren't the 1 facilitating the scam, but hopefully you learn from this situation and maybe not try to work for just anyone for barely any money. Make sure whomever you offer services to is a legit business and can afford to pay you a fair wage.

Your reputation is only priced at 20$/week, that's really sad folks. in fact it is more expensive than the price of my cigarettes in a week. After all, you're already in a signature campaign, why do you agree to only be paid 20$. I don't think you would do that stupid thing, everywhere a serious casino must have a lot of money to pay its partners.
You should be suspicious if there is such a cheap offer, because the risk is much worse than you think.

I think you're too greedy, to not think about the risks and agree to be paid that cheaply.

the mistake you made is that you actually did not disclosed that you were hired by them to work as their support on the forum.
because anyone reading your post would get the impression that you are an official member and were part of the scam.

There are no accurate statistics on the actual number of victims or the amount of money stolen and so far, we may have seen only one victim in this thread, and in the coming days, more complaints about this casino may appear.

Honestly, I’m not surprised. A while ago, the same thing happened with two other new casinos that closed their operations after players made deposits and shut down everything, including the domain. Therefore, new casinos are the highest risk, as they haven’t had enough time to establish their legitimacy and could turn into an exit scam at any moment if they are not licensed.

I had some doubts about this casino from the moment they created their ann thread and I noticed on their website that deposits were not processed automatically. I asked about it in their ann thread, but the OP’s reply wasn’t convincing. However, I really wanted to believe they were genuine when you confirmed that your deposit finally got credited.
I didn’t think they would go as low as pulling an exit scam just for $100. I don’t think there are other victims, but I could be wrong!

I have been writing an article for a few days; one of the important points is "don't jump at first sight". Anyone could announce their gambling sites on the gambling section, but we must wait for a few days to check their performance. If you jump this way, then you have to suffer. Though the amount isn't bigger, you are suffering.

Just checked their website; it seems to have gone offline. It's pretty much certain they exist with funds; sorry for your loss, but you are not going to get back your funds. Don't be greedy by seeing attractive offers from a new platform.

Because they had an exit plan, simple. Even during the exchange I try with $10 for the first deposit and monitor how it does work.

However, they left a tag and supported the flag. Hope you have taken lessons as well as others.

Next time, be very careful or else your reputation will go down the drain. If you are going to collaborate with a service, make sure you let the community know how you are collaborating with them, or else we will assume you are the owner of the service and will be held accountable for any losses/scams.

That day when you made the post, you never even bothered to come out and clear the air regarding your relationship with them. How were members supposed to know?
