What drives the success or the downfall of an altcoin?

The market value of any altcoin is determined by a general performance of Bitcoin therefore low by the season we are, knowing if such is hot coin season or not is also very important because this we determine the rising or falling of any coin, lastly, we have to consider the project development team behind any coin, because the number of investors and what they are investing on that particular project determines the success of that altcoin.

Does utility of the coin or token play a factor or is it more about market conditions?

We can't deny that utility provide a solid base relevance for an altcoin to perform, because this is one of them major key aspect that investors look into before considering for any coin as an investment, there's no point in wasting time to invest on what will be pumped and later on dumped, such could possess much risk than the benefit distance to serve at last.

Only a few altcoins can do that and it depends on the narrative trend in the market that's why they have a very significant increase, there is no altcoin season, that's just the illusion of altcoin holders, if we look back at the market when Bitcoin printed its ATH and was in a bullish market, the market capitalization of the entire crypto market is not much different from 2021, but there are actually more altcoins and this is the reason why there is no price spike in altcoins, not because there is no money but the money is spread across many altcoins that share no value in their products.

What matters most is people's acceptance and love, nothing more. If there is a coin, that people love and accept and want to buy then you are going to have a good project that goes up, if people do not want to buy then there is no reason for us to buy neither. I understand it may not look like much but in the end most of the time, we just end up with hype that makes people want to buy for short term, so it should not be "I can make money with this in the next week", it should be "I can hold this for years" kind of love.

At the same time, people will love only when a coin is backed with a real time utility but that is just an initial trigger which means for continuous growth, that utility needs to be profitable and sustaining. This is the reason, there were coins failed even after got hype on launch.

I believe all altcoins depends on bitcoin to thrive which is why whenever we have a situation that Bitcoin is coming down in price market and you have a bear market, then you should also expect bitcoin to have a strong bearish season that might eventually get you scared and you will panic, and if you’re not careful you end up loosing money which is very unappreciated when you have plans of buying and investing in altcoins, well I’m going to boldly say it that bitcoin drives the market of crypto currency entirely, if we have a bearish market with Bitcoin we also have a bearish market with all cryptocurrencies, if we have a bullish market with Bitcoin then we also eventually have a bullish market with all cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin has always been the driving force for altcoins to achieve market optimism because Bitcoin is like a king who will preach to his people if Bitcoin goes down everything goes down, if Bitcoin goes up everything goes up, so bitcoin is the key to driving altcoins to increase.

It's just that the most important question is how an altcoin or a project can survive like bitcoin which always gets interest in every cycle, this is what has not been solved to this day, because every cycle we can see the top 100 altcoins always changing.

Several factors could drive the value of altcoins to perform well, this start with the right definition given to the project utility, how feasible and realistic is this, The development team, and how long the plan for the project sustainability by the way they are investing on it, all these work together with the season we have for altcoins to perform and rise to all time high, so that every investor could be in profit by then.

That's quite true. People should support the coin no matter what use case it has. Bitcoins at the initial stage had a very few use cases but yet gained popularity and are now trending on the top. The same happened with major altcoins like ETH, BNB, SOL, etc which made the price skyrocket as people started showing support. I think this is what will drive the future of cryptos. The more popular the crypto gets, the demand will increase which will in fact increase the price.

OP should check for coins having majority people support as these coins have future for sure. Blindly investing in these coins can turn out to be a mistake though. There should be enough data backing the popularity. Bitcoins are now quite popular which had driven mass adoption. Bitcoins are now on a much safer level even if the price dips further. People would still consider investing in bitcoins even if they go below $50k and that only happened due to the love from community.

When Bitcoin is coming down, other cryptocurrencies more like other altcoins, would also have to come down with it, but most of this altcoins when Bitcoin begins to increases they turn to stablecoins and we might not know how to handle this altcoins, most time this altcoins goes down and crash when Bitcoin is decreasing in the market, but I think you’re wrong for saying that all altcoins are useless because I absolutely don’t think all altcoins aren’t useless, there are altcoins that are worthy of investing your money, there are individuals that I know that altcoins have made rich in the cryptocurrency market, it all depends on what altcoins that you have invested your money and you have to be wise with such investments.
