I am kind of still new to this crypto space, and I’ve seen many other coins in the market that kind of grow faster than Bitcoin.

But why do most people keep advising me to mainly focus on Bitcoin compared to others?

There are actually many reasons why people suggest to invest in Bitcoin. Peoples trust in Bitcoin doesn't comes only because 'it's first'. Other crypto has leadership and control while Bitcoin doesn't have any. If you see crypto second biggest coin Ethereum it has a team that can control it, Ethereum also has unlimited supply while Bitcoin has only 21m supply. What do you think will people trust in a project one "A project that has better feature but project team can change rules" other "A system that doesn't change or no one can break the ultimate rule, what you hold ultimately yours"
Even if you research about past history you can see Bitcoin fall lower than other crypto. I think these are are main reason people invest in Bitcoin and suggest other to invest

Because bitcoin is truly anonymous decentralized. Therefore, there is no single center that can be influenced. This allows the project to remain free and independent. This is probably one of the factors that allows users to trust and believe in this financial asset.

I would highlight decentralization (and the resulting opportunities) as a unique feature of bitcoin.

Most of new projects have been created by certain individuals or groups of people and they build the project for profit. It’s not totally decentralized because it’s very reliant on the team that built it. Another reason is that most use Proof of Stake as their mechanism which makes Bitcoin’s Proof of Work stand out.

Yes, there are many altcoins that can really grow bigger than Bitcoin in terms of returns.

Given that fact that Bitcoin is the prime mover yes, and currently it's too big to fall and I think everyone knows that even if there are a lot of critics, Bitcoin will remain the dominant crypto and there's no one that can topple it. So with that, you can sleep at night knowing that it won't literally go to 0 when you wake up. As compare to most altcoins that you really don't know, maybe the devs are going to rug pull or there are certain groups we call pump and dump that can manipulate that altcoin to their advantage. So in any case, you might be a victim of this group and lose a lot of money in return.

Yes, of course. Yes, of course. Bitcoin has proven itself well in various aspects. Security, trustlessness, censorship resistance, transparency, etc. That's why bitcoin has reached institutional level adoption. You don't really need to compare the value of the first cryptocurrency with something newer, which is often subject to manipulation and unnecessary fundamental influence.

Are they suggesting you invest in Bitcoin, or do you need crypto for something else? For example, making your transactions harder to track, paying for digital services like VPN, etc? Depending on what you want to do and where you ask them, I wouldn't be surprised if people suggest other things first.

I guess growing faster also relates to price here, even though we can look at merchant acceptances, number of nodes, and so on.

Because Bitcoin is the mother coin, the others are simply shitcoins. You will learn day by day why others are shitcoins and why most of the people prefer Bitcoin. Nowadays even I have been preferring Bitcoin instead of shitcoins. Though we consider some alts as strong coins, compared to Bitcoin, they are also shit. If you want to realise yourself, then just check the market conditions right now. Hope you will not need any further explanation.

Not only for the first, there are a lot of technical issues that make Bitcoin different from other alts. If you look for true decentralised cryptocurrency, then you will find Bitcoin. Others have teams; they could freeze addresses and many more that need a lot of time to write. So we can't call them true decentralised cryptocurrencies.

The reasons bitcoin is better than altcoins is this:

• it has the most secured network
• it isn't a scam because if it was, it would have shown a long time ago
• It is scarce and that is why it is considerd a store of value, a hedge against inflation and a digital gold

I suggest that you entertain their advice because it is a good one. I think they have experienced what happens when you pick altcoins over Bitcoin, something about crypto space is that when you are advised by many people on what to do in order to be on the safe side, consider the advice, some person will like to learn from experience, in that course one may lose money that should have been avoided.

Bitcoin doesn't rug pull. We also do not know who is behind Bitcoin, even with the name Satoshi we don't know him and it doesn't seem like the network can be manipulated to suit profit making for the creator, or developers, that makes it safe for everyone and knowing that whatever funds invested is secured, even in the long run.

It is also true that there are many copies of Bitcoin itself, although I think that these copy-paste qt wallets were much more frequent several years ago (maybe not, and I'm just focused on other thinks). Not to mention the forks, whose same original blockchain was the same as our good old Bitcoins, but whose paths parted at some point in the past because of small yet important differences.

You need to go and thank them for advising you to invest only in Bitcoin and if you ignore their early warnings, you might end up with inevitable mistakes and you will live to tell the story one day.
Take your eyes from any altcoins for now as you continue to learn and upgrade your knowledge about cryptocurrency.

This is not about first or second but your safety as a newbie in the crypto market. You will make so many mistakes and it is better for you to stick to the advise given to you so you don't regret and decision you will take now.

Bitcoin is having a huge difference from what makes it a unique coin over all other altcoins, we cant start the comparison now, because they are so much, if you're into bitcoin, then you should be able to relate more better on what you stand to benefits from its adoption compared to what other coins have been serving you, we can talk on the risk, profitability, decentralization, and so many other areas we may use to lay more emphasis on how they can be well distinguished, but the solution is very simple, bitcoin and no other.

There are a lot of reasons why Bitcoin is not just different from the other digital currency but better . Apart from the fact that is the first of its kind, Bitcoin literally signify decentralization, there’s no any third party in it , unlike the others that are more of centralized, because they  are under their founders control. So bitcoin is more like a community driven coins that’s being driven by demand and supply , like some other projects can be manipulated by their developers, and not talk of the fact that’s more safer than the other cryptocurrencies.

Decentralization is the main difference because other coins are centralized, they have team which consist of individuals with different personalities and interest, at any moment, one can decide to deviate from the agreed roadmap which will definitely affect the project, and the investors will be at the receiving end. But Bitcoin is completely different, it is an existing pattern that it has to be followed like that, it has limited supply which will always makes its price higher than expected because miners are getting lesser Bitcoin, which will result to high price, that is why Bitcoin always leads the market.

The reason why they tell you to mainly focus on Bitcoin because they have been around long enough to understand that Bitcoin has the capability to regain its value over time if it goes down, while other cryptocurrencies, mostly the new ones like meme coins and other useless altcoins, barely manage to regain their whole value. There are some altcoins that are pretty old and have been around for quite long as well, they could be somehow trustworthy, such as ETH, SOL, LTC, and some more, but they can't be compared with Bitcoin because they are altcoins, at the end of the day.

Bitcoin is different from other cryptocurrencies because Bitcoin is truly decentralized, it has a limited supply, it has a large community and user base all around the world, and it has a history of recovering its value over time and marking a higher price every cycle. We have cycles where we see bear market, and then bull run. We also have halvings which cuts the mining reward in half after each halving, you should do more research about that to learn more about it. Overall, whoever suggested you to stick to Bitcoin gave you the right suggestion and recommendation.
