At this point, I can't be mad at them. I dislike them both, but is this a match that everyone wants to see? Even at their age? Yes. Will this make a lot of money? Yes. So they are doing something that makes a lot of money and they are getting their cut of that money and both are benefiting while providing something to people that they want.
Nothing wrong with that, I think it's clear that we are going to see how this would turn out, but even if it's a match that is boring, it's still a match that is going to get watched a lot.
I don’t like either of them and I wouldn’t watch this fight if it were during both of their prime. I can appreciate that these guys have fans that want to see them fight. This will almost certainly be a disappointment though. Like other said, it will probably be a decision winner and a fight without much real action.

And I would say that Floyd really uses his mental skills before. As in their first fight, Pacquiao might have shown some signs of over the hill as he is coming from a brutal knockout from Marquez. So somewhat Manny is soften up already and he has a shoulder injury that he didn't declared because he doesn't want the fight to be postponed.

You need to understand that fights such as this one are organized so that the die-hard fans of these athletes can watch them in action for one last time. The expectation is just to get them back to the ring, and not to knockout their opponent. The same happens in every other sport. In cricket, retired players such as Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Brett Lee and Ravi Rampaul frequently take part in "Masters" tournaments, and they are handsomely paid for that. These sort of fixtures benefit the players, as well as their fans. But obviously, if you expect top action and pay for the live streaming, then you will be disappointed.

At this point, this could be the last one. As in last one for both, did not expected this to happen neither, felt like they were too old to make it happen but I guess they just need the money so they are going to put on a show. If they give another break, what are they going to do, fight at sixty years old? Lol, that would be stupid. So all in all, this fight is not a good idea and it is not going to be anything but just a fake script and they will just spar a bit and get ton of money and be rich again. I do not get how they have already spent all that money they had, makes no sense, they suppose to be wealthy by now, so it doesn't make sense that they ran out of money and have to fight again at this age. I hope they take care of their finances better next time.

On their prime, Mayweather just ducked and ran away all game long and just worked for the points. In a "fight" Manny would win without a doubt, boxing of course has rules and Mayweather works on those rules and he is the greatest ever when it comes to those rules.
This isn't a street fight, Mayweather would lose in a street fight to almost half of his opponents he faced in his life, he is a "boxer" in the sense that he utilized the rules of it very well. At this age? Manny has absolutely no chance at all, not even a single bit. It would require some lucky punch somewhere, otherwise Mayweather will get a very simple and very boring win.
This is so true and I couldn't exactly explain what kind of fighter he was, and you explained it very well. In a street fight, or basically like "whoever standing last" type of fight, Mayweather would have lost to half of his opponents he faced in his life. He is a master dogder there is no doubt about that, he doesn't get hit that often and he just does many quick jabs that doesn't hurt. Don't get me wrong he had TKO fights as well, so he would have done alright with those, but in most cases it didn't even look like a fight. This is why I want to see him be defeated at least once if possible but I doubt many can do it here. I get why some people feel that way about Mayweather but saying he would lose to half his opponents in a real fight is a bit much. Defense is part of boxing not something outside of it. Hitting and not getting hit is literally the whole point of the sport. He fought under the same rules as everyone else and mastered them better than most. Just because he didn’t stand in the middle trading punches doesn’t mean he wasn’t fighting. His style was technical and calculated which can look boring compared to someone like Pacquiao but it was effective. The street fight comparison doesn’t really make sense either. These guys train for boxing not random no rules brawls. Put any elite boxer in a street situation and it becomes unpredictable for everyone.

I'm curious, guys, are there any bookies now that you can place bets on this fight? I checked some of sportsbook that I am using, and I still can't see the match of Pacquiao vs Mayweather. I'm really curious about the odds, like if there are any changes because from their last fight, the odds were really far favored with Mayweather.
So far, stake.com is the only one I found that already has odds for the Mayweather vs Pacquiao match(check the image below). I also checked other sportsbooks, and the furthest upcoming boxing fight they have is in April or May(these sportsbooks have the same odds provider). OMG. I think during their last fight, the odds are more likely this. I can't recall it anymore, so it seems nothing has changed. But still, the match will be in September, for sure there will be changes depending on the news for Mayweather and Pacquiao. So to be safe, I will not place any bets yet, it's still early. I tried quickly looking at what their odds were on their first fight, but couldn't, so I used AI, and it says "Mayweather 1.47 Pacquiao 2.75", I am not sure how accurate it is. There might be some changes in their odds as the time of their fight comes near, but I don't think the change will be significant. edit: I did a bit more digging and this article says the odds were "Floyd Mayweather, 1.53, Draw, 17.00 Manny Pacquiao, 2.75"

So if you’re planning to bet large amount, I think it’s not good to place your bet now since the fight is still long way off. Unless you don’t have any plans for your money and unless you’re okay with risking it then go ahead and bet. For me, I can’t miss betting on this fight and as a Filipino, of course we supporting Manny Pacquiao.

The opportunity that slipped away years ago now presents itself as a second chance for Manny Pacciquiao. This match could be his chance to rewrite his legacy if he can win the rematch. It will be a more comfortable match for Floyd, he will enter the ring more relaxed, so he has the advantage. Perhaps they're getting older, perhaps their speed isn't what it used to be. But their experience and names alone are enough it will still be a great match.

They might both make a friendly sparring, crowd would eat it, but in the end they will go home with juicy paychecks.
I think that would be the intention of their managements as that's becoming the norm now for most boxers coming out of retirement. They want to grab another pile of cash as if they didn't make money in their active days. I'm beginning to lose respect for those who come out of retirement to box. I would rather a retired boxer stayed retired. It keeps their records intact. Nevertheless as you have said, Floyd is still the favorite in their rematch and it might be better to see what will be the odds of him winning by decision or in the judges scorecard.
I guess those who are picking him as favourite are counting on the fact that he will get undue advantage from officials of the fight. But many of us wanted to see Manny to win in this fight.
Yes, I will want Pacman to win but it should be on a clean slate without bias officiating. I don't want any of them getting help from officials.

True, as long as he keeps the speed advantage over Manny Pacquiao he can just control the fight and pile up the points. That’s probably the easiest route for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to win, just stay safe, use the distance, and let the judges decide. If Manny still doesn’t have a clear plan to force Mayweather to engage and make mistakes, then we might just see something similar to what happened in their previous fight. Only difference is this one might even look slower now. Mayweather’s style has always been like that anyway, win rounds, avoid damage, and frustrate the opponent. If Manny can’t break that rhythm, the result could look very familiar.

Mayweather, and Pacquiao, are two boxing legends as far as I know and I wouldn't mind to see them fight again although the adrenaline to see their comeback has withered but yet it would be fun for old-time sake. I'm not expecting to see a fierce fight like when they were in their primes, it should be two experienced guys playing it quite safe so they can go home and enjoy themselves after getting paid for making their fans happy. The fight will come and go and I don't think that at their age it will matter who wins because clearly both don't have anything to prove anymore, they have already proven themselves as great boxers

I just can't believe that after 11 years, it's only now that they've agreed to fight again when they're older, it's really just about money. I heard that the reason Mayweather agreed to fight Pacquiao was because Floyd M.'s money was running out. And he still has 50 million dollars in debt with high interest, and other people he owes him.
So win or lose, these two boxers have a lot to gain, and of course I'll bet on Paquiao to win, I just hope this time he can really knock down Floyd M. Because if it's just punches without knocking down the opponent, it means Pacquiao can't really knock down Floyd.

Floyd runs out of money - that is something hard to believe in. I would believe more in Pacman is running out of money, because he has been spending them on others or so to say on things that can not be sold later. Pacman used to be deep into gambling. Floyd spends money on expensive and luxury things. If he really was running short, he could have sold couple of cars and property. But one thing you are sure about: they are doing for the money only, not for legacy, fans, to prove something or find out who is better.

But many people also know that situation is different now because Pacquaio is strong and have a chance to defeat Mayweather on their rematch. If there's no injury on both of them or major controversy that can affect them the fight will continue, if there's something like that exist then that fight might be cancelled, but looking at turn of events now and there's big sponsor enter on their fight, I there's nothing can stop this fight and we could finally see the part 2 of their match.

It's really hard to speculate as why Floyd is running out of money, but it has been reported already, so when there's smoke there's fire. Perhaps it could be that he has failing businesses or his lifestyle, mansions, cars, jewelries, women, gambling: and it might cause him to lose that money in short amount of time if he is not careful. So that's why he needs a fight or two, first against Tyson and then against Manny Pacquiao to at least recover some. Or perhaps just one push as you have said, for the money and no longer for the legacy. And in this generations of boxers, who are making millions every fight for a high-caliber boxer, I don't think that they could be for the legacy anymore. Times has change for any sports.

We all know that Manny chases Floyd after their first fight, and Floyd just ignore him or doesn't want to give him a rematch. But after many years, we will finally see the fight again although the only regret we have is that they are no longer in their prime. And couple with the news that Floyd is in debt, it might have push him to agree on the rematch. And since it's very popular right now of this so called exhibition fights (although this is not), and big money on the line, for me this is the main reason why Floyd sign the contract.

Just like you, I was flabbergasted too when I found that out. I had thought it was like 4–5 years last year when I watched clips of their last fight on YouTube. 11 years interval is really a long time. If not for money, I don't know what else would be bringing them together to contest. ...it's really just about money.
That's not in doubt. ...and of course I'll bet on Paquiao to win, I just hope this time he can really knock down Floyd M. Because if it's just punches without knocking down the opponent, it means Pacquiao can't really knock down Floyd.
I sincerely hope a TKO will decide it too, and not any unanimous decision from judges. Pacman should do it in a way not to leave out any doubt. Sorry, to bring this in –If Francis Ngannou had TKOed Tyson Fury, it would've been obvious he won in that bout.

I don’t like either of them and I wouldn’t watch this fight if it were during both of their prime. I can appreciate that these guys have fans that want to see them fight. This will almost certainly be a disappointment though. Like other said, it will probably be a decision winner and a fight without much real action.
What you have said is very much the most correct argument. Also, the die hard fans of Pacman and Floyd Gayweather are more than millions more than the most famous boxers in the world. These are 2 pound for pound the best boxers during their prime and they will fight again. Everyone should be excited for this.

How much money Floyd has? Millions? Billions? Trillions? Zillions? God his life must be so boring, if he had to buy expensive things all the time. That is so weird that a person with such amount of money can not afford bookkeeper or financial assistant that will look after his money and tell him to make a pause on expenses. He is so long in boxing business, should have developed profitable promotion (he has one, but it isnt much profitable) and live happily.

Manny Pacquiao was in action last time in July 2025, when he faced Mario Barrios. The fight ended in a draw, although one of the judges scored it as a win for Barrios. He is returning to the ring in less than one year. But for Floyd Mayweather, the last time we saw him in action was a while ago. His last professional match was in 2017, against Conor McGregor. After that he took part in more than half a dozen exhibition fights, and the last one was in 2024 when he fought against John Gotti III at the Mexico City Arena.
