ESPNI'm just reading it now. It seems Mayweather is not even sure with himself, and it may be trying to delay the game. IDK whether it's gimmick to attract the hype or he's not sure can win against Manny for second times. It gives me impression if Mayweather ain't serious for this game, and he looks like treat this game as an exhibition. So i'm wondering you guys opinion does anyone genuinely think it will happen? I'm feeling he's not sure with himself. He seems not willing to lose his record. No doubt he may delay the game until he can sure he can beat Manny for the second times. So i hope you guys don't put your expectation so high for this game.

Based on the article, he wants it to be an exhibition match because he saw Pacquiao's last fight and thinks that he is still good and well-conditioned. Manny, in many of his interviews, wants to avenge his loss to Mayweather, and Mayweather knows that he could get it. "It's an exhibition, so we're both winners," Mayweather said, doubling down on his rematch with Pacquiao not being a pro fight. "I mean, we just want to go out there and entertain the people and put on a good show." Mayweather will regret fighting Manny and losing; if it's not an exhibition match, his legacy only anchored on that 50-0 record without this, his claim to be the GOAT will be over.

I suddenly lost interest in this fight after reading about what Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants for his rematch with Manny Pacquiao in only exhibition fight.. If it’s really going to be just an exhibition match, I think fewer people will watch and it probably won’t generate as much money. It also seems like Mayweather is afraid of ruining his record. As far as I know, he’s never lost even in exhibition fights, so it’s surprising that he doesn’t want to make this a professional bout against Pacquiao.. But it’s still okay as long as the fight actually happens.

Apart from exhibition matches, at the moment I don't think that they can do anything else. But that said, the fan interest is still there. According to reliable media estimates, the fight is expected to generate around $500 million in revenues and both Mayweather and Pacquiao are expected to walk away with somewhere in the vicinity of $150 to $200 million. I am a bit sceptical. Among my friend circle, I am yet to find someone who is actually interested in this fight and ready to pay for the PPV stream.

Nevertheless, I don't think that this fight is going to lose it's value to the fans. They are still willing to buy PPV and live tickets just to watch their boxer - Manny Pacquiao have this one last chance to beat Floyd.

Same here, i thought that this would be a professional fight as first announced. IMO, there is no sense of actually making this fight happens if indeed this would be an exhibition fight only as i think this would not generate money. I think the reason why Floyd Mayweather backed out of this fight, maybe he could get the amount which is suitable to pay his debt when he fight Mike Tyson in the coming months in an exhibition fight again. For Floyd there is no sense of risking his record against the Pacman if he already got the money needed to settle his monetary obligation.

Floyd doesn't gain anything from another professional fight between these two. As far as he is concerned, the discussion is settled once and for all. The exhibition match in all probability will not have scoring (this needs to be confirmed). Now I don't know what impact this will have on the fan interest, and also on the potential gate collection as well as PPV revenues. Fans may skip the match, if they feel that the fight is not genuine and both the boxers are there just to make some easy money. That was not the case back in 2015, when Floyd first took on Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

His unbeatable record is always on the table when talking about his legacy and being fighter of the century which he dont want to get away. he saw Pacman's game and everyone can see that this old guy still punching like he is on year 30. Money cant beat Manny in a fair fight. A duel with Pacquioa now might give him his first L and KO. Well, Mayweather is Mayweather, he talks big, he talks money.

Based on the article, he wants it to be an exhibition match because he saw Pacquiao's last fight and thinks that he is still good and well-conditioned. Manny, in many of his interviews, wants to avenge his loss to Mayweather, and Mayweather knows that he could get it. Just to add on this one, when was the last time that Mayweather fought in the ring? I can't remember it TBH compared to Pacquiao who just fought a title holder in Barrios and yes he's just Barrios maybe for some, but he showed there that he can still fight 12 rounds despite of his old age. For Mayweather, he might not be able to last 12 rounds especially if his body isn't fit to fight, and that might be the reason why his "PRECIOUS" record will be tarnished. Well if it's a regular boxing fight then I don't think that Pacquiao will refuse it because he always wanted to break that 50-0 record of him. Now if it's an exhibition match only, I doubt that he will still continue to do it unless if it's for the money only then he will. He claims to be the GOAT of boxing, and anybody can claim it. It's just that, are other people look at you as the GOAT of boxing as well? In basketball, many people sees Jordan as their GOAT even though he himself doesn't see him as one. Completely different from how Mayweather thinks of himself.

This fight is still so far away. It is almost like they announced it so far ahead in the hopes that something will go wrong to cancel the event. Maybe that is just me wishful thinking for the sake of Netflix getting better programming I almost hope something goes wrong and cancels this fight.

Exhibition fight between those two legends is lame. If they (Floyd in particular) wants many millions, then he should agree only for professional fight. Nobody pay so much for exhibition fight except Asians and Sheikhs. People wish to see him losing his 0 in 50-0 record. People are ready to pay for that and hope he would lose. Nobody is ready to pay for 1 in loss in exhibition record. Floyd and Pacman should ask Jake Paul for help if they want big paychecks, but dont want to put much effort in fight. Jake is able to boost interest and payment for their fight.

Exactly, Floyd has been protected that unbeaten record in his professional career. Up to this day, he doesn't want to have his 0 taken away specially if it will be Manny Pacquaio, his nemesis. That is the only reason I see why he would suddenly doesn't want this to be a professional fight. But not sure if everything has been settled down or the contract has been sign. Because if it is, then he has no reasons to back down from that sign contract. Unless everything up to this point is just verbal between the two. That they just agree in words and nothing is final yet, including the purse split and what kind of ring is going to use or the how heavy or what kind of gloves.

So Floyd already backed out. Looks like he still wants to protect his record, because if he loses, he can just say it’s only an exhibition fight and not a big deal. I think that’s a bit disappointing for the fans. At first we understood it was just an exhibition, but expectations changed along the way. People will still watch for sure, but it won’t have the same hype as a real pro fight. Come on Floyd, just come out of retirement already.

Floyd does not know what he signed up for. Netflix and Pacquiao already announced it is a professional fight; both parties want this to be a professional fight, but Mayweather tried to deceive everybody that there is no venue yet, and everything has not yet been finalized. In the end, what's in their contract is what all parties concerned should honor. This image summarizes the drama that is happening at this event. Netflix, in a statement sent to Uncrowned at the time, called it a "once-in-a-generation event" with "Mayweather officially coming out of retirement" for a "professional rematch." The wording couldn’t have been clearer.Netflix, in a statement sent to Uncrowned at the time, called it a "once-in-a-generation event" with "Mayweather officially coming out of retirement" for a "professional rematch."
The wording couldn’t have been clearer. Floyd Mayweather’s comments, if true, are a near kiss of death on Manny Pacquiao rematch hype

In that case, if the contract has already been signed, then he can actually sue Mayweather for that. I’m not sure if there’s already a case based on the announcement his camp made, but backing out after that would definitely be a big issue. They can’t just mess around with a company like Netflix, it’s a billion dollar company. And with Mayweather already rumored to be having financial issues, this kind of move doesn’t make sense. What is he really doing, is he trying to get himself into another lawsuit again?

Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao Bagian II
Yes, both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are past their glory days, so if they both agree to display and show their fangs in the ring, this will attract the attention of boxing fans globally and the world, considering that both of them have had good careers in the world of boxing. I am very sure that moments like this are eagerly awaited, especially by gamblers and boxing fans, this is an exciting thing for boxing circles, I hope Mayweather and Pacquiao can show their best for their fans.

That's why I was surprised initially that this fight is going to be professional, as Floyd doesn't want to put his record on the line here. But there was public insistence that should be what this fight is professional.
Now, we have seen that Floyd back out on his words and wanted this to be a exhibition fight. Nevertheless, I don't think that this fight is going to lose it's value to the fans. They are still willing to buy PPV and live tickets just to watch their boxer - Manny Pacquiao have this one last chance to beat Floyd.
I guess that the two legendary fighters might want to play it safe considering their age and retirement especially for Mayweather, who wants to mantain his unbeatable record. I would have loved to see a professional fight to see if Manny Pacquiao can regain his glory of losing to a fellow legend but since it'll probably going to be an exhibition match a win is nonetheless a win whether it's for entertainment or the real thing. I think that it'll still bring some thrills to see them fight again after all the years that we've been waiting to see it happen although the excitement has died down over the years but I think it's still better late than never to see them together in a ring once again doing their thing.

If he wanted to play safe then Floyd should not fight period. He is known to say that "health comes first". But then again, why he un-retire? he as going after the money as what most us is thinking and now saying that he wanted this to be a exhibition fights which is a bit disappointment for fans. It could still be thrills but if they are going to hold their punches because they wanted to be safe, then it's not good to watch this. Manny doesn't have the tendency to do this, even when he fought in exhibitions fights, he still bring his game and wanting to score a knockout win for his fans.

Yeah, I do agree, they still have the fans specially Manny that can bring fans to watch them in any arena around the world. But who knows, this could be a let down for most fans as they wanted to watch a pro-fight between the two. And even if they are way past their primes, still there are a lot of what if that we wanted to see and settled in the boxing ring.

I don't know why, but I feel like this whole fiasco about Mayweather wanting an exhibition match instead of the contracted professional match is just a stunt to bring more attention to it. I mean, it isn't uncommon for boxers to create drama to hype up or bring more attention to their upcoming fight. We've seen a lot of those happen in the boxing industry. Also, if the contract is real, and Mayeather doesn't want to commit to it, he'll breach the contract, and he will most likely be fined for it.
